Chapter 2599: Minigun

Chapter 2599: Minigun

After receiving his weapon, Yuan returned to his living quarters.

"Are you not even going to try it out before bringing it with you on the mission?" Sergeant Bing questioned him.

"No need," he said.

"Is that so..."

"Then we’ll see you in two days. If you need to go anywhere, you know where to find us."

Sergeant Bing and Sergeant Quang left shortly after, returning to their own living quarters that were only a few steps away from Yuan’s residence.

Yuan remained at home the entire time, and in the blink of an eye, it was time for the mission.

At the eastern gates, four soldiers were standing around, seemingly waiting for someone.

"What are we waiting for?"

"I just learned of this last night, but we’ll have an extra for this mission." The Squad Leader explained.

"Really? Who?"

"I wasn’t given any details except that it’s some Corporal."

"Huh? A Corporal? For cleanup duty? It must be punishment."

"Even if it’s punishment, it seems a bit harsh."

"A punishment for them or us? Since it’s a Corporal, they won’t have a weapon, which will make cleanup a lot more difficult."

"We can just make them carry our luggage or something," one of them suggested.

A few moments later, they noticed three figures approaching them.

"Hm? Sergeant Bing? Sergeant Quang? Are you also going out for a mission today?"

The soldiers recognized them and asked.

"Yes, we’ll be joining you on your cleanup mission."

"What?"

The soldiers exchanged puzzled glances with each other.

"W-Wait a second... I was told that it would only be a single individual, and that they were a Corporal," said the Squad Leader.

"That would be me," Yuan finally spoke up. "They decided to join me. That won’t be a problem, right?"

The soldiers raised their eyebrows when they saw Yuan and the large weapon he was carrying.

"Is that... a minigun?" one of them asked, sounding incredulous.

"Sure is."

"I won’t question why a Corporal has a weapon, but do you plan on going outside with that?"

"Of course. Why else would I bring it? For emotional support?" Yuan responded sarcastically.

"..."

The group fell silent, and they turned to look at Sergeant Bing and Sergeant Quang with frowns.

"Ahem..." Sergeant Bing awkwardly cleared her throat before speaking, "You guys don’t need to concern yourself with him. We’re here for that reason."

A moment later, the squad leader said, "Since everyone’s here, let’s head out."

Shortly afterward, they teleported to the city walls and departed from there.

Just like on Yuan’s first mission, they encountered barely any Void Specters during the first several hours. However, as they ventured farther from the city walls, the number of Void Specters gradually increased.

When there were only a few Void Specters, the original group for the mission did all of the work while Yuan and his group quietly followed behind.

Of course, it wasn’t as if Yuan did absolutely nothing, as he had to absorb all of the Eternal Essence left behind by the Void Specters.

The others didn’t blame Yuan for standing back, either. As ridiculous as Yuan’s weapon was in their eyes, they understood that its outrageous energy consumption prevented him from using it recklessly.

"So, when are you actually going to use that thing?" Sergeant Bing eventually asked Yuan.

"I followed you out here because I wanted to see how quickly you regret picking it as your weapon."

Yuan chuckled and calmly replied, "Why didn’t you say so earlier?"

After the original group finished cleaning up the Void Specters, Yuan said to them, "You guys can sit back from this point forward. I’ll take care of things from here on out."

"What are you talking about?" They muttered, looking confused.

Yuan held his minigun before his chest and said, "I’ve been itching to use this."

"..."

After a moment of silence, their squad leader said, "Do as you please."

None of them objected, as they had no reason to stop Yuan, after all.

Some time later, when they encountered more Void Specters, the squad leader gestured at them while looking directly at Yuan.

"All yours," he said.

Yuan did not respond and quietly raised his weapon, pointing its muzzles in the direction of the oblivious Void Specters.

He gathered his Limitless and poured it into the minigun. Then, without warning, started shooting a barrage of bullets at the Void Specters.

Whoosh!

The bullets tore through the air, riddling the group of twenty or so Void Specters with dozens of holes and annihilating them in the blink of an eye.

Despite the spectacular display, none of the soldiers reacted. They remained completely nonchalant, as though they had witnessed the same scene countless times before.

Shortly afterward, they continued onward, and Yuan dealt with every Void Specter that appeared along the way.

Although everything seemed normal at first, and none of the soldiers reacted to Yuan’s performance, they eventually began to sense something was off.

"Hey... how long has it been since he took our place?"

"About twelve hours. Why?"

"Don’t you find it odd...?"

"What do you mean?"

"He’s using a minigun, you know? A weapon notorious for exhausting its user within a few hours, even when fired sparingly. Yet he’s been shooting nonstop for twelve hours!"

"!!!"

"Holy shit! You’re right! How the hell is he still able to shoot that thing?! That’s some insane stamina!"

The others reacted with shock after realizing this anomaly.

"It’s not just his stamina." Sergeant Quang suddenly said. "If you didn’t notice, it only takes him four to five bullets at most to defeat a Void Specter, which typically takes over a dozen."

The soldiers swallowed nervously when they realized what Sergeant Quang was trying to say.

Not only was Yuan not exhausted after using the minigun for so long without a break, but he was even using more power than normal!

"Who the hell is he?"

The squad leader asked.

"Corporal Yuan, a prodigy who joined the military not even a month ago," said Sergeant Bing.

"Excuse me?!"

The soldiers exclaimed in shock and disbelief.
