Chapter 3204: I’m The Calamity, Destroyer Of Worlds!

Date: Unspecified

Time: Unspecified

Location: Myriad Cosmos Corridor, Unknow

"It’s there, silly. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have informed you that you had the potential to become a Cosmic Calamity Seed," BoBo answered, purposefully taking too long to answer, followed by her giggle that reminded me of the Dark Pixies every time. "You seem to be forgetting that World Calamity Trees like Primordial Pixies are not from a specific cosmos. We do not belong to the realm where we are deployed; we are just assigned to it. Technically, we belong to the Myriad Corridor, where all the energies are, which is why we can exist here."

I mulled over BoBo’s words to understand why she used the word technically.

According to her, multiple cosmos created the Myriad Cosmos, which in turn created the Myriad Cosmos Corridor we see today. But if you think about it, the Myriad Cosmos Corridor came before the cosmos and the Myriad Cosmos; they just shaped the Myriad Cosmos Corridor we know today. I.e., the Myriad Cosmos was born and created in the Myriad Corridor. This was my take, but I didn’t dare to say it with certainty until I learned about the Myriad Cosmos. But I could only learn about it from BoBo if I became a Cosmic Calamity Seed.

"Should we get back to discussing the workings of Cosmos, or will we continue trying to see if you can get me to give more information on the Myriad Cosmos?"

Peeking down from my hair to look me in the eyes, BoBo caught me averting my gaze, and I nodded in shame. I was a little grateful to BoBo that she didn’t use the word trick, when that was basically what I was trying to do. It was like a gamer trying to find bugs just to take advantage of them. When you’re doing it, it’s fun, but when you think about the morality behind it, it gives you a headache.

Seeing me nod, BoBo began, "Honestly, I don’t know why you are being so impatient when you will get all the answers you need in time. You don’t need to try and see if you can wiggle some extra information out of me. If something needs to be said in due time, I will tell you. We are a team. Let me worry about the logistics, you be you."

BoBo’s right, but I disagreed with her, as she was speaking from the perspective of someone who might have lived since the beginning of the cosmos. Though I am not a World Calamity Tree and Celestial hybrid, I am still a human. And while I still had my humanity, I wanted to do everything I wanted so that I wouldn’t regret it for several million millennia to come.

To do that, I first needed to figure out how big the board was. Then I needed to find out which pieces I controlled and which were the variable pieces. That way, I could build a life that I wouldn’t regret for several million millennia to come. If not, I would rather die trying. I didn’t want to live for several million millennia only to be left guessing what I could have done differently.

I knew I was obsessively controlling.

I had just freaking learned that there was more to reality than the Myriad Realms. There was the ever-expanding Myriad Cosmos and its Corridor.

And here I was, already planning to control it all.

"So, where were we?

"The cosmic balance of a cosmos. What is it, and how does it affect its expansion rate?

"The cosmic balance of a cosmos is the balance between the matter and energies in it. The harmony between them will cause the cosmos to expand at a rate that is ideal for its size. Otherwise, it might go faster or slower, leading to its end sooner than it should have, directly affecting the expansion rate of the Myriad Cosmos.

"An ideal cosmos, with an ideal cosmic balance between its matter and energies, would expand and collide with surrounding cosmoses at an ideal rate, shrinking into a singularity and feeding the expansion of the Myriad Cosmos before restarting all over again. Imagine millions of cosmoses doing this together in harmony, feeding the expansion of the Myriad Cosmos like a well-oiled machine.

"However, this ideal state is very hard to achieve in a cosmos because matter and energies aren’t always in harmony. By matter and energies, I don’t just mean the Celestials and the derivatives of the original energies in that realm, but also the living beings. They are the biggest variable in achieving cosmic balance.

"If there are too many beings in the cosmos, its energy gets consumed faster, and its expansion rate slows down. At some point, the expansion rate becomes weaker than its gravity, so the expansion reverses, and the cosmos shrinks into a singularity much sooner than it should have. That’s a better outcome than the energy being consumed so fast that the entire cosmos freezes and dies.

"If there are fewer beings in the cosmos than there should be, there is too much energy fueling its expansion. At some point, the cosmos will expand violently, tearing itself apart.

"This is where the World Calamity Trees come into the picture. In the first scenario, you decrease the population by killing most of the natives or their realm itself. In the second scenario, you kill the Celestials that aren’t creating their own natives, creating room for new Celestials."

Done with the explanation, BoBo flew out of my hair, asking, "Do you get it now?"

"So, when you say the World Calamity Tree’s duty is to maintain the balance of the cosmos, you basically mean population control," I replied, thinking of the lines:

’I’m the Calamity, Destroyer of Realms.

Yet, I am the protector of the Cosmos.’

I used to think that the Primordial Pixies were the most compassionate beings in the entire cosmos, but now, after learning this, I don’t know what to think.

’Do you blame the gardener for rooting out weeds, dying plants, and plants that refuse to flower, to make room for new ones?’

’No.’

’You stand in awe of their garden.’
