As I skimmed through the notifications, my eyes gradually widened in astonishment. Increasing the purity of a Cursed Primordial Bloodline was no trivial matter. I had theorized that it might be possible and had been searching for a starting point ever since recruiting my first Bloodkin.
Now, I finally had one. And the rewards were far greater than I had ever imagined. My gaze instinctively drifted toward Maworm, who was still relentlessly chasing Lil’ Baem across Aqualas’s Ocean World Domain. Sparing with another primordial creature, was that the trigger? I don’t think that was it. It must have been Maworm’s stubborn will to swallow Lil’ Baem even if it kills it.
A faint smile tugged at my lips. Maworm had become only the second Bloodkin to awaken her Innate Calamity, following Sansa. Yet she had achieved something even Sansa hadn’t. She had become the first Bloodkin to actively increase the purity of her bloodline.
After thinking about it over, there was little room for doubt about what had triggered the bloodline purity. It wasn’t the battle for sure but Maworm’s relentless determination to devour another primordial creature. That instinct wasn’t born of hostility. It was etched into the very essence of her existence.
By acting according to the deepest instincts of her primordial bloodline and pushing those instincts against an equally ancient existence, Maworm had stimulated the dormant potential within her own lineage.
The notifications filling my Grimoire confirmed my initial theory. Bloodline purity wasn’t a fixed value. It could grow. And if Maworm could increase the purity of her Cursed Primordial Bloodline. Then, theoretically, every Bloodkin possessed the potential to deepen and refine their own bloodline as well. That single revelation was worth it.
"Wyatt! Quit spacing out and help me separate them!" Corey shouted, desperately trying to chase after the two primordial serpents.
Pulled from my thoughts, I raised my head toward the churning expanse of Aqualas’s Ocean World Domain. The once tranquil ocean had transformed into a colossal whirlpool of black and silver.
Towering waves rose and collapsed in every direction as the two primordial creatures twisted beneath the surface, their powers staining the sea itself. Silver mist spread across the water like drifting moonlight, while black ink seeped through the ocean in countless tendrils, swallowing everything it touched.
Without my Soul Pupils, it would have been impossible to distinguish either creature within that chaotic storm. Through my enchanted vision, however, every movement became crystal clear.
Lil’ Baem remained as ferocious as ever. She darted through the black currents with undiminished aggression, lunging again and again with bared fangs, refusing to surrender despite having been swallowed moments earlier.
For the first time since their battle began, however. She was losing ground. Maworm’s movements had become noticeably more fluid, more instinctive. Every coil, every bite, every surge of power carried an unmistakable difference.
The increase in her bloodline purity wasn’t merely strengthening her body. It was refining every racial ability she possessed. Most obvious of all. Was the Insatiable Ink. It resembled the space-borne plague. The ink had become darker, denser, almost alive. Wherever it spread, it didn’t simply stain space it Infected it.
The surrounding space warped as though afflicted by a contagious disease, black veins branching outward from every drop of ink. Reality itself seemed to lose its integrity, gradually succumbing to the corruption as the infection spread through the Ocean World like a living blight.
Even Lil’ Baem’s Vapor Venom, which had previously erased the ink with relative ease, was beginning to falter. The silver mist still purified the corruption wherever it passed, but it no longer erased the Black Ink as effortlessly as before.
Instead, the two primordial powers struggled against one another in an uneasy equilibrium. For every strand of Black Ink dissolved. Another emerged to take its place. The balance of the battle had shifted. And it had shifted entirely in Maworm’s favor.
"Maworm, playtime’s over. Come back," I ordered aloud. The battle had gone on long enough. My gaze remained fixed on the ever-expanding Insatiable Ink. It was no longer merely staining the battlefield.
It was infecting the very fabric of space wherever it spread. At this rate, she wouldn’t just consume Aqualas’s Ocean World Domain. She would eventually begin devouring portions of the Card World’s space itself.
The thought sent a chill through me. Maworm had crossed another threshold. She was no longer simply a primordial predator. She had become a genuine calamity, an existence that could stand alongside the World Calamity Tree as a disaster capable of threatening the world itself.
The moment my command reached her, Maworm immediately stopped releasing the Insatiable Black Ink. Then she did something I hadn’t anticipated. Interpreting my order far too literally, she began drawing every trace of the Black Ink back into herself.
My expression immediately changed. Damn it. I should’ve been more specific. Everything the Insatiable Ink had infected had already become part of its domain. As the Black Ink flowed back toward Maworm, it dragged everything tainted by it along.
Space itself folded inward. Reality groaned under the impossible force. A deafening crack echoed across the Ocean World Domain. Then. the domain tore apart. A massive hole was ripped straight through Aqualas’s Ocean World, exposing the unstable space beyond.
The collapse didn’t stop there. The breach continued punching through layer after layer of space before finally rupturing the sky above Freedom Megalopolis. High above the city, an enormous void suddenly opened.
The collapsing Ocean World Domain, along with its endless seawater, everyone inside it, and the distorted space surrounding the breach, was violently pulled toward the opening as though the heavens themselves had split apart. Below the unsuspecting city lay directly in its path.
"Corey, help everyone!" I ordered as I turned my full attention toward the city below.
There wasn’t a second to waste. The rupture in space was still expanding, threatening to drag the entire Ocean World Domain into Freedom Megalopolis. Without hesitation, I focused my mind and rapidly constructed a Reality Isolation Seal over the city.
Reality itself unfolded beneath my fingertips as countless soul energy arrangements spread across the sky, weaving together into a colossal seal that spawned the reality around the entire city.
Normally, constructing a seal of this scale required careful planning. Every layer had to be tailored to withstand a specific Ruler-class opponent while concealing its existence from other powerful entities. This time, however, none of those concerns existed.
There was no enemy trying to interfere. No need to disguise the seal. No reason to optimize it against a particular Rule. I simply brute-forced the construction. Within mere seconds, the completed Reality Isolation Seal was established, securing the city in a sub reality. The violent gravitational pull that had begun dragging buildings skyward came to an abrupt halt. The city was safe.
