Chapter 3908 Mending
Chapter 3908 Mending
Davis's expression was solemn.
For the World Master to mention a tinge of her unrestricted blood essence, it could very well may be another word for true essence blood. However, that was something refined out of the entire blood essence one would have, so it wasn't possible.
Then again, for the concept of true soul to exist, he also thought it wouldn't be strange if something similar were to be present in blood essence.
Regardless, to hear an ungodly pill residing in the Primeval Universe Ruins was chilling.
'Did the World Master hope I would gain it upon traversing to the Primeval Universe Ruins as she did for Rokushi Mirai and the black-white stone? Or did she really…'
Davis gazed at Saintess Lunaria, wondering if the pill was meant for her.
He couldn't be half drunk about this pill if it was meant for Saintess Lunaria. The World Master never really meant many things through words as she was careful about karmic burden or even fate itself as some things just couldn't be said or risk that it won't happen.
"Perhaps we could go search for it after our lives have all stabilized." Davis offered, "Can't indulge in a treasure hunt while our families are in trouble, right?"
"That's true." Saintess Lunaria's voice trembled as she suppressed a peal of laughter, "My disciples have also shown themselves finally after managing to hide themselves millions of years. I feel like I've committed the greatest sin of my life by exposing them to the world and ruining millions of years of work. I have to cultivate hard and become the master they deserve."
"Indeed." Davis nodded, not doubting Saintess Lunaria's potential was great since she was literally World Master's daughter.
"What about trying to kill me?" However, he wryly smiled.
"…" Saintess Lunaria went silent. Her eyes looked away as her lips moved.
"Maybe the second best…?"
"…"
After three whole seconds of stare, Saintess Lunaria lowered her head.
"Forgive me. I took liberties with you, thinking I had jurisdiction over you as I thought of you as my responsibility, which went too far. Perhaps years of ruling over a sect had gotten to my head-"
"No," Davis's smile brightened upon hearing her apologize sincerely, "it's understandable that you would think you have jurisdiction over me since I was indeed in your Aurora Cloud Gate. However, I wish you would've believed me instead of taking things into your hands. That was disappointing and honestly hurtful as I really wanted to look up to you as an elder."
"I-"
Davis raised his hand, interrupting her, "In any case, I wish to no longer look back after you helped me. I may not be kind, but I am not an unforgiving person or stubborn enough to never change my outlook on certain matters, even if it is about life and death. Fortunately, you were never hostile to my family, so all that happened between us can be rectified. I accept your apology, Saintess Lunaria, and I'm sorry that I insulted your character."
"No need to. You didn't say anything other than what I deserved for making such a foolish decision. In fact, brushing aside the shame, your words opened my eyes as people never insulted me out of the respect they have for me, even if I did something wrong. Your insult truly widened my horizons, which had narrowed after being surrounded by countless adorers and well-wishers." Saintess Lunaria's melodious voice echoed with some embarrassment.
She hid her face behind Shimei, who came closer to console her.
"Well, glad I could be of help to your monotonous life." Davis sarcastically commented, but he still smiled genially.
It seemed that she helped him not only because of the matter the World Master asked her to take care of, but she was truly ashamed enough to rectify her mistake and apologize by saving him from the jaws of death. Only then did she apologize sincerely, with actions and not just words.
Davis changed his opinion of her.
She had always protected the Aurora Cloud Gate, which he and his family had been a part of, and even cured his father from Accursed Warlock's malediction curse. What more did he need from her to reconcile with her?
"How rude. My life isn't monotonous. Each day— a new flower blooms, and a new being grows. Each and every action has a meaning, or we give it meaning ourselves, not making life stale. As immortals, you would find that life can be quickly boring, but if you discipline yourself, nothing can stop you. As long as you-"
"…"
Davis quickly found himself being lectured for the next ten minutes.
Now that they had reconciled, Saintess Lunaria fully let go of herself and became a teacher who wanted to teach life lessons.
Fortunately, Wix Voidfield came five minutes into the scene and provided him with refreshments to enjoy Saintess Lunaria's voice. He guessed others wouldn't have this opportunity, so he threw away the words and just listened to her voice, which was much more soothing and warm.
"What are your plans for the future?"
Saintess Lunaria had just ended one lecture and was about to start another, but Davis interrupted.
"Me? Save Mother and survive with everyone else I care about. Nothing else matters, not the people here or the people in the Aurora Cloud Gate, as I've severed my relations with them to not bring them harm."
"Huh? When did that happen? Wouldn't that become a big news? The realm rulers would be frantically searching for you now in another meaning. After all, you're a Saintess."
"That's why I always kept a note saying that I was never a part of the Aurora Cloud Gate and was only someone who took shelter in one of its palaces and oversaw some of the affairs. In reality, the sect was always taken care of by the Sect Leader and the Elders, so my note shouldn't go against the narrative I've built. This should help them stay afloat. Furthermore, since I went missing, it would be possible that they would either strengthen the rumors that I'm a Divergent or think Divergents kidnapped me. Either way, it is fine."
"I see."
Davis nodded.
"What is yours?" Saintess Lunaria asked, her gaze curious.
"Literally the same as you. Just survive in this cruel world together with my family. At the end, I would reach the peak and overlook the land, removing myself from the playground. Then there may come a day when Divergents are no longer persecuted, or it might just be me persecuting them, forming a cycle again."
Davis chuckled, but Saintess Lunaria looked taken aback, "You plan to put an end to this cycle?"
Seeing Saintess Lunaria overreact, Davis blinked, wondering if that wasn't an overreaction.
He spread his hands, "I don't know. It's just one of those thoughts I have over 'what would I do if I reach the peak'? Until I reach it, I really can't say anything for sure. Right now, I just want to survive. Without you being there to stop me, the situation would've been much more disastrous."
Davis cupped his hands, "You have my thanks again. As for the debt I hold towards you, you would be glad to know that I have reinstated that."
"Hehe~" Saintess Lunaria giggled, holding Shimei's face as she caressed her, "You can't just throw away debts whenever you want."
"I can."
Davis appeared smug. With Fallen Heaven, he could pretty much just cut the karmic threads and be done with any type of debt. He was truly free because he was unrestricted and unimpeded. Only— the price of using Fallen Heaven was too much that the heavens or even the natural laws would kick him out of the universe.
He could hear it say, 'Cheater, begone' from the depths of the skies.
Regardless, ever since entering the Immortal Emperor Stage, Davis was filled with boundless confidence.
"Speak." Davis flicked his sleeves with arrogance, "I will try to fulfill one of your wishes apart from the treasure hunt, which we both have a responsibility to obtain and become powerful in order to save her."
