Chapter 5359: The Deserted Main Entrance
Chapter 5359: The Deserted Main Entrance
On the peak above the secluded training grounds, steam curled from a cup as one of his wives poured tea for him.
It was none other than Zenova.
The tea was pale and clear, the kind she favored when she did not intend to speak of war. Davis accepted it, blew once across the surface, and drank as though he deserved it. Myria had already left, staying by Evelynn and Isabella’s side, who had come out to see but were by the mansion.
Stella and Tia were already forced to go out to discuss future plans of the continent and the sanctuary with the others.
The skies were dark, but a particular side of the mansion in the estate was bloodied, while every other place was silent, reacting to it as if it didn’t exist.
Zenova set the pot down. Her voice was even, but the line of her mouth was not, as she pursed her lips and started.
"The children have everything they need for growth and being nurtured into healthy human beings with values suitable to our family. Even if I have not personally engaged, we talk to them, play with them, the atmosphere is full of warmth, and there are many mothers who would go above and beyond for them just to see this family succeed, your legacy succeed. I must say it is a bit disheartening to see the first continuation of your legacy suffer like this."
Davis blew a soft breath on the tea before taking a sip.
"Yeah... I feel bad a bit when Everdream and Evergrace cried. I always love to see them be cradled in happiness as I see their laughter echo across the halls and chambers of our mansion, but when it comes to training, there’s no choice but for me to turn into a demon or they wouldn’t survive. The lack of experience must be filled with pure effort and meaningful suffering."
"Still, even for me, it’s pretty hard to watch him leave a bloody trail across the entrance of the mansion. He has been completely unconscious for an hour now, unable to wake up, and to top it all, he barely passed the exit of the main mansion and didn’t even make it to the courtyard in half a day, remaining sprawled over the stone steps. He looks like a bloodied corpse that’s rotting for hours. Don’t you think his soul will collapse first at this rate instead of his Will being tempered?"
"..."
Davis blinked.
As the culprit, how could he not know any of this?
Some guests and even the maids avoided the main entrance like they were avoiding a plague, afraid that they’d be silenced since they should not be witnessing such a scene. Initially, they had even literally thought that Azariel was assassinated. If he hadn’t informed them through soul transmission, they might’ve rung the alarm bells or gone crazy.
One of them even cried and threw herself at Azariel and bawled her eyes out, but upon seeing that he was still alive, she heaved a sigh of relief and walked back to her duties, both reluctant and worried.
Naturally, Davis didn’t doubt there were secret admirers for his sons, and one had come out now. Even if they didn’t dare approach Azariel because he practiced poison, they were bound to hold him in high regard and wouldn’t mind losing their first time to him should he be nudged twice.
Nonetheless, even if Zenova reminded him, he could tell that his actions had gone too far as a father and husband, even if he found himself right as the teacher.
Just a single sweep of his soul sense told him that the bustling Davis Family estate was now as silent as a courtyard without cicadas crying.
He sighed lightly, "Why are you all underestimating my son? Let him overcome the trial I placed before him. And yeah, I didn’t think this would be over in a day either, much less half a day. Let us go about our duties while he makes his way here. We will converge again when he finally arrives here. On the other hand, I’ll go finish the remaining documents."
"Wait-"
Zenova raised her hand, but he had already left the secluded training grounds, disappearing as if he had never been there, which left a bizarre taste in the air.
She heaved a breath lightly and pulled back her hand, placing it over her stomach as she caressed it warmly, "Don’t worry. I’ll see to it that your father doesn’t bully you, for I will be harsh on you from the beginning, so he will have no choice but to take your side."
She walked over and took the teacup up. After a moment of pause, she took a sip and finished the tea before it could go cold.
Licking her lips, she took the teacup back into her spatial ring and also turned around to leave, but she didn’t fly or move fast, walking normally like a mortal as she moved across the mountain.
The secluded training ground became emptier than ever.
Davis returned to administration work, but whenever Azariel woke up, the latter could barely take two steps before he would faint again. Davis didn’t let it go. He always kept an eye on Azariel and maintained the soul pressure like a pressure cooker boiling Azariel alive.
He knew it was a miracle Azariel hadn’t snapped and called for him to stop.
No matter what his mother said on his behalf, there wasn’t a single word of complaint from Azariel himself, making Davis honestly impressed. His son stood up like a champion and fell like a winner every time he tried to withstand his soul pressure. The more he did this, the more Davis became confident Azariel wouldn’t collapse under any pressure he would face in the Six-Headed Hydra Upper Realm should he become a Realm Master.
Days passed as he did his work and nearly finished it despite many complaints from his wives and even Mingzhi, who came to plead with him to stop it.
It was now three days from the point he started training Azariel, and it wasn’t until the night of the second day that the true body exited and finally appeared in the secluded training grounds, ready to transform Azariel, as he felt it was nearly time.
Azariel finally emerged from the stone steps, his robe bloodied, yet his stride was no longer wobbly. He walked with forceful yet heavy steps and arrived at the secluded training grounds in an unswaying motion.
His third eye seemed to have shut closed from the incredible stress. It was closed. Yet his pair of eyes were wide open, gleaming with an extraordinary light Davis hadn’t witnessed before, causing the latter’s eyes to gleam satisfactorily.
