Diary of a Dead Wizard

Chapter 677: Two Letters

Scorpion’s commotion alerted Noah, who was studying inside the “temple.” He glanced at the homemade calendar on the wall and immediately realized today was the day Saul would come to see him.

Noah rushed out of the room with joy on his face, just in time to see Saul picking up Scorpion from the ground and making him stand properly to speak.

Saul looked over. “What are you doing? Giving me a divine title?”

At this moment, Saul was speaking in the wizard common language, which Scorpion couldn’t understand at all. Even listening to a few more sentences made him feel dizzy.

Noah gave a dry laugh. “Teacher, I think this makes it easier to control the people of this world. Although they don’t know magic and have low strength, they already have their own power divisions. Having the title of a god allows us to control them better.”

These days, Saul had also been expanding his influence in the wizard world, so he immediately understood what Noah wanted to do.

“You have such thoughts?” Saul didn’t object. As long as Noah could complete the tasks he assigned, Saul didn’t care what methods Noah used.

“But this method might not be as simple as you imagine.”

Noah gathered his courage. “I understand. I’ll try slowly. Teacher, may I request some combat magical tools from you?”

Saul looked at the solemn gate behind Noah, knowing that Noah had things figured out, so he nodded in agreement.

“Here’s what we’ll do—I’ll take you back for one day. During that day, you can consider what things you want to bring over.”

Noah’s body wasn’t suitable for staying long-term in the magic-active wizard world, but returning for a few days wouldn’t be a problem.

Since he chose a top-down path, he needed to be prepared for struggle.

Although this world was somewhat post-apocalyptic, it had its own culture.

They could understand the concept of gods, so naturally they had their own similar beliefs.

Cultural invasion would ultimately lead to bloody warfare.

So after a day’s cooldown period, the two left Scorpion behind and returned to the wizard world.

Another day later, Scorpion was nervously crouching by the stone, continuing his work.

This was the first time Noah had left since he’d been staying in the black desert, and although he had told Scorpion before leaving that he would return in a few days, being alone in the temple for the first time made Scorpion extremely uneasy.

He was very afraid he had actually been abandoned here.

This was the depths of the black death desert. If he were left here alone, he would die quickly after the food ran out.

The anxious Scorpion didn’t dare stop his work. Keeping himself busy prevented him from being overwhelmed by fear.

Fortunately, on the third morning, Noah emerged from the temple with a smile on his face.

He wore black wizard apprentice robes with simple magical formations inscribed for fire protection and water avoidance.

These robes could instantly activate mage armor, requiring only periodic replacement of the magic crystal at the collar.

Around Noah’s wrist was a golden python-shaped bracelet.

This was a meeting gift from Jiajia Gu—an offensive magical tool that could transform into a giant python at any time.

The python’s size was variable, reaching a maximum of one meter thick and nearly a hundred meters long.

However, this state was quite draining on magic crystals. Even carrying a full bag of magic crystals, Noah would need to use them carefully.

Looking at the completely renewed Noah, Scorpion swallowed enviously and stepped forward. “Lord Noah, you’ve returned? Where is Lord Judge?”

Noah glared at Scorpion. “Don’t address him carelessly. ‘Death Judge’ needs no additional cumbersome titles like ‘Lord.'”

“Yes.” Scorpion quickly bowed.

Noah thought Scorpion was very clever. Although such people tended to have their own schemes, under absolute power suppression, such schemes weren’t problematic and could actually save Noah a lot of explanation.

“The Death Judge will not frequently descend to this barren world.” Being unsure about this world’s power limits, Noah cautiously didn’t immediately raise the divine banner. “However, He has granted your request.”

Noah shook his robes. “Next, I will go to your tribe with you. If your tribe is willing to become the Judge’s servants, I will give you the chance for rebirth.”

Scorpion’s eyes slowly widened. Thinking about returning to see his tribal chief with Lord Noah, he couldn’t suppress his growing excitement for some reason.

After sending Noah back, Saul began his final power accumulation.

While others used time to research how to push open the doors within their bodies, he used it to study how to simultaneously absorb and contain the pollution entering his body while opening doors.

After dozens of days of preparation, Saul finally emerged from the Purity Wizard Tower again.

Rhine Lake was still sealed by thick ice, but outside the lake was a scene of lush greenery.

Behind the gray-white giant mushroom forest, a circle of low houses had been built, with walls under construction around the perimeter.

It looked like the Purity Wizard Tower was about to transform from an independent building into a small settlement.

Saul snapped his fingers, calling over Diu Diu, who was preening its feathers on the roof.

“I have two letters here. Deliver one to Pei’er. Give the other to the Stargate Council people stationed nearby… you know about the Stargate Council, right?”

Diu Diu immediately raised its chin and squinted at him.

“Good, seems like you know.”

Saul confidently handed the two letters to Diu Diu. Diu Diu’s tendrils extended out and immediately wrapped around the two letters with a “crackle,” making them wrinkled.

“Tsk.” Watching Diu Diu fly away, Saul could only click his tongue helplessly.

The letter to the Stargate Council informed them that he had completed magic power accumulation and the basic ability to open doors.

The letter to Pei’er was a promise to her.

Pei’er hadn’t appeared since sealing the Storm Eye, seemingly developing uncontrollable fear toward Saul.

Even at Old Days Manor, she hadn’t come within ten meters of Saul.

This made Saul increasingly certain that something about him was affecting Pei’er.

Although he didn’t completely know what had happened to Pei’er, this issue had to be resolved.

Otherwise, inner demons would become mental pollution sources, ultimately causing powerful wizards to become cowardly monsters.

So in his letter, Saul told Pei’er that after completing his third-rank ceremony, he would do everything possible to help her dispel the clouds of fear above her head.

Watching Diu Diu’s figure disappear into the horizon, Saul turned back into the wizard tower.

Agu, who had been waiting by the door, followed at the right moment.

“Master, during this time Herman and Ann have redesigned their respective Soul Armaments. Would you like to review them?”

Saul glanced sideways. “I won’t look. Just tell them directly that their plans need improvement.”

Agu was stunned. “Tell them directly that they won’t work?”

Saul smiled. “They want to complete Soul Armament upgrades before my advancement so they can help during the advancement ceremony. But such improvement plans are inevitably designed hastily and will likely have hidden problems. Tell them directly it won’t work and have them try harder to do their best.”

Saul stopped walking, and Agu immediately stopped as well, the distance between them unchanged.

“Soul Armaments directly modify the soul body. To reduce negative effects on the soul body, we must make each modification perfect.”

Agu nodded. “I understand, Master. I’ll watch over those two.”

Saul looked at Agu. His Soul Armament modification direction was different from the other two consciousness bodies.

Agu focused on strengthening the spiritual body, so his combat ability hadn’t changed much. But he was consciously improving thinking ability and memory, reading large amounts of books daily. His goal was reportedly to become Saul’s private library.

Regarding Agu’s choice, Saul currently had no corresponding modification experience and could only let him research and explore on his own, at most occasionally checking progress to see if Agu’s research had major problems.

“Be careful yourself too.”

“I won’t let you worry.” Agu smiled in response.

“Although the hundred-year agreement isn’t up, when your consciousness body’s strength is sufficient, I’ll allow you to go out independently. If you have things you want to do or people you want to find, you can go do them or find them.”

Saul suddenly thought of something amusing. “Oh right, if you encounter danger outside, you can call me through the diary, and I’ll immediately retrieve you into the diary.”

“Having a hearthstone with you at all times—why not go out and have fun?”

Agu: “Although I don’t quite understand, it sounds very impressive.”
