Lin Xuan Qi on the other hand was busy with the opening of the shopping mall.
Old Heng, young master Chew and their friends were gathered at the entrance of the shopping mall waiting for the start of the opening ceremony.
There was already a crowd waiting to see what was going on.
They had seen the construction going on for so long and they were curious to see if it was as convenient as they had been told by Lin Xuan Qi earlier.
"The auspicious time has arrived." A servant told Lin Xuan Qi and he nodded his head at him.
"Welcome everyone to the opening ceremony of the Lin Clan Shopping Mall.
"There will be lucky draws, events and prizes when you make a purchase from the shops in the mall later.
"Please join us in this wonderful occasion to celebrate the beginning of our Shopping Mall."
He said and Old Heng together with the others let out a loud cheer.
They too were eager to see how the reception by the customers would be after such a long wait.
Lin Xuan Qi lit up the firecrackers prepared for the opening and the firecrackers began to give out their auspicious cracks.
Then, the doors to the Shopping Mall were finally opened.
The crowd that had gathered outside streamed into it and glanced around at the selection of stores.
Near the entrance was the linchpin tenant which sold the soap and Lin Clan Taste Transcendent Essence.
It would be the only place other than the retail store to get those in Hong Feng City.
"Look, there are food stores after this." The crowd smelled the aroma that wafted into their noses from the food stores that were after the soap store.
And as they went further into the shopping mall, they were pleasantly surprised by what they saw.
"There’s vegetables and fresh meat."
Further into the Shopping Mall were the shops selling groceries and fresh meat.
"That’s not all, look, there are stores selling clothes and other daily items!" One of the customers pointed out the shops that were further inside the Shopping Mall.
Everything was what Lin Xuan Qi had advertised to them.
"Come in and have a look. If you buy anything you can get a lucky draw coupon to win something in the grand lucky draw later." The shop attendants said when they saw the crowd walking by.
That enticed some of them in the crowd to stop and see if there was anything that they could purchase from the shop.
Some of them bought snacks while some bought new clothes for the autumn.
And when they were done, they received a coupon to be used for the lucky draw, which they had no idea what it was about.
It was only when they arrived at the information counter that they knew what to do with it.
"Tear half of the coupon and put it into this box.
"The lucky draw will happen at the end of the day.
"You can have a look at the prizes or shop around for the time being before the lucky draw commences." The staff at the information counter said and pointed at a box for them to put the lucky draw coupon in.
It was something new for the customers and they were happy to try it out.
And they were even more surprised when they saw the prizes for the lucky draw.
"Am I seeing things? The first prize is ten taels of silver?"
"No, you aren’t seeing things. It’s written there on the top."
"I will have to buy something to get a chance to win it."
The amount for the first prize got the crowd excited and they began to shop around to buy something to be eligible to join the lucky draw.
"Master Lin and his ideas worked out perfectly as usual." Old Heng said and the others nodded their heads vigorously.
Lin Xuan Qi felt flattered by them and said, "It’s just a little way to entice the customers to stay around and buy something.
"I have other events lined up for every month to keep things fresh and bring in footfall to the Shopping Mall."
"That’s great to hear." Old Heng nodded his head at Lin Xuan Qi approvingly and said.
The Shopping Mall idea had exceeded their expectations.
It was covered so the shoppers didn’t have to worry about the weather the way they were used to.
And the selection of shops meant that most of their daily needs could be satisfied by a trip to the mall instead of what they had to do previously.
Going around the city to run their errands was an unpleasant and time-consuming task compared to what they could accomplish within one location in the Shopping Mall.
"When will you be expanding this concept to other cities?" Young master Chew couldn’t wait and asked.
The others nodded their heads vigorously when they heard him.
With what they were witnessing, they couldn’t wait for an opportunity to have another shop in other cities to make more money.
Lin Xuan Qi, however, shook his head at them and said, "I know you are anxious to make more but I’m planning to see how it goes first for a few months before making my next move."
His main purpose for the Shopping Mall was to envelop Zhao Geng Nian’s Residence and strike when it was time; making money from it was a pleasant side effect which he didn’t mind.
But right now, as long as Zhao Geng Nian and the threat from the Qing Feng Sect weren’t over, he would rather focus on his cultivation and taking care of them eventually before expanding to the other cities.
"We understand. Your wife and concubines should be delivering very soon, since it’s near autumn now." Old Heng said and the others realized that they had been too focused on making money and had forgotten about this.
"I better prepare the best gift I can for Master Lin’s child when they arrive."
"I’m sure Master Lin’s child would have the best they can get so I’ll have to go with something unique."
"Something unique? I better figure out something different then."
Their friends chattered and thought about what gifts they could get for Lin Xuan Qi’s child when they arrived.
"You don’t have to." Lin Xuan Qi said but his lips couldn’t help but curl up at the joyous mood in the Shopping Mall.
