Chapter 4617: Oh Well
Chapter 4617: Oh Well
The cultivation resumed, and the days went on.
During that time, the Godly Pressure Project continued to expand, growing several times larger than it had been when it first started. More and more Regions began capturing their own Godly Horrors to establish facilities where their cultivators could gradually adapt to Godly Pressure.
Of course, Besgol still held a significant advantage thanks to its Godly Crystal Farm. After all, the Region possessed the powerful Godly Crystal that attracted more Godly Horrors over time, giving it a considerable edge over everyone else.
Speaking of the Crystal Farm, its safety had always depended largely on the crater where the lingering energy remained. That energy kept Godly Creatures away from the area. More importantly, the crater provided a safe retreat if something went wrong in the farm that was near it. Even if a situation deteriorated beyond what the cultivators could handle, they could fall back to the crater and escape the surrounding dangers.
Unfortunately, that lingering energy had never been expected to last forever. According to the original estimates, it would remain for only several decades. By now, decades had already passed, and the Besgol Region could clearly tell that the energy was nearing its end.
Once it disappeared, the situation would become considerably more complicated. Without that protection, Besgol’s cultivators would no longer be able to maintain a farm so far from the Region’s borders, surrounded by the territories of countless Godly Creatures.
Consequently, while the twins’ group continued cultivating, the entire arrangement began to change. The Godly Horrors that had been sealed near the original farm were gradually prepared to be transported back toward Besgol, where a new farm was under construction.
This time, however, the facility would be established much closer to the Sacred Relic’s Influence, allowing the cultivators to remain within reach of Besgol’s protection while still operating outside the area where Godly Pressure was suppressed.
Unfortunately, choosing such a location introduced several disadvantages compared to the original farm. First, the new farm’s proximity to the Sacred Relic’s Influence meant that attracting large numbers of Godly Horrors would also draw enormous hordes of other Godly Creatures toward Besgol’s borders.
If the situation spiraled out of control, the Region might not have enough time to organize its defenses properly. Even with all its Law Gods working together, responding to an unexpected horde near the borders would be far more difficult than dealing with one deep inside the Godly Creatures’ Territories.
The sealed Godly Horrors themselves presented another problem. If Besgol’s cultivators were ever forced to retreat, the surrounding Godly Creatures might take advantage of the chaos to free the imprisoned Horrors.
In that case, Besgol could suddenly find itself facing several Godly Horrors attacking from right outside its borders. At the original farm, which was more than two weeks of airplane travel away, such a disaster wouldn’t threaten Besgol directly. The distance alone provided a considerable safety margin, but the new location offered no such luxury.
To prevent that possibility, the new Godly Crystal Farm was designed with an additional safeguard. The arrays used to contain the Godly Horrors would also contain Teleport Arrays, each connected to a corresponding containment array inside Besgol.
If the farm came under threat, the sealed creatures could be transported directly into those prepared containment facilities instead of being left behind for the surrounding Godly Creatures to release. It wasn’t a perfect solution to every possible danger, but it gave Besgol another layer of protection.
Naturally, the Godly Pressure Project couldn’t operate inside the Sacred Relic’s Influence itself. After all, the Relic’s primary function was to eliminate Godly Pressure. With no Godly Pressure to adapt to, the project would be pointless. The Godly Horrors therefore had to remain outside the Influence, even if the new farm’s location made the entire operation considerably more dangerous in some areas.
Eventually, the time came to relocate the Godly Colossus’s Crystal. Every Law God in Besgol joined forces to oversee the transfer. It was, without question, the most valuable item in the entire Region and probably one of the most valuable treasures among all the Regions with which Besgol maintained contact. Countless arrays had been constructed to protect it, and the relocation was no exception. Nobody wanted to take unnecessary risks with a treasure of such importance.
Fortunately, Besgol had Rean.
He was summoned from his cultivation seclusion to assist with the transfer, joining Flugel and several other Array Masters to inspect the arrays that would protect the Godly Colossus’s Crystal. Their task was to ensure that no one had tampered with the arrangements or planted any hidden weaknesses that could be exploited during the move.
Since Rean had been the one to discover the backdoor in the original protection system, Tobao was especially determined to have him examine everything repeatedly. If there was even the slightest possibility of sabotage, he wanted Rean to find it before the crystal was moved.
Rean didn’t mind the request. The inspection and transfer would interrupt his cultivation for a few weeks, but that was hardly a serious problem. Technically, he wasn’t even stopping cultivation entirely. While Rean focused on the arrays, Roan, Celis, and Kentucky continued cultivating through their shared cultivation connection.
Their progress still contributed to Rean’s advancement, although the overall cultivation speed decreased because he wasn’t participating directly. Even so, the difference was manageable, and Rean had no reason to complain about helping Besgol with such an important task.
In the end, the transfer proceeded without any complications. The Godly Colossus’s Crystal was safely relocated, and the new farm was established with the crystal at its center. With that matter settled, Besgol’s Law Gods turned their attention toward moving the sealed Godly Horrors into their new containment facilities. They still had plenty of work ahead of them, but at least the most valuable and dangerous part of the relocation had been completed successfully.
As for Rean, his involvement was over. The remaining arrangements were no longer his responsibility, and he could finally return his attention to cultivation.
—
Four and a half years passed before the next breakthrough finally arrived.
*Boom!*
A tremendous burst of Godly Energy erupted from the twins’ group’s residence, spreading through the surrounding area and drawing the attention of countless cultivators. The commotion was impossible to ignore, especially for those who had already witnessed the group’s previous breakthroughs. However, this time, the reaction was even more pronounced. Their last breakthrough hadn’t happened all that long ago, so nobody had expected another such event so soon.
The Branch Master of the Godly Subjugation Guild wasn’t nearly as surprised as everyone else. He had been present for the previous breakthroughs, and after witnessing the group’s absurd cultivation speed several times, he had practically grown numb to it.
More importantly, he was one of the very few cultivators in Besgol who knew exactly how many cultivation resources the group possessed. Considering their reserves, their progress wasn’t quite as inexplicable as it appeared to outsiders. "Guess I need to make another report to Senior Clasou."
—
Inside the twins’ group’s residence, the Godly Energy gradually settled after the breakthrough. Rean, Roan, Celis, and Kentucky could finally turn their attention toward their newly acquired strength and examine the changes brought by their advancement.
"Middle Stage of the Zone God Realm, huh..." Rean remarked after a moment. "In the end, we really didn’t gain anything new from advancing within this Realm."
Roan remained unconcerned. "It doesn’t matter. Higher cultivation means greater strength. That’s all we need. As we are now, we should have no trouble fighting Initial Godly Horrors on our own. Law Gods would be more difficult, though. Unlike Godly Creatures, cultivators possess intelligence and can adapt their tactics to their opponents."
Kentucky grinned. "But Law Gods are also the ones most likely to underestimate us and end up dead because of it. I like being much stronger than my cultivation level suggests. How many times have we won because our opponents failed to realize what we could do?"
Celis, however, wasn’t particularly interested in discussing their combat advantages. His attention was already on the resources they had consumed and what remained. "Ten Initial Godly Horror Crystals, just as I calculated. Now that we’ve reached the Middle Stage, we can cultivate for a while longer. After that, I’ll be able to determine more precisely whether we have enough Godly Horror Crystals to reach the Late Stage or not."
*Zush, zush, zush...*
Roan tossed stabilization pills to everyone, making sure each of them received what they needed. "First, we take a break and consolidate our strength."
"Another month!" Kentucky’s eyes lit up immediately, clearly hoping to stretch the recovery period as long as possible.
"Two weeks," Roan corrected him without hesitation. "This was only a breakthrough between stages, not an entire Realm. Two weeks will be more than enough to get us back on track."
Celis glanced at him. "A week would probably be sufficient, actually. Still, I won’t complain about having the time. Two weeks is better than a month of waiting, at least."
Roan ignored their comments and got to his feet. When he noticed Rean watching him, he immediately understood what his brother wanted to ask. "I get it."
Without further discussion, Roan headed toward the nest where Lunelle had been cultivating. The young Eternal Night Raven had been waiting for this moment, and Roan already knew she was ready. "You’re prepared, right?"
Lunelle opened her eyes and answered calmly, ’Yes.’
Her feathers were practically brimming with Godly Energy. The black plumage that had once covered her body had gradually taken on a striking combination of navy blue and gold, the colors spreading across her feathers as her energy continued to accumulate.
Lunelle had already maintained this state for more than a month, but she had deliberately held back her breakthrough. She knew Rean, Roan, Celis, and Kentucky were approaching their own advancement, and she had chosen to wait until they were finished before proceeding with hers.
"Good." Roan carefully picked her up and settled her on his shoulder. "Let’s leave Besgol. You can gain your new feather somewhere outside the Region."
*Rawr!*
Luxa immediately leaped onto Rean’s shoulder, her three tails swishing excitedly behind her. ’Let’s go with them! I want to see my little sister’s breakthrough!’
Rean smiled and gently stroked the fur on her head. "You should learn from Lunelle. Your last breakthrough came so suddenly that we barely had time to react, and you ended up getting us into a lot of trouble. Next time you feel like you’re about to evolve again, make sure you warn us in advance."
Luxa nodded enthusiastically. ’Okay!’
Rean stared at her for a moment, finding that response far less reassuring than it should have been. Given Luxa’s track record, he had little confidence that she would actually remember his warning when the time came. "Sigh... Oh well."
