As I sensed the vibrations of its giggles, I was certain it was a Dark Pixie. Though a little disappointed, I was excited, and my anticipation grew with every second as I sensed it getting nearer and nearer to one of my fruits.
Though I wondered what the Dark Pixie was giggling about, because they only giggled like that when they were pulling a prank or tricking someone.
Anyway, it finally made it to my fruit and held it in its tiny arms. The fruit was as big as the pixie itself, so I was worried if it could even eat the whole damn thing or get full even before it swallowed the seed. However, my concerns were unnecessary. When it opened its mouth wide and chomped down on it hard, the entire fruit seemed to dissolve into its mouth and enter its body.
Finally!
"Hehehe, hehehe."
Sensing the giggle, I felt something was wrong because the Calamity Daughter Seeds were devoid of emotion unless the World Calamity Seed was conveying the emotion through them.
Something was seriously wrong here.
Since I didn’t have my Hive Spirit, as it was in my Soul Gem, I tried to sense and contact the Daughter Seed mentally, like a regular World Calamity Tree would.
But to my dismay, I couldn’t sense the Daughter Seed in the Dark Pixie, and eerily enough, the Dark Pixie’s giggles became more frequent.
’Was she immune to the World Calamity Tree’s Daughter Seeds?’
’Or did she know I was a World Calamity Tree and pretend to eat the seed when she had actually stored it away?’
Her giggles were getting on my nerves. Combined with my existing frustration, I mentally cursed, ’Damn you, Dark Pixie!’
Suddenly, the Dark Pixie stopped giggling and glared at me, snapping, ’How dare you call me a Dark Pixie?’
I heard her loud and clear in my mind.
’I don’t know about where you come from, but here, Dark Pixie is a derogatory term. Don’t you ever use it. Fortunately for you, I’m very magnanimous, unlike my tribesmen. So, I will let it slide, just this once. Besides, it’s not every day we get to see a World Calamity Tree with a complete consciousness. Or even a World Calamity Tree, for that matter. After all, we made sure you can’t enter the Source unless you are in grave danger.’
It took me a while to process what I was hearing.
i) Dark Pixie is a derogatory term.
If someone called me a Dark Pixie, I would be offended. So, it was a derogatory term.
ii) World Calamity Trees have incomplete consciousness.
I always believed that the World Calamity Tree had a simple consciousness: enslave, eat, evolve, sleep, repeat. That was why I liked to consider them machines of destruction. I guess incomplete consciousness explained that.
iii) Wherever this was, not many World Calamity Trees had made it here. And only a few of them had complete consciousness like me.
Well, considering the simulation I conducted, the chances of a World Calamity Tree awakening its Bloodline were almost non-existent unless the Realm they were in was as dangerous as the Realm of True Evil. Even in the Realm of True Evil, only one in every three World Calamity Trees actually awakened their Bloodline.
iv) They enter the Source when they are in grave danger.
The reason there was no data about the World Calamity Tree’s Bloodline awakening in its Soul Pathways was that, for a World Calamity Tree, awakening its Bloodline meant entering its Source.
As much as I was happy to learn that I was right about one thing, there were still many questions that needed to be answered.
’Why aren’t you speaking? Are you a little bit slow?’ the pixie asked, waking me from my thoughts as she circled me curiously, as if she were inspecting me.
’What are you? What do I call you?’ I asked, trying hard not to sound disrespectful.
’My name’s BoBo, a Primordial Pixie of the Myriad Cosmos Corridor,’ BoBo answered with a twirl and a flare, making me wonder if she was sure she wasn’t a Dark Pixie.
Still, I was right. She was a Primordial Pixie. But what was a Myriad Cosmos Corridor?
From her words earlier, I knew it was the source of the World Calamity Tree. But what actually was it?
And weren’t the Pixies supposed to be World Calamity Trees’ food?
More importantly, how did time flow here compared to the Dark Realm? I didn’t want to miss my hearing with the Demon Merchant Code or Peyote’s appointment with Maestro Matteo because I was stuck in this realm.
So, I hurriedly asked, ’What is the time zone difference between here and the Dark Realm? And how do I leave here?’
’You must have been in quite a pickle when you were brought here to ask about time dilution,’ Bobo remarked before answering, ’Don’t worry. The Myriad Cosmos Corridor is outside of whatever Cosmos you are from. So, when you return, it will be like you never left.’
Finally, a weight was lifted off my heart. I was happy to learn that I was right once again. We were outside of the Myriad Realms. No wonder I could not sense the Origin Source. And what’s the deal with me not sensing my Soul Gem?
’I see you are not slow, you are too cautious. That’s a rare trait in a World Calamity Tree. Myriad Cosmos Singularities are indeed different from the rest.’
Bobo continued to scrutinize my every word and action, getting impressed each time. But she would use words that I had no idea about, like Myriad Cosmos Singularities. It only added to the mountain of questions I wanted to ask her.
Fortunately for me, I had all the time in the world to ask her these questions as when I returned to my Temporal Cave in Azorheim from the Myriad Cosmos Corridor, I would return at the same second as when I entered the Myriad Cosmos Corridor.
