The conference was over and Ning Mei and Gu Liya were getting ready for the party that was about to get started.
Gu Liya personally did not want to throw a party, but her family insisted on it. So therefore, all the big business personalities would be present today at the party. Among of the guests, Gu Liya did not even know many, and they were all invited by her grandfather, so that she gets more connections and opportunities in future.
Gu Liya had worn a shimmering body hugging, black off shoulder dress that looked amazing on her figure. She paired them with white diamond jewelleries.
And Ning Mei wore a deep neck, dark red full sleeved bodycon gown, that had a slit on the right side from her knee. She had paired her look with light gold jewels.
Both the women looked bold, classy and elegant. It was a given that no person would be able to avert their eyes from them without taken a second glance.
Gu Liya and Ning Mei were on the way to the hall where the party was being organised. It was a hotel owned by the Gu Corporations, and they were walking on the corridor to go to the hall.
" ....and do you know what did he say - " Gu Liya’s was saying something funny to Ning Mei but her words struck midway when when she saw someone standing in front of them.
Ning Mei who was keenly listening to Gu Liya also turned to see why she went quiet and saw someone familiar standing in front of them.
On seeing him, unlike Gu Liya who had turned slightly pale, a smile bloomed on her face and she walked forward to greet him, "Hii, Chen Yang. It’s so nice to see you here."
Now, Ning Mei has dropped the formalities between them of Senior and junior. It was him who almost had her brain fried, telling her to only call her with his name. And he only stopped when she did.
Ning Mei walked upto him with a smile. But right now, she was noticed something. She had seen it many times, that on the set , Chen Yang would be cold and serious to everyone, except for her. With her he would talk like a normal person, smile , laugh and also joke. It was not in a romantic way but more in a brotherly way.
But right now, he had neither of those looks on his face. He appeared dazed and his eyes were focused on Gu Liya. But very soon, he averted his gaze and looked at Ning Mei and smiled brightly, " Oh , hii Ning Mei. You look gorgeous, really! Where are you headed to?"
Ning Mei raised her brows and accepting the compliment with a smile and said, " Really? Thank you so much. "
Ning Mei then saw his eyes stop at Gu Ya fir a split second before returning back to her.
If it was someone else, they might have not thought really noticed, and even if they did notice, they would not think about it much.
But Ning Mei knew something was more than what was visible between them. There was no doubt, that they knew each other from before. Chen Yang’s gaze that had gone dazed for a few seconds earlier had given it out. Maybe he thought, he concealed it properly, but not from Ning Mei, who was used to reading eyes and expressions.
Also, Gu Liya’s stunned and pake face spoke volumes right now. Now to mention, Gu Yeze’s and Gu Liya’s curiousity when she first mentioned about Chen Yang.
So putting two and two together, it is giving kind of four.
She made up her mind to try to dwell deeper into it. But right now, nevertheless, she told him, " We are going to the party downstairs. It is my friend’s Gu Liya’s celebration party. Her brand Koral has launched on international market. " She said pointing at Gu Liya.
Chen Yang smiled politely and said, "Congratulations on the success of your brand, Miss Gu. I did not know that you were the mysterious CEO of Koral."
Gu Liya smiled at him, the smile not even reaching her eyes and she nodded and thanked him. Her words barely a wishper. But hearing his words, the pain was evident in her eyes.
Chen Yang cleared his voice and looked back at Ning Mei and smiled. He said, " Alright Ning Mei, go enjoy. Actually, I am here to meet someone. "
Ning Mei raised her eyebrows and said , " Oh. That’s nice. Then why don’t you join us downstairs after your meeting is over. "
Chen Yang rubbed his head and said, "Well. I don’t think I can. So I would just pass it. Okay, see you then."
Ning Mei nodded at him understandingly. He glanced at Gu Liya for less than a second for the last time and then bid good bye to Ning Mei before walking towards his room.
After Chen Yang was gone, Ning Mei looked at Gu Liya who has turned her head behind to look at where he went, and she called him, " Gu Liya? "
Gu Liya turned to Ning Mei with a small smile as if nothing had happened, but the earlier naturally happy smile was gone. She walked towards Ning Mei and stood beside her. She said, " Sister in law, I know you are a keen observer. And you noticed things that transpired right now. But can we not talk about any of it right now. Please. "
Ning Mei could feel that she was hurting inside, and that she was hiding it with a smile. She took a step forward and enveloped the girl into her arms. Gu Liya too wrapped her arms around Ning Mei, right now she was in a desperate need for a hug. Her heart was paining.
After a few seconds, Ning Mei rubbed Gu Liya’s back and said, " Alright now. You are not going to cry, okay. It’s a beg day for you. And I don’t need the star of the party’s make up to get ruined by this stupid tears. "
Gu Liya checked and pulled back from the hug and said, " No, I am not crying. " Then she smiled and said, " Okay, let’s go."
