Death… And Me

Chapter 4513: Aerial Space

Chapter 4513: Aerial Space

’Isn’t that too risky?’ Kentucky couldn’t help but ask.

’Maybe,’ Roan admitted. ’In any case, we won’t go out now. There is still more we can discover in this city, and rushing toward something as dangerous as the Ghost of Woster without knowing what we’re dealing with would be foolish. For now, I’m going to find the other pillars and check them one by one to see if I can find any clues.’

’Alright, everyone just go back to whatever they were doing,’ Roan said. ’If anything happens, let me know.’

Thery’s group, where Celis could be found, continued to investigate the western section of the city for a while longer. They eventually found one or another Thousand-Script Race member who seemed to have a bloodline as strong as theirs, which gave Thery and the others more opportunities to gather information about the local situation.

Thery could see why Fornetia had thought he was part of the Thousand-Script Sect in the northern section or the Thousand-Script Faction within the Rosvelt Sect in the central section. The Thousand-Script cultivators they found were indeed affiliated with those two powers, and there didn’t seem to be many other organizations in Dlaval where someone with a sufficiently pure bloodline could be found.

Things didn’t go too well when Thery attempted to make contact, though. They were all pretty arrogant, especially the ones from the central section. At first, they saw that Thery, Haniala, and Sison looked like they had thick bloodlines and assumed they were part of the same powers. They were willing to talk and even showed some interest in them.

However, the moment they noticed Thery wasn’t affiliated with either of the two, their attitudes completely changed. The warmth disappeared, replaced by indifference and contempt as they treated Thery’s group like trash. It was obvious that they had already encountered plenty of unaffiliated Thousand-Script cultivators attempting to gain their favor, and they had no interest in wasting time on another group.

Thery could have revealed that he was a Law God cultivator, which would undoubtedly have changed their attitudes. However, he decided not to do so for the moment. Revealing his cultivation might make it easier to gather information, but it could also raise far more questions than it answered, especially considering that he and his companions were supposed to have grown up in Woster.

"This isn’t going anywhere," Arcis couldn’t help but comment as he watched the last Thousand-Script cultivator leave them behind.

Thery pondered a bit. "They all thought we were some untalented experts who were trying to curry their favor or something like that. And from the looks of it, such a thing isn’t all that rare for them. They probably see unaffiliated members of our race as people trying to use the organizations with stronger bloodlines and greater resources to improve their own situations."

Celis joined the conversation. "If you really want to find out more about them, your only choice will be to join one of the two powers. Of course, the faction inside the Rosvelt Sect is bound to be many times more important than the sect in the northern section. On the other hand, it should be much easier to join the northern sect instead."

"There is going to be a lot of questions..." Thery pointed out. "They will want to know where we came from, why Sison, Haniala, and I have such pure bloodlines, how we got to where we are, and why they had never heard about us. We will have to be very careful with every answer."

"And what else can be done?" Arcis countered. "Unless you want to spend the next thousand years building your own new organization and identity to stand on par with them. Maybe you will be able to ask them for answers at that point."

Thery sighed, knowing Arcis and Celis were right. They couldn’t afford to waste decades, much less centuries, trying to gather information one person at a time. If they wanted to understand why the ascension of the Thousand-Script Race was locked to this part of the Celestial Plane, they needed access to people who probably had some clues about what was happening. And even so, it wasn’t guaranteed they knew anything.

"In that case, let’s make our way to the Thousand-Script Sect to the north. I highly doubt we would be able to get close to that Thousand-Script Race Faction in the central district anyway. At least not as easily."

Arcis and the others agreed, quickly leaving the area and beginning their journey toward the northern section.

Kentucky and Kachia flew to the central district and soon crossed the border between the west and central areas... just to stop in their tracks.

Just like the walls around the city, the walls around the central area where the Rosvelt Sect commanded were pretty meaningless. They were only a little over ten meters high, which any Aura God would be able to jump fairly easily. They were more like a demarcation than a real obstacle, marking the beginning of the central district rather than physically protecting it.

However, the moment they crossed to the other side, five cultivators, including two Demon Birds, immediately intercepted them, blocking their path.

"Halt!"

Kentucky and Kachia were forced to stop midair. By now, they already knew the emblem of the Rosvelt Sect, so they recognized the cultivators in front of them as members of it.

"Is something wrong, friends?" Kentucky asked, his expression showing genuine confusion.

The leader of that group narrowed his eyes. "What do you think? The aerial space of the Rosvelt Sect is closed to anyone who isn’t a member. Where the hell do you think you are going?"

"Eh?!" Kentucky was taken aback. "But the sect is still tens of kilometers away from here. We are nowhere near there yet."

The man looked at Kentucky as if he were looking at an idiot. "Who told you that? Everything in the central district is part of the sect’s aerial space. The sect itself might indeed be far ahead, but everything here is still considered part of it."

Kentucky and Kachia looked at each other. Neither of them had expected such a rule, especially since they had already seen plenty of cultivators flying freely throughout the rest of Dlaval City. Finally, Kentucky nodded at the man.

"Then we apologize, friend. We are leaving straight away."

The man nodded and didn’t pursue the issue. The truth was that Kentucky wasn’t the first, nor would he be the last to try to enter the central area through the air. Several such cases happened every day. This was a city with almost a hundred billion residents, after all, so there would always be someone unaware of the rules.

"Then get out and don’t forget it anymore."

Kachia took the chance to ask something. "Friend, what about the residences, estates, businesses, and such? I can see a lot of cultivators down there without the emblem of the Rosvelt Sect on their clothes."

"Are you truly that oblivious?" The man was already losing his patience. "Go to the fucking gates connecting to the central district and pay the fee. It will give you temporary access to the central area. However, you’d better not let me see you flying here again. Now, get out of my face. You’ve been warned."

Kentucky and Kachia didn’t go against the guy’s orders. They quickly turned around and flew out of the central district’s aerial space, putting some distance between themselves and the Rosvelt Sect’s territory before either of them said anything.

Of course, they continued to fly and soon found one of the many gates connected to the central district. The gate itself was far busier than the roads they had passed through earlier, with cultivators constantly entering and leaving while others waited to pay the required fee.

"Seems like we can only walk from here onwards," Kentucky commented.

Kachia didn’t mind in the slightest. "It is fine. We can have some fun down there as we make our way to the sect. Besides, it might be more interesting to see how ordinary cultivators live in the central district instead of simply flying over everything."

"Indeed," Kentucky smiled. "We are not in a hurry anyway. Let’s go."

The two descended toward the gate, preparing to enter the central district properly this time. Neither of them paid much attention to the fact that, from this point onward, they would be walking directly into the territory of one of the most powerful organizations in Woster.
