Chapter 750 - 634: Dividing the Spoils and Heading to the Strange Plane (2)
Chapter 750: Chapter 634: Dividing the Spoils and Heading to the Strange Plane (2)
A shadow coalesced from the light of the rift, projecting the figure of Wizard Oston.
After the projection of this Eighth Level Grand Mage appeared, his calm azure eyes swept across everyone in the square.
His gaze lingered for a moment where the two containers originally floated, and he nodded slightly.
"Good efficiency."
His voice was not loud, but each word carried a weight that made people instinctively straighten up.
"I’ll open the entrance for the mission rewards now." Oston raised his hand, and the hundred-meter-tall spatial rift became more stable under his gesture, the edge’s dim blue light transforming into a steady silver-white, "Across the rift is that enigmatic plane. I’ve already invaded the interior, so once you cross, you’ll find yourselves directly in that world."
The previously pitch-black spatial rift suddenly turned transparent, revealing the scene of another world on the other side.
Wizard Oston then added: "I have a few requirements."
The wizards listened quietly.
"First, I will not forcibly restrict your energy levels; you can cast spells freely in that plane. However, I hope that when capturing the mysterious entities, you will try to limit your power. Depending on the circumstances, solve problems on a small scale, avoid causing large-scale damage. The environment of that plane is fragile and cannot withstand the full output of a High Tier Wizard."
"Secondly, if possible, I hope you can disguise your identities and avoid being discovered by the indigenous people of this plane. The conditions for the creation of mysterious entities are still not entirely clear as of now. To ensure this plane continuously births mysterious beings, it’s best not to disrupt the structure of the plane, nor the social structure of its indigenous people."
"Mysterious entities are indeed rare research resources." The warlock in a deep blue robe nodded, "We understand. To turn them into ’renewable resources,’ maintaining the plane’s social structure and fundamental state is necessary."
The other wizards nodded in agreement.
This isn’t about noble ethics; it’s purely a consideration of interests.
A plane that can continuously produce mysterious entities is far more valuable than one that can’t once destroyed. Any wizard can figure that out.
"Good." Oston’s projection nodded, "Then let me give you all a hint."
His expression became a bit more serious.
"There’s a mysterious entity in this plane I call ’Night.’"
"Night?" the young witch frowned.
"Just the literal meaning of night." Oston said, "At night, never let yourself be in a lightless state. Otherwise, it will be quite dangerous."
"How dangerous?" asked the Life System Wizard.
"For you, this Night Mysterious isn’t exactly dangerous." Oston’s tone was very calm, "But it has a troublesome trait... it basically connects the entire plane. If you resist too fiercely, your power will be transmitted through its ’body’ into the plane’s law structure, possibly causing irreversible damage."
"The way to avoid this is simple: just ensure you’re in a lighted state even during the night." Oston shrugged, "It’s that simple. No need to fight, no need to seal it, just light a lamp. I’m just warning you because if you didn’t know this trait and extinguished it upon arrival, then the ecosystem of this plane would be ruined."
"Understood."
The wizards present nodded, indicating they understood.
"As for the other mysterious entities." Oston’s projection began to turn transparent, "Discovering and capturing them will depend on your own abilities. Good luck."
The projection dissipated.
The hundred-meter-high spatial rift hovered steadily above the square, and on the other side was a wasteland engulfed in nightfall.
The young witch was the first to move.
She approached the rift, and before crossing, raised her hand to condense a fist-sized energy light ball in her palm.
The light ball emitted a soft white light, enveloping her entire figure in a halo.
Then she crossed over.
Her silhouette vanished on the other side of the rift.
Other wizards followed suit, with each one lighting a source of light before crossing.
Some used light balls, others glowing runes, and some flaming magical artifacts.
No one felt inconvenienced; such a simple gesture could protect the ecosystem of the entire plane, a calculation that is worthwhile by any measure.
Jeming was the last to go.
He approached the rift, gazing at the dark wasteland beyond, ready to step through.
But his foot stopped midway.
It wasn’t that he didn’t want to go, but he couldn’t.
As soon as Jeming’s body touched the rift, he felt an intense sense of rejection.
It was as if trying to fit an elephant into a refrigerator.
Jeming paused, then understood the reason.
Because his true form is a thousand-meter-tall Dharma Form.
Though he appears just like a regular person now, it’s merely an illusion.
A facade conveyed by compression, folding, and disguise of the true form.
His essence remains that enormous dark golden entity, a thousand meters tall.
The hundred-meter-long, dozens-meter-wide spatial rift is more than sufficient for a normal human body or a Sixth Level Wizard who hasn’t fully unfolded their Law Solidification Domain.
But to a thousand-meter-tall Dharma Form, it is too narrow.
Jeming stood before the rift, his expression somewhat awkward.
At that moment, he felt a gaze fall upon him.
The silver-white light at the edge of the rift trembled slightly and then stabilized again.
But Jeming keenly noted that the "texture" of that light had changed—it was previously like an automatically set-up program with predetermined parameters.
Now, it seemed alive, as if something had been infused into it.
Oston’s projection reappeared.
But this time, it was different from before.
Its eyes were no longer the blue with no focus but became vibrant and profound.
Evidently, having sensed the unexpected situation here, Wizard Oston has turned his attention.
"Hmm?"
Oston’s gaze landed on Jeming, his azure eyes narrowing slightly.
With that one look, Jeming felt his disguise had been seen through.
"Interesting." Oston whispered softly.
His projection circled Jeming once, looking him up and down, and then stopped right in front of him.
"Your research is quite intriguing, little fellow. Although you’re currently still a Fifth Level Wizard, and haven’t completed Law Solidification, yet..." Oston tilted his head slightly, "Your current state of existence already bears some resemblance to a Sixth Level Wizard’s Law Solidification Domain."
"It’s just insignificant research." Jeming bowed respectfully.
"Insignificant?" Oston repeated the word, a slight smile at the corner of his mouth, "Little one, excessive humility equates to arrogance."
Jeming was somewhat embarrassed by this remark, as he couldn’t very well admit that it was actually power from another system.
"Ah well, let me see... Your ’existence’ has somehow reached over a thousand meters, no wonder you can’t pass." Oston chuckled; the smile full of interest in new things, "I designed this rift for the standard size of a Sixth Level Wizard’s ’existence’, too small for you."
He raised his hand and casually waved.
The hundred-meter-high spatial rift expanded dramatically at his gesture, like a massive door being pushed open.
The rift’s edge extended from one hundred meters to over a thousand meters and quickly stabilized again.
The wasteland on the other side of the rift revealed a broader view under this expanded rift; under the dark sky, one could see weak flames flickering in the distance.
Oston’s projection turned around, the vibrant eyes again gazing at Jeming.
"Little one, do well." he said, "I have high hopes for you."
Then the projection dispersed.
Jeming stood before the expanded rift, silent for a moment, then stepped through.
His silhouette disappeared amidst the silver-white light.
(A bit busy today, just this Chapter.)
