Death… And Me

Chapter 4349: Not Bad

Chapter 4349: Not Bad

Going back to the moment when Tobao summoned Rean and Celis to the Sacred Relic, the two had just finished dealing with the puppets. Only that last puppet was left alive on purpose. Since the immediate threat had been dealt with, Tobao was preparing to return to the battlefield around Terno Dore, where the war against the Godly Creatures and Godly Horrors was reaching a critical stage. But ultimately, it was to make the expert who was controlling that puppet think everything was safe.

Before leaving, however, he tossed another Spatial Ring toward Rean.

"Here’s your share," Tobao said. "My people already finished separating everything."

With that, he didn’t waste another second. The situation outside was too urgent, and he immediately departed for the battlefield once more.

Rean caught the Spatial Ring and quickly checked its contents.

Sure enough, the item they had been waiting for was there.

The Third Eye of the Three-Eyed Raven.

The eye had been carefully preserved and remained completely intact. Considering how difficult it had been to obtain, Rean couldn’t help but feel relieved after finally seeing it with his own eyes.

After all, that was the exact item required by the Orb System’s quest.

*Pin!*

As expected, Sister Orb didn’t waste any time.

The familiar notification immediately echoed through the minds of Rean, Roan, Kentucky, and Celis. As it did, the Third Eye inside the Spatial Ring disappeared without a trace.

[The quest ’Extract the Three-Eyed Raven’s Third Eye’ has been completed.]

[Reward: Godly Sense energy consumption reduced by 50%.]

[Reward Two: 20 Orb Points.]

[Reward Three: New skill available for the Orb System.]

The four already expected that.

The first reward was undoubtedly useful. Although it didn’t directly increase their combat power, reducing Godly Sense consumption by half would significantly improve their ability to scout, investigate, and monitor large areas for extended periods of time. Now they could use it continuously for more than just ten or so seconds.

The second reward was equally welcome.

Twenty Orb Points.

Combined with the points they already possessed, their total now reached sixty-three.

Unfortunately, that still wasn’t enough.

The Yin Yang Sanctuary Level Two required one hundred and twenty Orb Points.

Even after receiving the reward, they remained far from the required amount.

However, before anyone could dwell on that issue, another notification appeared.

*Pin!*

A new quest had arrived.

[With the death of the Three-Eyed Raven, the Besgol Region’s survival chance has once again increased. However, danger is still imminent, and the Hosts’ actions could potentially determine its fate.]

[New Quest Available: Do one action that could change the fate of Besgol.]

[Additional Support: Select one skill from the Upgrade List that can be acquired for free.]

[Conditions: The skill must be used for Besgol’s benefit.]

[Reward: Hosts will be allowed to keep the upgrade if the conditions are met.]

[Penalty for Failure: If Besgol falls, the skill will be permanently deleted from the Upgrade List. Hosts won’t be able to acquire anymore.]

[Hosts can choose whether to acquire an upgrade for free or let this opportunity go.]

Silence followed.

Even for the twins’ group, this quest was unusually dangerous. The reward was obvious: a free upgrade.

An upgrade that would normally cost a significant amount of Orb Points. The penalty, however, was equally terrifying.

If they selected a skill and failed, that skill wouldn’t merely become unavailable temporarily. It would disappear forever. The Orb System would permanently remove it from the Upgrade List.

Naturally, there was only one skill they were truly considering. The Yin Yang Sanctuary. More specifically, the second level of the Yin Yang Sanctuary.

The skill had already proven its value many times before. The Sanctuary remained one of the most absurd abilities in their arsenal. Losing it forever would be an enormous blow. Any idiot could understand how valuable it was.

The problem was equally obvious.

Was it worth risking such a skill?

Of course, there was another option.

They could simply ignore the free ticket.

If they did that, there would be no risk whatsoever. Later, after earning enough Orb Points, they could purchase the second level normally for one hundred and twenty points.

The downside was equally clear.

They wouldn’t have the upgraded Sanctuary now.

And right now was precisely when Besgol was facing one of the greatest crises in its recent history.

The four fell into thought.

However, while Rean was still considering the pros and cons, Roan had already reached a conclusion.

"I’ll take it," he said through their soul connection.

His decision came so quickly that none of the others were surprised. Roan had always been the type to make difficult choices immediately once he found a path that made sense. "I know exactly where we can use it."

The others immediately focused on him.

Roan continued. "At the end of the day, those Godly Horrors are heading toward the Sacred Relic. Tobao knows that as well. That’s why he’s intentionally preparing the battlefield around the relic."

His eyes narrowed slightly. "If he wants the greatest chance of victory, he’ll lure them as close to the Sacred Relic as possible. The relic’s influence is one of Besgol’s greatest advantages. No competent commander would ignore that."

The others quickly understood what he was implying.

If the Godly Horrors were forced to fight near the relic, then the upgraded Yin Yang Sanctuary might be able to affect all of them simultaneously.

Roan immediately began making plans. "I’ll keep monitoring the network while Kentucky and I head toward the central area. Rean, you’ll need to leave the relic with Celis at some point."

Rean nodded. "What for?"

"A concealing array." Roan’s answer came instantly. "It doesn’t need to be anything extraordinary. We only need something capable of hiding our presence slightly. As long as nobody notices where we’re hiding, it’ll be enough."

With the plan established, the group immediately moved into action.

Several hours before the Godly Horrors arrived, Roan and Kentucky were already near the Sacred Relic. Normally, you wouldn’t be able to simply go there. However, Roan had Tobao on his side, so the experts watching the area let him and Kentucky go.

Meanwhile, Rean and Celis left the relic when the opportunity presented itself and joined them.

From there, Roan began carefully studying the situation.

He observed the battlefield layouts.

He examined the available terrain.

He tracked the movements of the Godly Horrors.

Roan didn’t know where the reinforcements would come from, though. After all, Tobao was keeping that part a secret. Tobao hadn’t said anything at all, actually. It was Roan’s conclusion that reinforcements from other regions would be used, since Roan would have done that too.

In any case, every piece of information was analyzed.

Gradually, a conclusion formed. There was one specific area where everything pointed toward a future clash. In Roan’s opinion, it represented the ideal battlefield.

It was close enough to the Sacred Relic for its influence to remain significant. At the same time, it was far enough away that Tobao could still intercept the Godly Horrors before they reached their ultimate objective.

Most importantly, the terrain naturally encouraged both sides to converge there. After reaching that conclusion, Roan instructed Rean where to construct the concealing array.

Not surprisingly, the location where the Law Gods’ flying vessel eventually landed matched his prediction almost perfectly.

The battlefield had practically chosen itself.

Any alternative location would require the Godly Horrors to change their path significantly, which was highly unlikely.

Even so, there remained a major problem: Predicting the general area was one thing. Predicting the exact point where the battle would erupt was another matter entirely.

Roan knew the confrontation would happen around this place. The issue was determining precisely where.

And that was where the free upgrade finally entered the equation.

If the Yin Yang Sanctuary remained at its original range of fifty meters, there was a considerable chance that some of the Godly Horrors would remain outside its area of effect.

That would dramatically reduce its usefulness.

Two hundred meters, however, was an entirely different matter.

With a radius four times larger, the total area covered by the Sanctuary increased tremendously. The margin for error became much larger.

Once the skill was acquired, Roan felt genuinely confident that the plan could work.

In fact, he couldn’t help but wonder if the Orb System had specifically presented that opportunity because it knew the upcoming situation.

The timing was simply too perfect. Of course, the system could provide opportunities. Actually taking advantage of them was another matter.

Fortunately, Roan was Roan. His ability to analyze battlefields and predict enemy movements had always been among the best.

When the decisive moment finally arrived, he successfully identified the perfect location and activated the Sanctuary at exactly the right time.

The result spoke for itself. Every Godly Horror ended up inside the Sanctuary’s area of effect. Well, kinda. One of them almost left the 200-meter range, stopping shot of 10 meters before coming out, not that it mattered, of course. The sanctuary’s Effect was exactly the same over its entire extent. Even if the Godly Horror was just a meter away from leaving the Sanctuary, it would still feel its entire effect.

The suppression from the Sacred Relic, combined with the Yin Yang Sanctuary’s influence, created the opening that ultimately allowed Besgol’s defenders to reverse the situation.

And because of that success, the twins had gained the second level of the Yin Yang Sanctuary without spending a single Orb Point.

---

A few days later, another notification suddenly spread throughout the Besgol Region. It came simultaneously from both Tobao and Arcis. The message was brief, yet it immediately attracted everyone’s attention.

-All remnants of the Godly Creatures have been eliminated. The battle is now officially over.-

Relief spread across countless cities and settlements. The war had finally ended, and Besgol had survived once again.

Naturally, the Orb System noticed as well.

*Pin!*

A familiar notification appeared before the twins’ group.

[Congratulations, Hosts. Your actions met the requirements and helped save the Besgol Region.]

[Reward: The skill ’Yin Yang Sanctuary Level Two’ has now been integrated permanently. It can now be used for any other actions again.]

The four couldn’t help but smile.

The gamble had paid off.

Not only had they managed to keep the skill, but they had also obtained an upgrade worth 120 Orb Points entirely for free.

Considering how difficult Orb Points were to obtain, the reward was enormous.

Rean leaned back and let out a satisfied sigh. "Not bad, not bad at all..."
