Chapter 620 - 527: Intelligence on Ripples and Trump Cards

Chapter 620: Chapter 527: Intelligence on Ripples and Trump Cards

Illusion and Dark Crow were silent for a moment, then shifted the topic.

"By the way, you just mentioned encountering a Seventh Level Wizard? What’s going on?" Illusion’s tone returned to its usual calm, "Weren’t the Seventh Level Wizards on the other side always being monitored by us?"

Dark Crow sighed, and the black fluid at his severed limb drooped dispiritedly.

"What I encountered are those who weren’t being monitored."

Illusion’s gaze suddenly sharpened.

"You mean... those who disappeared since the war began and have been setting up back-end tactics?" His speech quickened, "Wait, I remember your defense zone was in the rear, wasn’t it? Could it be..."

Dark Crow nodded, then shook his head.

"Indeed, it’s those people," he said, "But I was lucky, only encountered one person. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have made it back alive."

"One person..."

Illusion lowered his gaze, his index finger tapped unconsciously on his cuff.

A moment later, he lifted his gaze, a look of realization flashed in his dark red eyes:

"I see."

Dark Crow grinned :

"Others who heard this intel reached the same conclusion as you." He paused, "Actually, it’s not hard to guess. The Nolun Workshop techniques that can be used as back-end tactics are just a few, now they are spreading their personnel, it’s clear what they want to set up."

Illusion nodded:

"Then it seems our layout is exposed as well."

According to the intel, at least two of the missing Seventh Level Wizards from Nolun Workshop specialized in Soul Science.

Having Soul System Wizards of that level wandering in the enemy’s rear, claiming they couldn’t find the locations where we’ve set up back-end tactics is simply self-deception.

Dark Crow shrugged, his incomplete shoulder causing the black fluid to wriggle.

"Exposed or not, it’s exposed. Quantity is still a bit lacking, but if we need to pull it out now, it’s enough." His tone was relaxed, carrying a veteran’s calmness, "These back-end tactics, revealing them early doesn’t mean they’re useless."

Illusion nodded, not continuing the topic.

He glanced at Dark Crow’s slowly regenerating severed limb, and briefly said "Take care to heal," then turned and walked out of the treatment room.

He had to visit the command room.

At the least, he needed to enter the spiritual power fluctuation characteristics of Jeming analyzed during the battle into the camp’s enemy intelligence database.

Ensure each of our Fifth Level Wizards out there gets a copy.

Let them... avoid that monster as much as possible.

Watching Illusion’s figure disappear behind the automatic door, Dark Crow lay back into the treatment cabin.

Until the cabin door closed, the long-maintained silence in the treatment room was finally broken by a repressed gasp.

The other Fifth Level Wizards in the treatment room exchanged glances, seeing a flash of shock in each other’s eyes.

The exchange between Illusion and Dark Crow revealed a lot of intel, the latter was high-level matters, unrelated to them.

But the former intel...

The first to speak was a Fifth Level Wizard by the door.

He lay in a semi-enclosed treatment cabin, half of his body covered with regenerative gel, but the exposed eye was wide open like a copper bell.

"Did I hear that right..." His voice was hoarse, carrying a sense of disbelief as if struck by lightning, "Lord Illusion... was put into the nutrient cabin by a Fifth Level Wizard?"

The head wrapped in bandages in a nearby cabin popped out, voice urgent:

"He said ’defeated’. Defeated! Not ’escaped from his hands’, not ’maneuvered around’! It’s a direct defeat!"

"That Fifth Level... is the one who took out the Hand of Obliteration?"

"Who else could it be!"

"My God..."

Similar whispers spread quickly in the treatment room like a plague.

Those Fifth Level wounded who originally dared not speak due to fear of the presence of High Tier Wizards, couldn’t hold back their shock anymore, exchanging various glances with familiar comrades.

Those glances contained fear, disbelief, and an indescribable complexity.

They were Fifth Level Wizards.

They knew too well what a Sixth Level Title Wizard meant.

It was someone they had to look up to, fear, hope they wouldn’t encounter in battle.

And now, they were told that a fellow Fifth Level Wizard had consecutively defeated two such entities.

Not maneuvering, not escaping.

But defeating.

It was like a bomb dropped in a still pool, creating massive ripples.

"Nolun Workshop over there... really has such a monster..."

Someone said quietly.

No one refuted.

Because that was the most accurate description — monster.

Someone couldn’t help but pull out their Magic Network Terminal, eagerly sharing the news with their companion.

Thus, this ripple quickly spread out.

From the infirmary to the camp corridor.

From the Fifth Level wounded to the colleagues coming to visit.

From the Logistics Wizard responsible for recording battle damage to the combat personnel about to rotate to the frontline.

The news about "a Fifth Level Wizard from Nolun Workshop consecutively defeating two of our titled Sixth Level Wizards" swept through the group of Low Tier Wizards in the Tower of Annihilation like a silent gale.

Accompanied by an indescribable, subtle change in mindset.

A mix of fear, vigilance, and a certain emotion they themselves were reluctant to admit—admiration.

And at this moment, at the center of the storm, the young man called "monster."

Was speeding away from the battlefield in another void, alongside his companion, swiftly heading toward the direction of the camp.

...

...

Jeming and Blake had just passed through the defense barrier on the camp perimeter when their personal terminals simultaneously vibrated.

Jeming glanced down; it was a communication request from Viola.

"You go rest first," he briefly said to Blake.

The latter nodded knowingly, quickly merging into the shadows of the camp, stealthily heading toward the exclusive resting area for Soul System Wizards.

Meanwhile, Jeming changed direction, quickly traversed the main road of the camp, heading straight for the central command room.

Outside the command room, that familiar silvery-gray figure was already waiting at the door.

Viola leaned against the metal post by the door, her arms crossed, her silvery-gray eyes slightly narrowing upon seeing Jeming, with a faintly amused curve at the corner of her mouth.

Her gaze swept up and down, then down and up again at Jeming several times, as if appraising some rare object.

"Tsk." She finally uttered a sound of ambiguous meaning, "You’re back alive, junior."

Jeming approached, long immune to her sarcastic greetings, simply nodded: "Lucky."

"Luck?" Viola raised an eyebrow, "You repelled another Sixth Level Wizard, calling that luck?"

Jeming paused his steps and looked at her.

Viola waved her hand: "Don’t look at me like that. The battle intelligence between you two was submitted after Blake returned. Though the specific process wasn’t included, the record ’encountered a Sixth Level Wizard, successfully retreated’ was surprising enough to me."

Jeming didn’t dwell on this topic, instead asked: "You mentioned an emergency situation?"

"Say it inside." Viola turned, pushed open the side door of the command room, motioned for Jeming to follow, "Though they’re still having a meeting, you’ll have to wait a bit."

The two stopped in the hallway outside the side door. Viola leaned against the wall, Jeming stood opposite her.

"I’ll tell you some heavy news." Viola lowered her voice, but couldn’t suppress the excitement in her tone, "We’ve found the opponent’s trump card..."

Jeming’s pupils shrank: "Found it? Chaos Secret Sect and Tower of Annihilation? Both found?"

"Yes, both were found." Viola nodded, "During the time you were out for your mission, the Seventh Level Soul System Wizards from the workshop were deployed. They conducted comprehensive deductions based on the intelligence collected by all the reconnaissance teams at the frontline, excluded all low-probability areas, and then personally infiltrated, verifying one by one those coordinates with the highest potential."

"And then... found them?"

"And then, they found them." Viola shrugged, "Precision-guided, struck right at the mark. I must say, the old folks of the Soul System are indeed professionals when it comes to tracking things down."

A turbulent surge of indescribable excitement rose within Jeming.

What does this mean?

Means they can destroy the enemy’s war trump card ahead of time, means Nolun Workshop may hold a decisive advantage in this war!

"That’s great!" he blurted out, "Since we found it, why not destroy it immediately?"

But Viola’s expression wasn’t as joyful as he imagined.

She shook her head, a trace of helplessness flashing in her silvery-gray eyes:

"Here’s the issue—we found it, but can’t prevent it."

Jeming froze.

"What do you mean?" he frowned, "Found the opponent’s trump card, yet cannot prevent it? Is it insufficient manpower, or too tight defense?"

"Neither." Viola sighed, "You’ll understand once you see the intelligence soon. I could explain now, but seeing it for yourself will be clearer."

Jeming wanted to ask further, but Viola raised her hand to stop him, her gaze shifted to the tightly closed metal door at the end of the hallway.

"The meeting is about to end."

Sure enough, before long, the metal door of the command room opened from the inside.

Seventh Level Wizards exited in sequence.

Their expressions varied, some frowning, some with solemn faces, others appeared thoughtful.

Every person who passed by Jeming couldn’t help but cast him a glance—filled with scrutiny, curiosity, and an inexplicable complexity.

Jeming felt slightly uneasy under their gaze but maintained calm on the surface.

Until finally, the gray figure of Professor Clark appeared at the door.

His gaze passed over Viola, directly landing on Jeming. In his eyes that seemed as calm as an ancient well, something faintly flickered.

"Come in." Clark said concisely, stepping aside to make way.

Viola gave Jeming a "let’s go" look, and the two entered the command room one after the other.
