Doctor Reborn as a Peasant Girl? Time to Get Rich

Chapter 251: Boss Qian

A Wu panicked. “No, absolutely not! How could I do that? I’m a man, not an animal! Only an animal would use his wife to pay a debt. That carriage isn’t mine, either. A customer left it with me, and I have to deliver it soon. How could I use someone else’s property to cover my debt?”

“So you won’t do this, and you won’t do that. What do you want, then? Trying to skip out on your debt?” Boss Qian’s voice grew colder. The two thugs behind him instantly stepped forward, craning their necks to show off their muscles.

Terrified, A Wu’s wife clutched her daughter and took a step back, her body trembling even more violently.

A Wu said, “No, no, no! I would never try to get out of paying. I’m not that kind of person. Boss Qian, please, just give me a few more days’ grace. I swear I’ll raise the money to pay you back.”

Boss Qian huffed. “This isn’t the first time you’ve told me that. I’ve given you chances, but you’re the one who couldn’t come up with the money. So don’t blame me for being merciless…”

With that, Boss Qian shot a look at the thugs by his side.

The two thugs took the hint and lunged forward. One pinned down A Wu while the other went to grab his wife.

A Wu’s wife, poor woman, was still holding her young child. Already trembling in fear, she was suddenly yanked so violently by the thug that she lost her grip, and the child fell from her arms.

A Wu’s wife let out a piercing scream. Her child was already sick; if something terrible happened from the fall, how could she go on living?

Seeing this, A Wu tried to lunge forward to save his child but was held back by the other thug. He shoved his captor away with all his might, but by the time he turned around, the child was already being held in someone’s arms.

The child hadn’t hit the ground. Thank heavens!

Only then did he look up at the person who had saved his daughter. It was a man, tall and handsome, with cold, sharp eyes.

‘It’s him? The man who just gave me the carriage?’

“S-Sir? I… I didn’t mean to—” Hu Feng nodded at him. “Say no more. I understand.” With that, he turned and placed the child in the carriage, then walked back to A Wu’s wife and said to the thug holding her, “Let her go.”

The thug swallowed hard, a flicker of fear in his heart. But he couldn’t look weak in front of his boss, so he puffed out his chest. “Where did you spring from, brat? This is Boss Qian’s private business. You’d best mind your own.”

Hu Feng’s expression didn’t flicker. His low, cold voice rang out again. “I’ll ask you one last time. Are you going to let her go?”

The thug snarled, “I’m not letting go. What are you going to do about it?”

The words had barely left his mouth when the thug let out a wretched scream and collapsed, clutching his stomach, his face pale with agony.

A Wu’s wife was so frightened her face went as white as a sheet, and she trembled like a leaf in the wind.

Bai Zhi stepped forward and said to A Wu’s wife, “Ma’am, please go to the carriage and look after your child. Leave this to us.”

Tears of gratitude streamed down A Wu’s wife’s face. Not knowing what words of thanks would suffice, she said nothing at all and obediently retreated to the carriage.

“Who do you think you are? You dare meddle in Boss Qian’s affairs?” bellowed the thug who A Wu had just shoved aside.

Bai Zhi took two steps forward, placing herself in front of Hu Feng. She lifted her chin and said, “When one sees an injustice, anyone has the right to intervene.”

Boss Qian sneered. “Such a naive little girl. Injustice? Do you know who’s really been wronged here? It’s me!” He looked utterly indignant, the fleshy jowls on his fat face trembling with agitation.
