"Get closer! Junior Brother Ma, you guys move in too!"
Yu Zhenyang fell back from the front, signaling for his two junior brothers to tighten their formation.
"Eldest Senior Brother, isn’t this a bit too tight?"
Ma Wenbo hesitated. After all, they were in a Relic, and they had to be on guard against unknown Restrictions and traps.
"Third Junior Brother, watch out!"
Yu Zhenyang cried out a warning. He had seen a bloody dog head suddenly emerge from the mist behind Cao Mingjie.
"CRACK!"
The earthen-yellow ring of light instantly let out a crisp crack before shattering completely.
But thankfully, it bought them a moment. Coupled with Yu Zhenyang’s warning, Cao Mingjie managed to raise his Spirit Shield in front of him just in time.
"THUD!"
The dog’s head slammed into the Shield, knocking both Cao Mingjie and his Shield back three staggering steps.
The beast wasn’t unscathed, though; it froze in place for a second, stunned.

Ma Wenbo, being the closest, seized the opportunity to draw his sword and counterattack. With a flick of his blade, a foot-long beam of Sword Light descended like a dragonfly skimming the water’s surface.

The dazed dog head didn’t even try to dodge. It simply stood its ground, and its fur alone was enough to block the Sword Light.
"What!"
Ma Wenbo’s eyes went wide as he stared in disbelief at the massive dog head.

"These beasts intentionally waited for us to go deep before launching their attack."
They were already deep inside when that first Demon Beast had impatiently attacked; they never imagined so many more were still lying in ambush.
"We should push forward and get out of this area. An entire Relic can’t possibly be made of nothing but narrow paths."
Ma Wenbo’s eyes glinted. "If we can just find a side hall, or even a wide-open space, we can use an Array to set up a defense."
"Ordinary Magic Power isn’t enough. We need to set up a Killing Array to deal with a siege."
They had brought a Portable Array Plate, but it had to be set up in strict accordance with an Array Map, which was impossible on this narrow path.
Both of them turned to Yu Zhenyang, waiting for his decision.

Yu Zhenyang knew perfectly well that time was precious; he had to decide on a course of action for the team immediately.
