Death… And Me

Chapter 4411: Forget

Chapter 4411: Forget

"That was quite unexpected," Rean commented, still staring at the spot where Duze had vanished. "The guy just disappeared. I thought he would at least answer a few more questions for us..."

Roan ignored Rean’s complaint for the moment, his attention focused on the surroundings. The winged pink spheres that had accompanied Duze were nowhere to be seen anymore. Every last one of them had vanished alongside him as if they had never existed.

Even now, Roan had no idea what those things truly were. Spirits? Artificial lifeforms? Some entirely different race? The only thing he knew for certain was that one of them had entered each of their bodies before Duze left.

’Those things are monitoring us,’ Roan warned through their soul connection. ’From now on, we need to be extremely careful.’

Rean, however, shook his head almost immediately.

’That isn’t quite right.’

The others turned to him in surprise. Even Roan raised an eyebrow, waiting for an explanation.

Rean smiled before continuing through the soul link. ’Those little things aren’t really watching everything we do. Instead, they’re focused on one thing and one thing only: whether we spread the knowledge of the Godly Pressure Controlling Methods. They won’t pay attention to our cultivation, our conversations, or anything else unrelated. As long as we don’t violate that specific rule, they won’t interfere or report anything.’

Roan, Celis, and Kentucky exchanged glances.

’How do you know that?’ Celis asked.

’Because I can feel them,’ Rean answered without hesitation. ’They’re dormant inside our bodies. It’s a strange feeling... almost like sensing both a soul and a spirit at the same time. Their own energy isn’t particularly strong either. The only reason I noticed them is because of my affinity with the Light Element. They give off a very peculiar sensation. I doubt anyone who isn’t as closely connected to Light as I am would notice them at all. Even Roan can’t detect them.’

Roan closed his eyes briefly, checking his own body once again before opening them. ’I really can’t feel anything.’

Kentucky also shook his head. Although he possessed Light Element Affinity, it wasn’t remotely comparable to Rean’s perfect compatibility.

’Are you sure?’ he asked.

Rean nodded confidently. ’One hundred percent. I still don’t know exactly how they monitor whether someone spreads the Godly Pressure Controlling Methods, but I can guarantee they aren’t constantly spying on us. They’re dormant, almost inactive. They’ll only react when the rule they’re responsible for is violated.’

Roan trusted Rean’s judgment. For all of Rean’s carefree personality, he had never seen him make such a confident statement without being absolutely certain of it.

’Then that’s one less thing to worry about,’ Roan concluded. ’As long as we keep the Godly Pressure Control methods a secret, we shouldn’t have any problems with them.’

The others silently agreed.

*Fliiin...*

Their discussion came to an abrupt halt as a faint pink-and-golden glow suddenly emerged from Tobao’s body.

A second later, Arcis began shining with the exact same colors, and so did the others in the room.

Kentucky immediately noticed it. "Is this..."

Rean, Roan, and Celis all nodded almost simultaneously.

"Most likely..." Rean muttered.

The same phenomenon wasn’t happening only there. Throughout the entire Besgol Region—and every other region that had ever received any information related to Rean’s Godly Pressure Manipulation Arrays—the mysterious pink beings were carrying out their work.

Any region that knew anything about those arrays was affected.

It didn’t matter whether they were inside a city, cultivating in seclusion, exploring ruins, traveling aboard flying vessels, or fighting deep within the Godly Creatures’ Territories. Every one of them had fallen asleep.

Even so, what those little beings accomplished bordered on the unbelievable.

Despite countless cultivators losing consciousness simultaneously, casualties remained astonishingly low. Flying vessels gently slowed to a stop before landing safely. Experts driving somehow found themselves protected from crashing into anything. Battles against Godly Creatures abruptly ceased, with the creatures themselves retreating instead of taking advantage of their defenseless opponents.

It was almost as though an invisible force had rearranged countless tiny events across every affected region to minimize the damage.

Naturally, perfection was impossible. A handful of unfortunate individuals still died due to circumstances that couldn’t be prevented in time. Nevertheless, considering the unimaginable scale of what had happened, the number of casualties was so small that it would later be regarded as nothing short of miraculous.

The twins’ group, meanwhile, remained inside the private room without moving.

They already understood what had happened.

Tobao and Arcis would certainly remember everything related to the Konvey Ruins, Harksha’s exploration, and the discovery of countless Sacred Relic runes. However, anything involving Godly Pressure Manipulation, the Nexus Core AI, Nomo, Duze, and the entire negotiation would be completely erased.

That left one obvious problem.

Roan had personally called the two Law Gods over.

Sooner or later, they would ask why.

Whether they could come up with a convincing explanation... remained to be seen.

---

A full day passed before the strange phenomenon finally came to an end.

When it was over, every trace of Godly Pressure Manipulation Arrays had disappeared as though they had never existed.

Airplanes built by other organizations that had copied Rean’s arrays no longer contained them.

The recently developed Godly Pressure-Guided Teleport Arrays, which had already begun showing enormous promise, were stripped of every related blueprint and formation.

Records, notes, memories, research... everything vanished.

Only two exceptions remained.

The first was the twins’ group themselves.

The second was Rean’s personal airplane.

It was almost as if those tiny pink beings possessed the authority to rewrite reality itself, carefully erasing only the things they had been tasked with removing while leaving everything else untouched.

*Ugh...*

Tobao slowly opened his eyes.

For a brief moment, he simply stared blankly at the ceiling before suddenly remembering that he wasn’t supposed to be asleep.

His eyes snapped wide open as he jumped to his feet. "Wh-What happened?"

Only a few seconds later, Arcis also woke up, looking just as confused.

Nor were they the only ones.

Across every affected region, cultivators began waking almost simultaneously, each one wondering why an entire day had disappeared from their lives.

Inside the room, Tobao quickly noticed Harksha, the twins’ group, Senkiyu, Cantra, and Rico’The beginning to wake as well.

Of course, Rean and the others had never actually fallen asleep.

They simply acted as though they had.

Before either Law God could question anyone, their RCs erupted with incoming reports.

"What?!"

"The same phenomenon happened throughout the entire region?"

"Everyone fell asleep?"

"How long were we unconscious?"

Report after report flooded in from every direction, making it abundantly clear that the phenomenon hadn’t been isolated to this room.

An entire day had passed.

Cities were in confusion.

Guilds were scrambling to restore order.

Everywhere, people were asking the exact same question.

What happened?

Even so, Tobao and Arcis didn’t immediately leave. Instead, both turned toward Rean’s group. Something about the timing bothered them. They had been summoned here...

Then the entire region had fallen asleep. Whether it was coincidence or not, they had to find out.

Tobao frowned. "Why exactly did you call us here?"

"Uh..." Rean blinked several times before suddenly widening his eyes. "Oh! Right!"

He slapped his forehead. "Our exploration group found another set of ruins. We believe there are enough runes there to maintain the Sacred Relic for quite some time. Isn’t that right, Senior Harksha?"

Harksha hurriedly nodded. "Y-Yes! Rean is right. We had to abandon the exploration because of my injuries, as you can clearly see..." She glanced at her missing arm before continuing. "Still, the amount of Sacred Relic runes we discovered should easily surpass the gains of hundreds of ordinary exploration missions. That’s why we wanted to report it immediately to the higher-ups..."

She suddenly frowned.

"...Wait."

Everyone looked at her.

"Now that I think about it... why did we specifically request Seniors Tobao and Arcis to come?" She frowned even harder. "It doesn’t make sense. It feels like... something important is missing."

Tobao and Arcis exchanged another look.

They felt exactly the same way.

The discovery itself certainly justified an urgent report. But not one involving the only two Law Gods of the entire Besgol Region.

Rean scratched his head. "We also have that feeling."

Roan nodded. "Something definitely seems off."

Celis and Kentucky agreed.

Rean then turned toward the remaining members. "What about you?"

The Aura Gods all nodded almost together.

"It does feel strange..."

"We can’t explain why..."

"It feels like we’re forgetting something."

Tobao remained silent for a long moment before finally shaking his head. "Whatever happened, now isn’t the time to investigate it."

He looked toward Harksha. "Complete your exploration report and submit everything to the Godly Subjugation Guild. The information about those ruins is still extremely valuable."

Then he looked toward Arcis. "As for us..."

Arcis nodded before either of them said another word. "...we have to leave immediately."

"The region is in complete chaos," Tobao finished. "An entire day vanished from everyone’s lives. Right now, restoring order takes priority over everything else."

Without wasting another second, the two Law Gods hurriedly left.

Watching them disappear, Rean quietly let out a breath.

In the end...

Exactly as Duze had promised...

No one remembered anything.

No one except the four of them.
