Chapter 5340: Godmother? Adopted Granddaughter?
Chapter 5340: Godmother? Adopted Granddaughter?
Fairy Qiyra Darkstar shook her head, "No need to downplay your achievements. If this father of yours doesn’t treat you very well or suppresses you because you were born a stranger, you can come to me. I can accept you as my personal disciple- no, my adopted granddaughter."
"...!"
"In fact, we don’t need to wait that long. You can become my granddaughter right now."
Both Davis and Lydia were shocked. Davis stood up and flicked his sleeve.
"Hey! Stop poaching my daughter from me."
Fairy Qiyra Darkstar finally turned to look at him, her gaze piercing and her voice cold as ice, than a icy star, "How am I poaching your daughter when I’m only accepting her as my granddaughter? You should start calling me mother or godmother reverentially when that happens."
Davis’s lips twitched, "The seniority is being messed up..."
"I don’t think you really care about seniority, do you?"
"Ha... ha... Fairy Qiyra knows me well."
Davis laughed dryly, "But you can’t take her as your granddaughter. It’s better if you can take her as your second master instead, since she knows more about Astral Cultivation than you. Am I right?"
Lydia’s brows twitched.
That wrecks the seniority even more, doesn’t it? And how would she dare accept the other party as a disciple even if she was willing?
Was her father trying to get her killed instead? Can’t he sense the brewing killing intent?
Fairy Qiyra continued giving Davis a death stare before taking her gaze away from him.
"I won’t ever accept another master in this lifetime."
Davis clicked his tongue, "Then have a simple student-teacher relationship. Learn from her when you can. It wouldn’t be a bad thing for you since I doubt you have rarely ever come across authentic astral cultivation arts. It would also help your support astral cultivation immensely. She’s a child yet not a child, only three hundred years old in mentality but a nine-year-old at heart. I wish Fairy Qiyra would look past her small body and see the brains behind it. My daughter is super amazing. I can stamp this recommendation with my personal token."
"Father!~"
Lydia yelled embarrassedly, but the two of them seemed to be at odds, with sparks flying between them.
At this rate, she might really become a master or an adopted granddaughter.
She jumped off the bed and fled, "Don’t bring me into this!"
Davis finally turned his head away to watch his daughter run off. He was about to chase and tease her, but at the corner of his eyes, he caught sight of Fairy Qiyra’s lips curling at Lydia’s fleeing silhouette.
"You smiled, didn’t you, senior?"
He pointed at her, causing her expression to freeze before she said, "Scram. I won’t be polite if you continue to stay in my bedchambers anymore."
"Ah, what a wicked astral demoness. If it weren’t for the debt of gratitude, I really would’ve put an astronomical fee on your treatment costs!"
Davis roared before he also ran off before she could use her darkness immortal energy and her revived astral energy to send him flying. He didn’t doubt she would use it.
However, he stopped at the doors and turned to look at her.
"Fairy Qiyra, after you have refreshed, come out quickly. I need to talk to you about Lydia since I fear she might hop on a flying palace like this one and leave for the Starshroud Family to stop that Divergent when I am not looking. She can be weirdly decisive- like me."
He chuckled before seeing himself out, leaving Fairy Qiyra alone.
She made an expression of surprise, wondering if Davis meant for her to protect Lydia from the corruption that’s taking place in the Grand Divine Phoenix Constellation if she asked for her help. Moreover, she supposed Lydia hadn’t fully lost connection since she had most likely been reborn from its grace. A minor amount of influence could still be thrust over her from the corruption.
She heaved a breath and walked towards the bath chamber.
She lightly raised her hand and sniffed the back of her palm, wondering if she smelled because of all that perspiration and bad blood she coughed up earlier.
Outside, Davis was praised by Fairy Glacia and the others, but like a doting father, he pushed all of the credit to Lydia.
He wanted everyone to remember her actions so that they could look at her in a positive light.
He was proud of her, bragging and showing off more of her knowledge about the Astral Cultivation Path, which the junior disciples seemed to be clueless about, including himself.
Somehow, Lydia instantly became their favorite since she also learned how to speak frankly and cheekily from her siblings, greatly amusing them.
Eventually, Fairy Qiyra Darkstar also appeared, which allowed Davis to break the matter of the corruption.
Although Lydia already knew, she couldn’t help but feel sullen.
She had literally worshiped the Grand Divine Phoenix Constellation as its priestess. Her entire previous life had been dedicated to being a Phoenix Priestess, and she sang praises of it nearly every day. How could she not feel the urge to break the corruption?
But at the same time, not only was she a helpless Seventh Stage cultivator, but she was also a Davis Family member. How could she put the others in jeopardy when they had finally found a place to settle down for quite some time?
She couldn’t burden her family that was already fighting for survival.
But at the same time, millions of astral cultivators from many powers were connected to the Grand Divine Phoenix Constellation. If the corruption was complete, then there was no telling what kind of disaster could ensue.
She feared all of them might become slaves to the strange and unknown Divergent forces behind her death.
Davis suggested informing the Celestial Transcendent, but Lydia shook her head.
"The Heaven’s Warriors would absolutely destroy the constellation. Naturally, the Grand Phoenix Divine Formation will revive due to its unique nature, but they might seal it because it will be reborn with the corruption. This is not a unique occurrence. I think they have destroyed quite a few Minor Constellations already and many distant constellations in the past when disasters struck. This is why cultivating the astral path is not recommended, even if it makes one more powerful than the average immortals and transcendents at the higher stages, as long as the cultivator could connect to higher layer stars from the beginning of their cultivation."
"I see..."
Davis uttered softly as he petted Lydia’s head, "So you want to clear it of its corruption without destroying it? Do you think that’s possible?"
"It should be possible. There’s a Saint who could use Purification Laws. All forms of corruption, whether it be remnant energy from karmic attacks, curses, or other negative forms of foreign energy, could be dispersed with it. It is rumored that this Saint can also get rid of corruption from the unknown forces unbeknownst to the human race."
"Whoa, who has such a Law?" Davis raised his brows in surprise.
Lydia’s lips curled, "Saint Orpheus Oberon, also known as the Hand of Celestial Light, bearing the title Divine Saint of Purification. They say in front of him, evil ceases to exist."
