A pair of spectacles, a bank card, and an unopened letter. These were the things that Lin Menghan wanted Zhuang Meifeng to pass to Ling Yun.

“Did she say anything else?” Ling Yun asked Zhuang Meifeng while pocketing the three items.

Zhuang Meifeng shook her head. “No, but her eyes were red. I think she was crying before she came.”

Ling Yun smiled helplessly and told Zhuang Meifeng and Xiao Meimei, “I have to go home for dinner tonight. Don’t wait for me.”

It was past 6:30pm. Ning Lingyu had already called him twice to urge him home.

“Okay. Hubby…” Zhuang Meifeng started but paused.

Ling Yun smiled and asked, “What? Don’t worry, just tell me about it.”

Zhuang Meifeng bit her sexy lip and said softly, “Hubby, today is Qing Ming Festival. I would like to visit my grandpa’s tomb…”

The person closest to Zhuang Meifeng since birth was her grandpa. She had visited her grandpa’s tomb every year during Qing Ming Festival without fail since he passed away five years ago.

“This is important, and it is something that should be done. Have dinner first and let Xiao Meimei accompany you there after dinner. I will leave the car with you.”

Ling Yun comforted Zhuang Meifeng as he felt her longing for her grandpa.

“I will get going first.”

Ling Yun dashed out to the road by the river, hailed a taxi, and rushed back to Qingshui Bay Mansion Number Nine.

While the taxi was speeding along, Ling Yun read the letter that Lin Menghan left him in the backseat. His heart felt strangely empty.

Lin Menghan was the first woman he had laid his eyes upon when he came to this world. Therefore, his feelings towards her were special.

Lin Menghan had a perfect face and a sexy figure. She was the number one existence among all the women he knew.

Zhuang Meifeng, Xiao Meimei, and even Liang Fengyi whom he had become newly acquainted with today were all inferior to Lin Menghan.

Most importantly, this adorably stupid peerless beauty had firm principles. Her heart was as pure as it was transparent, just like a crystal.

There was no concept of money in her mind. Everything she did was purely to prove herself.

But Lin Menghan failed to prove herself. She underestimated her enemy and overestimated her ability at the same time.

She had been saved by Ling Yun twice within the span of two days for the same thing. The first encounter was coincidental, but Ling Yun ended up saving her life. She had deliberately called for help the second time around. That time, Ling Yun had saved something more precious than her life: her chastity.

Lin Menghan did not know what else she could do. She didn’t have any reason to stay in Qingshui City after Ling Yun berated her. She reflected on it for three whole days and nights before finally handing in her resignation letter yesterday.

Although Lin Menghan knew that Ling Yun was no longer nearsighted, she had personally chosen a pair of Bolon sunglasses for him.

Lin Menghan made a new bank card and unprecedentedly asked her family to send ten million yuan to her. She only kept one yuan.

Then, she bought plane tickets out of Qingshui City and wrote Ling Yun a letter. She plucked up her courage and U-turned away from her path to the airport to send these three things over to Ling Yun.

It was a thin piece of paper with a few hundred words. Lin Menghan must have cried many times over it for the words to become so fuzzy. The state of the letter looked as if it had been dried under the sun after being drenched.

“I will wait for you…” These were the last words on the letter.

Ling Yun read the letter silently before putting the letter neatly back into the envelope with utmost care. He kept it close to his heart.

Ling Yun’s mind brought him back to the time when he rescued Lin Menghan from the water… the time when she came to campus to deliver clothes to him and to the white one piece she was wearing then…

The Lin Menghan in a police uniform… the Lin Menghan in a cheongsam… the Lin Menghan who was burning with desire as she laid there butt-naked while being treated obediently by Ling Yun…

“I am not a prostitute…” She had Lin furrowed her beautifully shaped eyebrow in shame, creating a slight dent in her red lips.

Ling Yun recalled all the times he was with Lin Menghan. Her happiness, her anger, her tears, her anger…

“To resign like that… You’ve finally done something right for once. It may well be good that you left, since the scene of Qingshui City is about to change very soon…”

Just then, the taxi came to a halt. The driver turned to Ling Yun, who was seated in the back passenger seat. “We have reached the destination. Where should I go from here?”

“There’s no need. I am getting off here.” Ling Yun settled his bill and waited until there was no one in sight before he dashed to Mansion Number Nine using the Thousand Miles Godly Steps.

Ling Yun reached Mansion Number Nine as it turned unmistakably to night at 7:05PM.

Ning Lingyu had been waiting at the door of the mansion. Her neck was as long as a goose’s. Her eyes glistened with joy and she called out to Ling Yun as he came into sight. Her delicate body twisted from side to side as she shot out towards Ling Yun.

Ling Yun adjusted his mood, smiled lightly, and hurried forward.

“Where’s Mum?” Ling Yun asked Ning Lingyu with a smile.

“Mum is still preparing dinner. We bought a lot of stuff for tonight when we went shopping. The only thing we were missing is you!” Ning Lingyu said innocently, hugging Ling Yun’s arm.

“You should help Mum out. Why were you waiting for me at the door? It’s not like I wouldn’t come back.”

“She was just left with the last dish. I was worried about you…”

The mansion shone with splendor from the lights. If it was not for the empty living room, the mansion would feel like a court in the palace.

Even without actively listening, Ling Yun knew from the sounds emitted from the kitchen that Qin Qiuyue was busy from the moment he entered the mansion. “Let’s help Mum in the kitchen.” Ling Yun pulled Ning Lingyu along.

“I am back, Mum!” Ling Yun called out to Qin Qiuyue as the siblings entered the kitchen.

Qin Qiuyue turned back, her eyes meeting Ling Yun’s as she smiled affectionately. “Welcome home. What are you two doing in the kitchen? I am just finishing up the final dish. Lingyu, bring your brother to the dining room and prepare for dinner.”

At 7:30PM, Qin Qiuyue brought out the last dish to the dinner table, instructing Ning Lingyu with a twinkle in her eye, “Lingyu, bring out the new bottle of red wine we bought today.”

The family enjoyed quality time together, tasting the eight dishes that were fragrant and exquisitely made and the red wine that was opened by Lingyu.

Ling Yun thought that Qin Qiuyue had something to tell him over dinner since she insisted on his presence. However even one and a half hours into the meal, other than minor stuff about their studies, Qin Qiuyue did not brooch any other subjects.

Even Ning Lingyu seemed to be influenced by their Mother’s relaxed disposition. She had a dreamy look on her beautiful happy face as she refilled Ling Yun’s side dishes every now and then without asking him anything.

Qin Qiuyue and Ning Lingyu cleared the table after dinner. Their inaction startled Ling Yun as he thought to himself, “Could it really be just dinner? That’s just so weird…”

They just moved into a mansion worth fifty million yuan! Ling Yun had transferred another ten million into Lingyu’s account today! And they had nothing to ask him?!

Ling Yun could not help but think back to the the long and narrow quaint box in his mother’s room when they were moving today.

“What kind of treasure could it be?” Ling Yun pondered while looking up the ceiling. He sat on the sofa in the huge living room, enjoying the sound of the distant waves.

Qin Qiuyue and Ning Lingyu finished up the cleaning in a jiff, and the pair of divine beauties appeared in the living room side by side.

Ling Yun quickly stood up and gave his seat to his mother.

“Ling Yun, how is the renovation of your clinic going? What is the name of the clinic going to be?” Qin Qiuyue smiled and asked Ling Yun once she settled down.

“Erm…” Much as he liked to show off in front of Tang Meng and the others, he really did not dare to do the same in front of his mother.

“The renovation of the first floor is almost ready. We will start on the second floor tomorrow and, well, the purpose is to treat incurable diseases…”

Qin Qiuyue smiled knowingly shaking her head. “Tell Mum the truth. What is the name of the clinic?”

“Clinic for Terminal Patients,” Ling Yun replied, rubbing his head with embarrassment. He knew better than to hide it from mum.

“Pfft…” a snicker escaped Ning Lingyu involuntarily as she looked up to Ling Yun with a blush.

Qin Qiuyue, on the other hand, had a straight face, still smiling ever slightly. She firmly advised Ling Yun, “Ling Yun, Mum know that your medical skills are unparalleled, but this name is a no-go. The relevant government departments won’t even approve it.”

Ling Yun’s face reddened as he asked obediently, “Mum, what do you think is a suitable name then? I will follow your advice.”

This was the first time Qin Qiuyue had intervened in his affairs since Ling Yun had met her. He was all ears.

“You use the name from my clinic: the Common People’s Clinic. Simple and easy. The size of your clinic does not matter. Mum will not meddle with anything else, and it is your decision,” Qin Qiuyue said with a smile.

Ling Yun conceded immediately. “Yes, Mum, we will use that instead.” Ling Yun always had the autonomy for decision-making when he was with someone else, but he didn’t dare offend his mother.

Ling Yun sneaked a glare at the snickering Lingyu, scolding Tang Meng in his heart for telling on him.

There was not a single shard of doubt that Tang Meng told Ning Lingyu the name of the clinic he had decided at noon.

“Mum, I feel that there is too much empty space in our mansion. I have instructed Tang Meng to add some fittings and fixtures to our house. If you need anything, please let him know directly.”

“Ok!” Qin Qiuyue’s beautiful face broke into a peaceful smile without a hint of worry.

At that moment, Ling Yun received a text on his phone. His face changed as got onto his feet immediately upon reading the message.

The text came from Xiao Meimei.

“I am badly hurt. Zhuang Meifeng was kidnapped. Reply as soon as possible!”
