At Yuan’s command, they all left the city.
"I’ll lead the way," Ironwoman said, taking the lead once they left the city walls.
Yuan quietly followed behind. Meanwhile, the other three soldiers followed behind him, staying a safe distance from him.
"Are they also part of the Supreme General’s Midnight Squad? They wear the same outfit, but I didn’t see them during the assembly." Yuan asked Ironwoman.
"They are. The Midnight Squad has several departments, each with their own specialty. This one specializes in surveillance, I guess," she responded.
"You guess?"
"I don’t know everything, alright? Especially when it comes to the Midnight Squad."
"Then do you know how long it’ll take us to reach our destination?"
"About a month and a half."
"I’ll also be clearing out any Void Specters we encounter on the way," he said.
"That would slow us down significantly."
"Says who? I’ll start doing it once we reach the Purple Zone, and it won’t slow us down one bit."
Some time later, they entered the Purple Zone, and Yuan immediately began clearing out every Void Specter in their path. Of course, he did so without stopping even for a split second, letting the group keep moving forward without slowing down.
"Are you guys recording me?" Yuan asked the Midnight Squad out of curiosity.
"We are."
They admitted without hesitation.
"Is that so?" Yuan muttered, not surprised in the slightest.
After all, he had already been warned beforehand that they’d observe him in order to learn everything about him.
Time passed swiftly, and a little over a month later, Yuan and the others arrived at their destination.
"So this is the Level 2 Black Zone, huh?" Yuan muttered as they stopped at its border.
The atmosphere was drastically different from that of an ordinary Black Zone. Merely standing near it was enough to make one’s skin crawl, and the suffocating pressure in the air gave the chilling sensation of standing at death’s door.
Moreover, while the Black Zone was crawling with Void Specters, Yuan was unable to see a single one in the Level 2 Black Zone from where he was standing.
"We’re here," Ironwoman said as she turned to Yuan.
"You’ll be taking the lead from this point onward. And don’t expect any of us—including me—to come to your aid if you find yourself in danger. We may be too busy trying to ensure our own survival."
Yuan nodded with a calm smile.
"I’d actually prefer it if you didn’t risk your lives for me because it’d be a pointless sacrifice."
After saying that, Yuan entered the Level 2 Black Zone.
The Midnight Squad and Ironwoman followed behind, keeping enough distance to avoid getting caught up in anything Yuan encountered while remaining close enough to observe him clearly.
Of course, not everyone was focused on observing Yuan. Aside from Yuan himself, the group consisted of four people, only two of whom were tasked with monitoring him. The other two were responsible for keeping watch over their surroundings and protecting the observers, with Ironwoman taking on one of those roles.
Upon entering the area, Yuan immediately headed in the direction with the strongest fluctuations, which indicated the presence of Void Specters.
A few days later, Yuan finally encountered his first Void Specter. However, its appearance was unlike that of any Void Specter he had encountered before. Even so, it wasn’t entirely unfamiliar to him.
’That looks like... a magical beast?’ Yuan thought to himself.
Although its form was rough and distorted, Yuan could still make out the shape of a four-legged magical beast.
While Yuan observed it, the Void Specter suddenly noticed him and attacked without warning. In the very next instant, it condensed a dozen black bullets from its energy and fired them straight at him.
"Oh?"
Yuan calmly evaded the surprise attack, immediately noticing that its attack pattern was different from that of ordinary Void Specters, which typically attacked by extending parts of their bodies.
"So they can shoot their energy now, huh? That power was no joke, too."
Meanwhile, after seeing its initial attack missed, the Void Specter swiftly struck again. This time, it attacked with over a hundred black bullets at once.
Yuan used Void Manipulation to dodge the bullets before attacking the Void Specter with a black bullet of his own.
He only created a single bullet, but it had enough Eternal Essence to completely defeat an Elite Void Specter in the Black Zone in one hit.
Whoosh!
The black bullet tore through the air and struck the four-legged Void Specter squarely in the body. However, not only did it remain standing, but it also shrugged off the attack as though it were nothing more than a mosquito bite.
"Well then..." Yuan muttered with a raised eyebrow.
Although Yuan hadn’t expected to defeat the Void Specter with a single attack, he also hadn’t expected it to emerge completely unscathed. Its durability far exceeded his expectations.
The observers wondered whether it was still too early for Yuan to visit the Level 2 Black Zone and whether they should fall back for now.
However, just as those thoughts crossed their minds, the atmosphere around Yuan suddenly shifted, making him seem like an entirely different person.
Ironwoman’s eyes widened. Even she had never seen him like this before.
"Now that I no longer have to hide my strength..."
A cold light flickered in Yuan’s eyes as he extended a hand toward the Void Specter and made a grasping motion.
The next moment, three trillion years’ worth of Eternal Essence descended upon the creature from every direction, compressing its entire body into a small sphere that closely resembled the black bullets it had used to attack Yuan.
The observers’ jaws dropped at Yuan’s sudden display of overwhelming power. More shockingly, none of them could even comprehend what kind of power he had just used.
"No way..." Ironwoman muttered in a daze.
Even she would need some time to defeat a Void Specter of that level. Yet, Yuan killed it with a single move.
’General Mei said that he’d used the system to treat some anomalies in his body, which caused him to be hospitalized... Is this power the result of that?’ she wondered inwardly.
