Chapter 520 - 481: Snow City
Chapter 520: Chapter 481: Snow City
After a short high-speed train ride, Li Qian and Wu You arrived in Yunlan City.
It was still quite a distance from the Yunlan City high-speed train station to the Transmission Center.
After they got off, and much to Wu You’s reluctance, Li Qian recalled her to his Beast Taming Space.
After recalling Wu You to his Beast Taming Space, Li Qian hailed another car and went straight to the Yunlan City Transmission Center.
The Transmission Center didn’t look much different from how he’d seen it before.
The biggest difference was the addition of some festive decorations.
With colorful streamers, lanterns, and balloons, it all looked quite celebratory.
Ever since he walked through the main gate of the Transmission Center, Li Qian felt a faint, lingering sensation of being watched.
It was a strange, profound feeling he had never experienced before.
It had only appeared after he formed his contract with Wu You.
Li Qian continued walking, showing no reaction.
He could sense that this faint observation seemed to hold no malicious intent.
’If someone really is secretly watching me,’ he figured, ’it’s probably for my own safety.’
Li Qian knew very well that with the Talent he’d displayed, the Federation would place a high value on him. It was only natural for them to assign forces to protect him in secret.
He showed no sign of anything unusual, simply following the crowd down to the underground Transmission Center.
Perhaps because it was the Spring Festival, a time for visiting friends and family, the Transmission Center was still quite crowded.
Li Qian found the Teleportation Array he needed and quietly stepped inside.
The Transmission Center was crowded, but inside the Teleportation Array itself, there were very few people.
The reason for this was simple: Li Qian’s destination this time was Highland Province.
That’s right, Wu You’s home was in Highland Province.
Highland Province was the least populated province in the entire Dongxia Federation.
At this time, even fewer people were traveling to and from it.
Just as he had on previous trips through the Teleportation Array, Li Qian sat inside the Array and waited quietly.
The teleportation didn’t last long. After just a few short minutes, the misty Energy surrounding the Array began to dissipate.
Li Qian stood up, stepped out of the Array, and followed the sparse stream of people out of the teleportation chamber.
Arriving at the Transmission Center in Snow City, Li Qian saw that there were clearly far fewer people here than in Yunlan City.
Snow City was a rather unique place. Due to its small population and size, although it was a provincial capital, it was only a Level one city.
Like Yunlan City, it hadn’t reached the status of a special-class city.
Li Qian was also quite pleased to find that there was a direct Teleportation Array connecting it with Yunlan City.
This meant he wouldn’t have to make a detour through Nandu City.
Stepping out of the iron tower-shaped Transmission Center, Li Qian gazed at the surroundings. He couldn’t help but let out a long breath, feeling his spirits lift.
The scenery here was completely different from Shazhou City; it had a totally different feel.
The only similarity was that it, too, was filled with a strong, exotic atmosphere.
Snow City’s architecture was unlike any other city Li Qian had seen before.
There were no cloud-piercing skyscrapers, no bustling city streets teeming with traffic, and even the greenery was pitifully scarce. The tallest buildings in sight looked to be only fifteen or sixteen stories high.
The first impression the city gave Li Qian was... white. A clean white, a sacred white, a pure white.
Most of the buildings in Snow City were very distinctive, looking as if they were constructed from ice and snow. Standing among them felt like being in an Ice and Snow Kingdom.
Of course, this was just an optical illusion from a distance. In reality, the material was a type of white marble unique to Highland Province.
When this white marble was used to tile the exterior facades of buildings, it created an immaculate, pristine white visual effect.
Combined with the unique, conical hat-shaped roofs of Snow City’s buildings, it created a rather distinctive aesthetic. As for the weather, which was much colder than in Jiangnan Province, it had no effect on Li Qian whatsoever.
With his physical conditioning, withstanding such a minor chill was a trivial matter.
The sky was high and the land vast, and it felt as if even the sun was a little closer. In that moment, Li Qian felt his perspective broaden and his spirits soar.
He strode out of the Transmission Center’s main gate. Once outside, something occurred to him, and he immediately summoned Wu You.
The Wing Race woman had been "cooped up" in his Beast Taming Space and was probably starting to feel stifled. If he didn’t let her out soon, she would likely throw a fit later.
The moment Li Qian summoned her, a look of excitement flashed in Wu You’s eyes. "Wow, I’m so nostalgic! After all this time, I’m finally back in Highland Province!"
Hearing this, Li Qian tilted his head and gave Wu You a confused look. "You didn’t go home before the New Year? Then what was all that talk at my house about celebrating the New Year..."
Wu You stuck out her tongue, a rare, mischievous look on her face. "Can’t a girl celebrate the New Year away from home?"
Li Qian pursed his lips and shook his head noncommittally. He had no intention of pressing the matter further and decided to change the subject. "Alright, so where are we off to now?"
"Follow me!" Wu You said, walking straight ahead. The Wing Race woman glanced back at Li Qian, motioning with her eyes for him to keep up.
Li Qian gave a faint smile and followed right after her without hesitation.
Leaving the plaza outside the Transmission Center, the two went to the roadside. Wu You tapped on her smart wristband, and moments later, a taxi sped over.
The two took the taxi straight toward Snow City’s Flying Ship Base. With wide roads and little traffic, the taxi made good time.
Looking out the car window at the passing scenery, Li Qian’s curiosity was piqued. He smiled and asked, "By the way, Little Youyou, isn’t your home right here in Snow City?"
"When did I ever say my home was in Snow City? And another thing, don’t call me ’Little Youyou’!" The Wing Race woman’s almond-shaped eyes went wide as she corrected him righteously. "I’m older than you!"
"But Little Youyou, you seemed pretty happy when my mom called you that, didn’t you?" Li Qian teased shamelessly, though he didn’t forget to get back to the point. "So, where exactly is your home?"
"I said don’t call me that, so don’t! You think you’re the same as your mom? There’s a whole generation between you!" Wu You, seeing Li Qian’s cheeky grin, couldn’t help but shoot him a "vicious" glare.
Even while telling him off, she didn’t forget to answer his question—a true master of multitasking her arguments and conversations. "My home is in a small city in Highland Province called Celestial Feather City!"
Up front, the middle-aged female taxi driver glanced in her rearview mirror. Seeing the pair’s "friendly exchange," she couldn’t help but break into a knowing, fond smile.
