Chapter 3256 – Fellow Daoist, Please Wait
“What else do you know about the Five Directions Traveling Palace?”
Jiang Chen asked.
“I don’t know anything else. The Five Directions Traveling Palace was discovered by a Half-step Divine Emperor expert, but by the time he came out of it, he was already dead. As for the real secrets, I’m afraid that’s for Tantai and Baichi Huayu to get to the bottom of. But if Brother Jiang doesn’t want to go, you can come back to the Fossil Sect with me too.”
Sun Xiaolong said with a smile.
“Don’t try to goad me. Just because the Five Directions Great Emperor was the last Great Emperor of the Divine World, it’s worth my while to go and find out. Your Fossil Sect wants to borrow my strength to help Tantai Jingzang, doesn’t it?”
Jiang Chen said calmly.
“Hahaha, Brother Jiang really is Brother Jiang. You saw through it in the end. I knew you’d definitely be interested.”
Sun Xiaolong stopped hiding it. It was only natural that Jiang Chen could guess. But for the Fossil Sect, Jiang Chen’s help really was quite significant. How much help it would be to have an expert no weaker than Tantai Jingzang standing on the Fossil Sect’s side went without saying. And for Sun Xiaolong, this was a pleasant surprise. When he got back, he would definitely report this to the sect. It really counted as a great merit.
“By the way, Brother Jiang, your monk friend and the Fire Qilin, are they both gone?”
Sun Xiaolong asked in surprise.
“They have other important business and aren’t here. Show me the way. I’ll set off at once.”
Jiang Chen said, then turned and glanced at Wang Fengqi.
“He’s my disciple. There’s no need to mention it to outsiders. Just look after him for me. I’ll trouble you, Brother Sun.”
With a turn of Jiang Chen’s hand, a Peak Origin Divine Tool appeared in it, and he gave it straight to Sun Xiaolong. Sun Xiaolong’s eyes lit up, and he was overjoyed. Even for him, a Peak Origin Divine Tool was quite precious. Jiang Chen was actually so generous. A Peak Origin Divine Tool was worth something he could hardly imagine. Above the Peak Origin Divine Tool was the Primal Origin Treasure, and not just anyone could own a Primal Origin Treasure. Without great fortune, even a Divine Emperor Realm expert might never get the chance to obtain one.
“Easy to discuss, easy to discuss. Haha, thank you, Brother Jiang.”
Sun Xiaolong accepted Jiang Chen’s Origin Divine Tool without the slightest politeness, glanced at Wang Fengqi and nodded slightly.
“I’m leaving now. Once you enter the Fossil Sect, cultivate well. From now on, your path of cultivation will depend on you alone. I hope you’ll see through the Limitless Sword soon.”
Jiang Chen looked deeply at Wang Fengqi and said through voice transmission.
Wang Fengqi nodded heavily and kowtowed deeply in the direction Jiang Chen was leaving. This bow was the deepest gratitude he had for his master.
South of Zhelong County, Qifeng Mountain.
Through ten thousand zhang of mortal dust, the mountains stretched on and on. For hundreds and thousands of miles, thorns covered the ground. It was the end of the road, where mountains and rivers ran out, with hardly any people, nothing but ancient trees and great rivers, utterly barren. In this wasteland, even birds and beasts were extremely rare, and life was scarce.
“Up ahead is Qifeng Mountain. In a valley three hundred miles into Qifeng Mountain, there’s a winding place. That’s the entrance to the Five Directions Traveling Palace. I still have to take my people back to the Fossil Sect to report, so I can’t go on with you.”
Sun Xiaolong said.
“Good!”
Jiang Chen nodded, and Sun Xiaolong turned into a streak of light and left.
Looking at the vast mountains in front of him, Jiang Chen shot forward swiftly. Above in the void, everything was gloomy, as if a mountain storm were about to come.
Jiang Chen crossed the valley and, sure enough, saw an inconspicuous gorge. In front of the gorge stood a gateway that was not very big. There were no carved dragons or painted phoenixes before the gateway, and no lavish decorations, only a door left half open. Jiang Chen narrowed his eyes and swept his gaze over it. It looked as though it had been forced open.
“It looks like they went in a long time ago.”
Jiang Chen frowned and murmured. Just as he was about to go in, a call suddenly came.
“Fellow Daoist, please wait!”
The one who came was a chubby Daoist. He was not tall, wore a Daoist robe with the Eight Trigrams on the front, and had smiling eyes, a mustache shaped like the character for eight, and a pair of triangular eyes. He did not look unpleasant. He even looked a bit comical. He swaggered toward Jiang Chen.
Jiang Chen frowned. What was this person’s background? He did not seem to have anything to do with him, nor did he know him.
“Boundless Longevity Buddha! Fellow Daoist, your forehead is full and your bearing is dignified. One look and I can tell you’re a chosen son of heaven.”
The chubby Daoist said with a beaming smile.
“What does that have to do with you?”
Jiang Chen asked back. Who knew where this guy had popped out from. He did not look like a kind and good sort.
“Heh heh, meeting is fate. The fate between you and me has only just begun. If Fellow Daoist doesn’t believe it, you’ll surely come to realize it in the future. This poor Daoist’s Daoist title is Wude. I greet you.”
Wude bowed slightly, looking very respectful.
“Wude? It doesn’t mean ‘without virtue,’ does it?”
Jiang Chen thought to himself, but he did not say it out loud. After all, he had no grudge with this Daoist.
“That Daoist title isn’t very good. It’s easy for people to take it the wrong way. Heh heh.”
Jiang Chen also said with a smile.
“Sigh. Before this humble one left home to become a Daoist, my name was very nice. Unfortunately, my master gave me this title, but when an elder bestows something, one dare not refuse, so I’ve used it ever since. I used to be called Wu Liang. How about that, nice, right?”
Wude said with a smile, looking very proud.
Jiang Chen could not help rolling his eyes. Was this guy serious? That was not even as nice as Wude. Wu Liang, “without conscience,” was a name that set the imagination running just as much.
“I’m not interested in what you’re called. What do you mean by calling me over?”
Jiang Chen asked.
“Nothing. I just want to go in with Fellow Daoist, so we can look out for each other. One look and I can tell Fellow Daoist is pure and good at heart, who knows how much better than those executioners who kill people without blinking.”
Wude said earnestly.
“Do you know what this place is?”
Jiang Chen said without showing anything.
“Of course. Isn’t this the Five Directions Traveling Palace? Legend has it the Five Directions Great Emperor was the last Great Emperor of the Divine World. Someone must have already gone in here. To be safe, I’ll go together with Fellow Daoist. I definitely won’t let Fellow Daoist down.”
Wude said with a perfectly straight face.
Jiang Chen narrowed his eyes. It looked like this guy also knew the Five Directions Traveling Palace like the back of his hand. He just did not know where he came from.
“All right. We’ll go together, so we can look out for each other. After you!”
Jiang Chen said with a smile. He did not know this fat old Daoist’s background, but he did not fear him. At the very least, he would first see what medicine this guy was selling in his gourd.
“After you, Fellow Daoist!”
Wude said.
“You first!”
Jiang Chen said.
“Fellow Daoist first. If there’s any danger, I can lend Fellow Daoist a hand.”
Wude said.
Suddenly, a flash of white light shot past in front of the gateway, like a spirit fox. Jiang Chen took a step back without thinking and narrowed his eyes. And at this moment, Wude was already on a hilltop a thousand meters away.
“Fellow Daoist, is there danger ahead? If there’s danger, I’ll go with you.”
