Chapter 2032: Extra Chapter 14: Extraordinary Actions for Extraordinary Times
Wufu was awakened by a fragrant scent and opened her eyes, still in the cave, and she jolted, sitting up quickly.
Damn it, it hurts!
Wufu groaned but couldn’t care less about the pain, glancing around. The child was lying beside her, and next to them was a pile of fire with a large chunk of meat sizzling and dripping oil, emitting a delicious aroma. She was covered with a fresh deer skin, exuding a bloody smell, clearly freshly skinned.
"Master." Xiao Qi came in holding a banana leaf bowl folded into a bowl shape, and seeing Wufu awake, he called out in surprise and delight.
"Xiao Qi, it really is you." Wufu relaxed, relieved it wasn’t a dream; Xiao Qi was indeed here.
Xiao Qi hurried over, squatted down, and handed over the banana leaf bowl filled with water.
Wufu was desperately in need of water, and despite it being cold, she gulped it down without hesitation.
"Couldn’t find suitable stone tools." Xiao Qi looked guilty; he’s been following Wufu for years and had plenty of people around; he knows that postpartum women shouldn’t drink cold water.
But now with no one guarding Wufu, he didn’t dare go far, so he returned immediately after finding water.
"It’s okay." Wufu smiled, "As long as we’re alive."
She glanced again at the deer skin covering her, and at her child beside her. The baby was wrapped in Xiao Qi’s clothes for warmth, sleeping soundly, though with his face covered so slightly that he looked even smaller.
"Master." Xiao Qi cut a chunk of venison, wrapped it in a banana leaf, and handed it to Wufu. "It’s deer meat."
He was quite lucky, having caught a deer, skinned it roughly to cover Wufu and the child, while roasting the meat.
"It’s a pity there’s nothing to collect the blood." Xiao Qi looked at the ground soaked with blood regretfully.
Following his gaze, Wufu looked over. Deer blood is highly nourishing, but without anything to collect it, there was nothing they could do. She took a bite of the meat and said, "Having food is good enough."
As master and servant ate, they talked, and Wufu asked Xiao Qi about the situation of their people outside.
"Chi Wu sent me to find you first, so I came." Xiao Qi said, "The young general also brought men to find you, but they went in the wrong direction."
Wufu frowned, "Young general?"
"Song Cheng." Xiao Qi recalled what seemed to be the name. "But I didn’t see anyone when I went out."
"How did you get out?"
Xiao Qi said, "I climbed out from up there."
Wufu looked over, the corner of her mouth twitching. He directly climbed out from the cave wall—well, she forgot that even after years of living with them, he sometimes still acts like a wolf, climbing skillfully.
"Xiao Qi, we’ll stay one more day, then leave here." Wufu said.
She just gave birth, and Little Bun, a premature Seven Stars, needs good care, and so does she. And here...
An ancient tomb cave, already deep into autumn, with the weather getting cold and nothing around—how can they recuperate here?
Xiao Qi said, "Master, your body is still weak."
"It’s okay, as long as I can walk." Wufu patted his head, "Extraordinary situations call for extraordinary measures."
It’s not a solution to keep hiding here; who knows if those wanting to catch her won’t pursue them again?
Xiao Qi seeing her insistence, nodded.
At that moment, Little Bun whimpered and started crying, Wufu quickly finished the meat in her hand, picked up the child, turned away from Xiao Qi, and skillfully fed her son.
