Commanding Wind and Cloud

Chapter 140

Chapter 140: The Raid at Night

“I heard that my opponent for the duel tomorrow is also a Demon Fighter, is that right?” Cage placed his feet on the table causally as he asked his timid Ninth Uncle Caeller, “What is his name? What is his background? How old is he? When did he become a Demon Fighter?”

“His name is Qian Jin, and he doesn’t have any background. He is nineteen years old now, and he became a Demon Fighter around…”

“Qian Jin?” Cage suddenly stood up from his sitting position where he was leaning backward. He leaned forward with his hands on the table as he asked Caeller with a gloomy look and breath-taking pressure, “The student from Oakland’s Warrior and Mage Academy? The one that disappeared for two years?”

Caeller nodded subconsciously. He was very curious, “I’ve never mentioned Qian Jin’s name to him before, but why did his mood change so much after hearing this name?” He thought to himself.

“Good, great! This is great! I didn’t expect my opponent to be him… Qian Jin… Qian Jin!” Cage laughed maliciously as he smashed one of his fists on the table. The table jumped into the air with the counter-impulse coming from the ground, and a fist-sized hole appeared on the surface of the table.

Caeller felt like something was wrong. He asked quietly, “You know him?”

“Of course! I know him well.” Cage sat back down on his chair and said as he leaned on the back of the chair again, “I saw him once before in the academy. I was planning to wait until I go to Oakland’s Warrior and Mage Academy and cripple him. He dared to push me? Great! I will take the opportunity tomorrow and kill him.”

“Cage…” Caeller said quietly, “I have to tell you one thing; please don’t get mad. Actually, Glan left to find that Qian Jin. He said that he was going to make Qian Jin use up all his warrior power before the duel with you tomorrow. He even wanted to severely injure Qian Jin if he could so you could win clean tomorrow.”

“There is no need.” Cage raised his eyebrows and waved his hands as he said, “Whatever, it’s not going to change the result of the duel tomorrow. Glan can finally find a Demon Warrior weaker than him, so let him play with Qian Jin a little. But remember to tell him not to mess around with Fabreidis and the Mayor. If he wants to die, he can do so, but don’t let him drag our Cae Family into it.”

“Of course. The duel for Young Master Cage is tomorrow; you can treat it as a nice warm up battle before the Screening Selection. In terms of that Mage Student, I will make sure that she will disappear in the mage duel tomorrow as well.”

The back door to the room as pushed opened again, and Caeller saw mage Gleen Pan who was already forty two years old walk into the room. Gleen Pan was in a black mage robe and had a magic wand with an egg-sized red gem embedded on the top.

Cage’s arrogant expression toned down a little and the way that he leaned back on the back of the chair became a bit more respectful as well. He looked at the mage Gleen Pan who was slowly sitting down and lightly nodded as he said, “Mr. Gleen Pan, you finished meditating this early today?”

“Yeah.” Gleen Pan rubbed the crystal clear red gem on the tip of his magic wand and said, “I’m a little bit uncomfortable getting paid by Cae Family every day without doing much work. Once I think about the opportunity to duel tomorrow, I get excited.”

“The fact that Mr. Gleen Pan lives in our Cae Family is already something worth paying for.” Caeller smiled as he said. He didn’t dare to disrespect this mage who was short-tempered since he had the Mage Union at his back. He looked at Gleen Pan in his eyes as spoke without looking at Gleen Pan’s ugly nose. “We feel like we owe you, Mr. Gleen Pan, since we have to trouble you for the duel tomorrow.”

“Don’t sweat it. Haha…” Gleen Pan rubbed his favorite wand and said, “Once I finish this duel for your family, I need to go back to the Mage Union in Yulee State and meditate for two years.”

“Two years?” Caeller was a little surprised. “Why do you, Mr. Gleen Pan, have to go back for that long? Are you not satisfied with the current salary that our family is paying you? You know, this matter is negotiable… If the Cae Family lost your support right now…”

“It’s not because of the salary.” Gleen Pan smiled; he liked Caeller’s attitude. After he lightly waved his hand, he said, “When I leave, I will get one of my students to take my place temporarily to help the Cae Family. As for why I’m leaving…”

Gleen Pan lightly raised his head as an excited expression and a sense of pride appeared on his face, “It’s because I can feel that my spiritual power is reaching the peak. Once I return to the Mage Union and meditate for two years, I should be able to condense my spiritual power into magic power and become a Supreme Mage!”

Caeller’s hands that were holding onto the tea cup shivered. He looked at the proud expression on Gleen Pan’s face with surprise. The value and power of a mage was completely different to a Supreme Mage! It was like the difference between dirt and gold.

“Congratulations.”

Cage smiled and nodded. Although Supreme Mages were very precious and rare, as a warrior who awakened his bloodline, he would never look up to a Supreme Mage! He only needed to give Gleen Pan the proper respect. After all, if he could get the help and reinforcement from a Supreme Mage on the Human-Demon Battlefront in the future, it would be much better than the assistance from a mage.

Gleen Pan was very satisfied with the surprise that Caeller had shown. He lightly twisted the red gem that was embedded on the magic wand that he named [Rising Sun]. “With the assistance from this Rising Sun Magic Wand, I’m currently able to instantly use some magic spells without chanting. There will be unimaginable excitement in the duel tomorrow,” he said proudly.

“Yes, yes, yes. I’m also looking forward to the duel tomorrow, and I can no longer wait.” More flattering smiles appeared on Caeller’s face as he said that. At the same time, he was secretly calculating the time that Glan had been out. From his calculations, Glan would be at the Mourning Hall in the Roll Family by now. “How many times is he planning to make Qian Jin puke up blood until he’s satisfied? Please don’t be so excited and kill Qian Jin tonight; otherwise, I can’t see the big show tomorrow.” Caeller thought.

Night. Dark clouds had slowly covered up the half-moon in the sky. As the cold wind blew by, it made the empty roads in front of the Mourning Hall even more desolate.

Glan walked on this quiet and empty road in front of the Mourning Hall with the longsword in his hand. He tucked in his neck a little as he felt the cold breeze blowing on his back. As he frowned and looked around, he somehow disliked the strange atmosphere and surroundings without being able find the reason.

“The Roll Family is at the front.” Glan paced himself with his longsword. When he got close to the building, he reached out his empty hand as he jumped up close to the wall. His hands grabbed onto the firm wall when he was in the air and pulled his whole body upwards. With his toes kicking the wall a little to get more force, he landed and squatted on the wall in Roll Family’s yard. When he looked into the yard, he was quite stunned, “This…?”

Qian Jin stood there in the middle of the yard like a stone statue with the Zhanmadao in his hand; Glan didn’t even sense any living sensation off of him.

When Glan looked into the yard at first, the first thing he thought he saw was a stone; he was only able to tell that the stone was Qian Jin who looked like he was standing there sleeping from a second look.

Rollin’s corpse was still resting in the Mourning Hall, and a few thin pieces of white silk fluttered in the air. Glan couldn’t spot the existence of any living being.

“So it’s Qian Jin’s turn to guard the corpse and the spirit tonight?” Glan laughed quietly. After he put the black cloth on his neck onto his head and covered up his face under his eyes, he murmured, “This is great. I should be able to play around with him longer…”

“Since you came…” Qian Jin who was standing there like a stone statue suddenly opened his mouth and spoke. The atmosphere seemed even more strange and chilling as Qian Jin’s voice resonated in the Mourning Hall. “Get off the wall. At least you are a Demon Fighter.”

Glan turned his head and looked around. He felt a bit uncomfortable and curious after he didn’t spot anyone else on the wall. “Did he really spot me, or did he guess that someone was coming so he said that just to scare people?” Glan thought.

“Aren’t you going to come off?” Qian Jin said calmly as ever; with his eyes closed, he was still in the same position as when Glan jumped onto the wall, “Mr. Glan, since you came here with murderous spirit and intent, I’d guess that you are not here to pay your respects and grievance to fatty Rollin?”

Glan was a little shocked. Despite the fact that Glan felt a little uncomfortable, he jumped off of the wall and took off the black cloth that hid his face as he stared at Qian Jin curiously. “Kid, where did you learn the Scout Technique? If you give it to me, I won’t fight you tonight and leave you more warrior power to duel with Cage tomorrow.”

“So, you’re one of the core members of the Cae Family in Oakland, right?” Qian Jin didn’t answer the question and continued with his own speech, “Then you should know about how Rollin died clearly, right? Come on, tell me. If you do, I will forgive you for interrupting the fatty’s rest and let you live.”

“What did you say?” As if he heard the most ridiculous joke ever, a sense of ferociousness appeared in Glan’s smile. He stretched out all ten joints in his fingers back and forth and said in the bone-cracking noise, “Let me live? If you are not willing to tell me the technique voluntarily, I will beat you up and teach you how the word “Pain” is spelled and pronounced.”

“Pain? Can you?” Qian Jin didn’t even bother opening his eyes. “I rarely give my enemy the chance to live. You should think about it more… Tell me how Rollin died…”

Glan let out a deep roar. Two crackling noises sounded as he rotated his shoulders, and warrior power instantly started to cycle in his body rapidly. His warrior power was almost visible from the outside. Before Qian Jin could finish what he was saying, he had attacked.

He didn’t really think Qian Jin was much of a threat to him. “This kid Qian Jin is younger than nineteen years old. Even if he is now a Demon Fighter, how tough could he be unless he is a warrior who awakened his bloodline? However, that’s not the case.” This was what went through Glan’s head.

With three leaps, all the dust on the ground where Glan charged by were sent into the air. The dust flew to Glan’s ankle, and they made Glan look like he was stepping on clouds. Glan’s thick arms swung upward from a low position and target Qian Jin’s abdomen like a sieging cart.

Glan was strong, so his steps made deep tapping noises that sounded like someone was beating a blanket with a thick stick as he charged at Qian Jin. It was obvious that his warrior power was more explosive in his legs.

“His speed is quick, and his attacking angle is good too. He really does have the strength of a Demon Fighter, and he is a lot stronger than Green Skinned Three Armed Apes.”

Qian Jin felt Glan’s movements with his eyes closed. Glan’s strike felt very powerful and forceful, as if a chariot was charging and war horses were sprinting. This strike had a lot of presence; the wind rose from this strike along. It was strong enough to stop someone from breathing. Qian Jin also sensed some blood in this strike… It meant that this man had killed before!

Glan almost rushed in front of Qian Jin instantly. A bit of suspicion appeared in his eyes first, “Is this kid’s brain not working? Why isn’t he dodging? Could it be that he is so scared that he forgot to move? It doesn’t matter! Let me smash my fists into him and make him puke up today’s dinner first!”

In a split second, Glan finished his thoughts. He turned his waist and struck his fists forward forcefully onto Qian Jin’s abdomen. Bam! After hearing the loud noise and sensing the firm sensation of hitting muscles, excitement popped into his head, “I did it!”

“This?” However, all his excitement and joy instantly turned into surprise. Under his full blow, Qian Jin didn’t get knocked back. Qian Jin didn’t bend his back and puke up blood, and Qian Jin didn’t even feel any pain from what he could tell since Qian Jin’s face didn’t twist or twitch uncomfortably. Glan felt like his heavy punch only lightly caressed Qian Jin’s abdomen; his strength may not have even counted as caressing.
