Chapter 669: Sect Leader
Chapter 669: Sect Leader
When Lin Xuan Qi went back to the mansion, he had his dinner and headed to the lab straight away.
He had sensed everything that had happened through the Natal Puppet during the day but he wanted to check on Lao Er and Ling Er personally.
"Lao Er, Ling Er, are you there?" The low coarse voice sounded from the incense urn and everyone that was in the house stopped what they were doing.
Lao Er and Ling Er quickly got to the front of the incense urn and said, "Grand Ancestor Lin, we are here.
"The battle is over and we’ve won.
"Gui Feng City and the mines are safe.
"Thanks to your friends, Master Lee and Master Han, most of us are doing fine with only minor injuries.
"It was a tough battle for us but we shall learn whatever we can from it and be better in the future.
"The Governor was impressed with what we have done and now, many of the other sects, clans and families know that there is a South Lin Sword Sect in Gui Feng City."
Lao Er briefed Lin Xuan Qi on what had happened and their accomplishments.
They had also gotten a few hundred Spirit Stones from the reward for protecting the mines and the city.
Lee He Song and Han Di also contributed to it from what they had salvaged from the bodies of cultivators from the north.
"That’s great news. Stay vigilant and work hard in your cultivation. There would come a time that I would need you to help my friends in Hong Feng City." Lin Xuan Qi said and both of them bowed at the incense urn.
"We shall be at your service."
Lin Xuan Qi was preparing them to get ready to move to Hong Feng City and be part of the Lin Clan when it was time.
And at the rate that things were going, it shouldn’t be too far away after he had taken care of Zhao Geng Nian and the Qing Feng Sect.
"Great, carry on with your cultivation." Lin Xuan Qi dismissed them and he turned his focus onto Han Di.
Han Di, the Natal Puppet, was with Lee He Song in the inn.
Basking in the joyous mood of the victory, Lee He Song was enjoying his wine together with the other patrons.
Then, Han Di glanced at him and said, "Master Lee, I need you to get back to Hong Feng City as soon as possible."
Lee He Song’s hand froze with the cup of wine in his hand.
He cursed himself for being so hesitant before he put the wine cup onto the table and said, "I will get back to the city now."
"Waiter! Time of the bill." Lee He Song raised his hand and the waiter quickly came over.
He gave out a long sigh and looked at the direction of Chu Clan’s Mansion before standing up from his seat.
After paying for the meal and wine, he left the inn with Han Di.
Both of them wasted no time and they headed back towards Hong Feng City immediately.
When the news of the Crimson Wolf Lord’s defeat arrived in the ears of Zhao Geng Nian, Lin Xuan Qi expected some actions and retaliation from him in frustration.
It was best to have Lee He Song and his Natal Puppet with him.
...
Next day.
Inside Zhao Geng Nian’s Residence, he was seated in the central seat of the main hall.
His eyes were closed when the messenger briefed him on what had happened in Gui Feng City and the crushing defeat of him by Qian Shi and the other defenders of the city.
"You may leave now..." Zhao Geng Nian waved his hand at the messenger and the messenger quickly scurried out from the main hall, before things turned south for him.
"Qian Shi... Gui Feng..." He grunted and mumbled to himself while thoughts went through his mind.
His plan after plan was spoiled by someone else and to make it worse for him, he didn’t know who it was.
Zhao Geng Nian shot a glance to his side instinctively and he wanted to call out to Xiao Feng.
But the seat that was usually occupied by Xiao Feng was empty.
He glanced at the senior disciple standing on the opposite side instead and asked, "What is Lin Xuan Qi up to recently?"
The disciple cupped his hands, bowed at him and said, "He was busy with the opening of the so-called Shopping Mall and it was... a success.
"He went back to his mansion after that every day and there was nothing unusual about what he was doing daily."
Zhao Geng Nian closed his eyes and pondered.
Even though Lin Xuan Qi’s behavior was like a businessman, something just didn’t sit right for him.
Everything seemed to have something to do with Lin Xuan Qi.
He thought about making a drastic action before he heard a familiar voice which brought him out of his thoughts immediately.
"What is happening." The voice of the Qing Feng Sect’s sect leader, Zhao Ming Ye sounded in the main hall.
Zhao Ming Ye was a thin frail looking old man with a head of white hair and long white beard.
His small eyes darted around like an eagle’s gaze.
"Sect leader, you should have informed me so that I can welcome you at the gates." Zhao Geng Nian stood up from his seat and cupped his hands at his sect leader.
"Hmph. Do you think I still have time for this." Zhao Ming Ye brushed his hand to the back and said with impatience.
He walked towards the central seat in the main hall and sat down on it.
Zhao Geng Nian bowed at him and said, "I will do my best to accomplish what you’ve tasked."
"Do you think I would trust you after so many failures?
"I’ve just heard about the defeat of the Crimson Wolf Lord in Gui Feng.
"There is no time anymore for us.
"It’s either we grab whatever we can now, or we become one of the forgotten sects in the long history of this world." Zhao Ming Ye said and gave a stern glance at Zhao Geng Nian.
"I will try my best, it’s just that there is someone being a step ahead of me every time." Zhao Geng Nian lowered his head and replied.
"Isn’t Xiao Feng around to help... Never mind. Tell me all about it." Zhao Ming Ye stopped mid-sentence when he realized that Xiao Feng was no longer around.
Zhao Geng Nian began to brief the sect leader about everything, especially his suspicion with Lin Xuan Qi.
