The disciples of the Black Demon Palace were frustrated after the Cosmic Grotto’s robbery. As a result, no one said anything on the next part of the journey. The atmosphere was extremely heavy. Even Sheng Zhibai and Sheng Zhiyi who surrounded Jing Mumu in an attempt to befriend her had cut back on their enthusiasm.

Suddenly, a disciple of the Black Demon Palace cried out. Several strands of Taiji spiritual Qi emerged from the ground a few hundred kilometres away, floating around aimlessly among the dense spiritual Qi.

The eyes of the depressed disciples of the Black Demon Palace immediately lit up. However, right when they wanted to head over and collect the strands, a closer group reached there before them. They collected all eight strands of Taiji spiritual Qi.

“Fellows of the Black Demon Palace, you were one step too slow.” One of them smiled at the disciples of the Black Demon Palace. Even though their group only had around sixty people, they did not fear the Black Demon Palace.

Ye Kai said nothing. He clasped his fist towards them before leading his group away without any hesitation.

“Fellow Ye Kai, which organisation do they belong to? If you wanted to fight them for it, we’d probably succeed,” Jing Mumu asked curiously. Her eyes shone with fighting spirit. She was eager to have a go as if she had been holding back for a very long time now.

“They’re from the Thousand Mountains clan. They’re second only to the Cosmic Grotto. When we came to the Taiji mountain range this time, great elder Ye specially instructed us to never, ever antagonise the Thousand Mountains clan,” Ye Kai said emotionlessly.

In the blink of an eye, seven days had already passed. During these seven days, the group from the Black Demon Palace had a small harvest. They obtained a total of twenty-six strands of Taiji spiritual Qi over the course of the week.

Jing Mumu did not obtain any of the twenty-six strands of Taiji spiritual Qi. After all, these disciples had only received an order to give Jing Mumu a strand of it. Then they only needed to ensure her safety in the Taiji mountain range.

Over the next few days, Jing Mumu was disinterested. She was already considering leaving them, as she had discovered that travelling with the disciples of the Black Demon Palace would instead get in her way. If she were alone, she could freely fight for the Taiji spiritual Qi. That way, she would be able to obtain some no matter what. However, by travelling with the Black Demon Palace, they would merely treat her as someone they needed to protect. She basically would not receive a share.

“My master sent me in here to collect as much Taiji spiritual Qi as I could, yet I’ve failed to make any progress. How am I supposed to face my master once I leave?” Jing Mumu stood on a boulder and kicked the weeds that grew out from the cracks in boredom. Her desire to leave intensified.

Several hundred metres away, a few core disciples of the Black Demon Palace were absorbing the Taiji spiritual Qi while the remaining disciples watched the surroundings.

Over the past few days, Jing Yao’s mental state had recovered substantially. She still said very little, but she paid particular attention to Jing Mumu. Her gaze would always gloss over Jing Mumu.

She seemed to notice something from Jing Mumu’s expression. She turned around suddenly and said to Ye Kai, “Give my portion of Taiji spiritual Qi to Jing Mumu from here on out.”

When he heard that, Ye Kai furrowed his brows slightly. He was troubled, as the order he had received was only to help Jing Mumu obtain a strand of Taiji spiritual Qi.

He had already given her that strand of Taiji spiritual Qi. If he continued to give her more, that would be equivalent to acting against the Black Demon Palace’s interests.

If Jing Mumu were a disciple of the Black Demon Palace, Ye Kai obviously would not have too many qualms. Just her connection to great elder Xue warranted special care.

However, she did not belong to the Black Demon Palace at the end of the day.

Most importantly, he did not know what kind of relationship existed between Jing Mumu and great elder Xue. Was it just a deal? Or was it something else? If it were merely a deal, giving her any more Taiji spiritual Qi would be inappropriate.

As for Jing Yao herself, her master did not even bid farewell to her before she left, so she obviously would not come to the Taiji mountain range for her.

Ye Kai furrowed his brows even further. After some thought, he explained his thoughts to Jing Yao secretly.

However, his explanation was not enough to persuade Jing Yao. The two of them began arguing very soon. Ye Kai’s face was filled with distress. Meanwhile, Jing Yao was furious like an angry lion.

Ye Kai wanted to say something, but his communication jade slip suddenly shook violently. An urgent message had been delivered.

Immediately, all of the disciples of the Black Demon Palace stood up. Even the disciples who were in the middle of refining Taiji spiritual Qi temporarily stopped, racing off to the spring with the group.

“Fellow Jing, I’m afraid there’ll be a bitter battle between us and the Blade Sect of Trickling Moon later. We might not be able to take care of you. You need to be very careful.” Underneath everyone’s feet, the mountains rapidly receded. Along the way to the spring, Ye Kai sternly told Jing Mumu this.

“Fellow Ye Kai, you only need to focus on the enemy. I’m not as weak as you might imagine. I can take good care of myself,” Jing Mumu said confidently.

Before long, they finally arrived at the spring with the disciples of the Black Demon Palace. The spring was simply a place where spiritual Qi erupted from, but it would appear much more frequently here. Once they occupied the spring, they would only need to guard the place to obtain a steady supply of Taiji spiritual Qi. They would not have to search the entire mountain range any more.
