Chapter 3228: Belphegor’s Plot - II

Date: Unspecified

Time: Unspecified

Location: Myriad Realms, Dark Realm, Seven Prince of Hell Territory, Pandemonium City, Center of Pandemonium Volcano, Millennium Volcano Heart Natural Array

Belphegor’s plan was basically the same as mine. I wanted to use the Bloodrool representative through Mommon to create trouble for Belphegor. Meanwhile, Belphegor was using the Bloodrool representative to get rid of the other six faction leaders.

This way, he would become the sole leader of the faction and also establish a friendship with the Bloodrools. Not to mention, he would also get the satisfaction of seeing Card World being destroyed way sooner than the Seven Princes of Hell ever could have, and that too without lifting a finger.

The Seven Princes of Hell faction had seven leaders to deter enemies from considering them easy prey, but if Belphegor had the backing of the Bloodrools, he wouldn’t need the other leaders to run the faction, as there would be no one foolish enough to set their sights on a faction connected to the Bloodrools.

Even though I had deduced what Belphegor’s final game plan was, there were still too many unanswered questions.

i) Why was Belphegor going around visiting the faction leaders, trying to convince them not to sell the rights to Card World to the Bloodrools?ii) How did Belphegor plan to gain control of the territories and subordinates of the late faction leaders when they figured out that he was the traitor who had gotten their respective leaders killed, considering he was the only surviving faction leader?

iii) It was pretty obvious why the Bloodrools spared Mommon, but why did they spare Belphegor too, despite knowing that Belphegor was not only using them but also the reason they didn’t get the rights to Card World sooner without getting their hands dirty?

I had long figured out the answers to these three questions. That was why I took my Maworm form and escaped into the herbal garden.

The reason Belphegor was going around visiting the other faction leaders was not to convince them not to sell the rights to Card World to the Bloodrools but to confirm their locations for the assassins sent by the Bloodrools.

It was basically the exact same reason I planned to use Gideon, whom he had tagging along with him under the excuse that he would help him convince the other faction leaders not to sell the rights to Card World to the Bloodrools.

This explained how the Bloodrools were so quick to execute the other five faction leaders when Mommon had just contacted them. It was because they were already prepared and about to make their move when they received Mommon’s text, informing them of Belphegor’s game.

If not for the text message Mommon sent to the Bloodrool representative, their assassins would have long since infiltrated the Millennium Volcano Heart Natural Array Formation and murdered Belphegor along with the other faction leader.

That answered the first question. As for how Belphegor planned to take control of the territories governed by and members allied with the late faction leaders, it was simple, really. He had already shown the faction members that he was on their side while the other faction leaders weren’t when he opposed the sale of the rights to Card World to the Bloodrools.

As for the deaths of the other faction leaders, the living have to live on, and the dead will be forgotten.

Belphegor would claim that he had done what was necessary to save the faction from the cruel and heartless Bloodrools while handing out higher incentives, privileges, and authority to all the members who sided with him. Since he would have the backing of the Bloodrools, those unwilling to cooperate would have no choice but to roll over.

Regardless of where their loyalties lay, this was still a dark faction we were talking about. Their only priority was profits. If Belphegor could give them that, they would get used to the new changes.

As for why the Bloodrools spared Belphegor despite knowing that he had tricked them?

The Bloodrools never actually spared him. It was just that, in the initial plan, they hadn’t sent any assassins to kill Belphegor.

But now it was too late to send assassins after him because when Mommon didn’t send a text requesting help along with the other faction leaders, Belphegor must have realized that he wasn’t the only one who wanted to use the Bloodrools to get the rights to the other faction leaders’ territories and should be on the run right now.

The Bloodrool representative called Mommon their ally and even sent an invitation to attend a party in the Sunless Realm, which was one of the highest honours the Bloodrools could give to an outsider. It was set in stone that the Bloodrools wanted to buy the rights to Card World from Belphegor. So, that’s how I knew that the Bloodrools hadn’t spared Belphegor and that he was on the run.

To be more accurate, Belphegor was rushing over to Pandemonium City. That was because the only way for him to see his initial plan through was by making sure that the Bloodrools had no choice but to buy the rights to Card World from him, and the only way to do that was to ensure that he was the only surviving member of the Seven Princes of Hell dark faction.

Yes, Belphegor was now heading to Pandemonium City to kill Mommon. This way, he could simply offer the rights to Card World to the Bloodrools in exchange for their mercy and even their friendship.

Belphegor believed there was still hope and that he could still salvage the whole thing. But unfortunately for him, he wasn’t rushing over to save his plans, but to his death. That was because I was hiding in the herbal garden, planning to ambush Belphegor when he came to kill Mommon. That was if he managed to get past the ruler-class assassins sent by the Bloodrools who were waiting for him in Pandemonium City.

The assassins that the Bloodrools had initially placed in Pandemonium City to assassinate Mommon were now likely acting as Mommon’s bodyguards, having thought of the possible places Belphegor might go or moves he might make to save his skin.

As arrogant as the Bloodrools were, they were just as prideful. Now that they had called Mommon their ally, they would do their utmost to keep their word.
