Beware Mr. Officer, Tread Carefully!

Chapter 389 - You Might Have Been Blown into Pieces!

Chapter 389: You Might Have Been Blown into Pieces!

Norman held the backpack tightly in one hand, and pointed his gun at the masked, red-haired lady in front of him with the other. “Were you the one who fired the shot earlier?” He asked cautiously.

“Do you think there’s a third survivor here?” Jian Qi asked boastfully with what sounded like a chuckle as she looked at Norman.

Norman narrowed his eyes a little as his pupils glimmered cautiously.

Regarding the sudden appearance of this lady, he had no clue as to whether she was a friend or a foe. On top of that, he wondered what her motive was.

“What do you actually want?” Norman asked with a deep voice as he tightened his grip around the gun.

Jian Qi smiled devilishly. “Don’t be nervous. I am only here to see you on behalf of someone I know. Besides, didn’t I help you out when I saw you in danger earlier?”

“See me on behalf of someone?” Norman frowned. “Who are you helping?”

“Of course it’s…” Jian Qi left her sentence hanging.

‘Yeah, who is it?’ She thought to herself.

When Norman noticed that Jian Qi was not going to speak, he thought that she might be coming up with something to trick him. “Are you going to tell me or not? If you play any tricks, I’ll shoot you immediately!” He said in a much colder tone than before.

“Looks like you are exactly like what she told me. You lose your cool too easily!” Jian Qi chuckled.

Despite being pointed at with a gun, Jian Qi did not seem the least bit frightened by Norman’s threat. Her calm composure certainly was a sight to behold.

When Jian Qi saw Norman’s gaze getting colder, she chuckled. “I am only paying you a visit on behalf of your colleague. Why are you so nervous?”

‘Colleague?’

Norman seemed to have hastily gone through a list of possible suspects in his mind as soon as Jian Qi finished her sentence.

“She even mentioned to me that you two once went on a mission together. At the time, you were nearly killed by a gunshot to your head. Fortunately, she opened fire in time to save you. That’s why you were able to survive.” Jian Qi smiled. “Like what happened earlier, if I had not opened fire, you might have been blown into pieces!”

A ghastly facial expression appeared on Norman’s face after he heard what Jian Qi said.

“You… You are…” Norman began to speak. However, he immediately refuted his own statement. “No, you are not!”

‘Everyone saw her body being cremated. Therefore, it can’t be her!’

‘It just can’t be!’

Jian Qi laughed as she looked at Norman. “Not who? It seems like you have already guessed who I am seeing you on behalf of.”

“Who are you to her?” Norman had a solemn expression on his face.

“You don’t need to know who I am to her. I am only here to ask you one question. How did she die?” Jian Qi asked.

As Norman looked at the lady before him, he could clearly detect a sort of coldness and a killing intent even though she was only holding an umbrella.

Since this lady was able to kill the mercenary without being heard or seen, Norman knew that she could have killed him too if she wanted to.

Did she choose not to kill him because she wanted to find out the cause of that person’s death?

“Is my question very difficult to answer?” Jian Qi asked coldly. There was a threatening kind of coldness in her voice.

“She was killed by someone else during a mission. I was not with her on that mission. Therefore, I don’t know about everything that happened during the mission!”

“In that case, who told you about the stuff that you do know?” Jian Qi asked.

“The other special agent she went with on that mission,” Norman answered.

“I want to meet that special agent!” Jian Qi declared her intention directly. “You must assist me!”
