Chapter 501 - 463: Ice and Fire Quartet (Part 2)
Chapter 501: Chapter 463: Ice and Fire Quartet (Part 2)
Dean Pan was taking a gamble, and so was Li Qian. As it turned out, they both won. An enemy really was lurking in the shadows. Seeing Haofang’s Sub-Body Robot about to rendezvous with Li Qian and the others, this hidden enemy could finally wait no longer.
"Those brats from the Blood Demon Sect are all useless!" As Haofang’s sub-body drew closer, beating the Mutated Ten Thousand Vines Demon into a steady retreat, the situation subtly shifted. Just as the thin figure was contemplating an immediate withdrawal, a sinister voice suddenly echoed from the darkness.
"We’ve finally caught a big one! It’s Lu Yuansong, the Second Elder of the Black Divine Teachings!" The moment the voice rang out, an irrepressible look of joy appeared on Dean Pan’s face from inside the azure light shield.
After muttering to himself, he fought to control his expression, careful not to give anything away. He remained hidden, waiting for the enemy to walk right into his trap.
At this moment, at this distance, if he attacked directly, Lu Yuansong would still have a chance to escape.
But if he waited a little longer, waited for him to close the distance and initiate the attack himself, there would be no chance of escape.
The wait didn’t last long. About a minute later, a massive figure suddenly descended from the sky, diving straight for the azure light shield.
Li Qian’s concentration was at its peak. He stared intently and soon realized that the swooping dark silhouette was a giant, yellowish-brown toad.
The yellowish-brown toad was hideous. Its entire body was covered in grotesque, terrifying warts, and a person stood atop its head.
The person wore a light gray robe. His figure was slightly stooped and gaunt. He wore a white, stylized dog mask that hid his true face.
This must be the man Dean Pan called the Second Elder of the Black Divine Teachings—Lu Yuansong. He was the big fish they had been hiding for so long to finally catch.
Li Qian narrowed his eyes slightly. Looking at the giant toad descending from the sky, he felt no worry at all. Instead, a faint smile played on his lips.
The very moment the giant toad dove down, the light of the Summoning Array inside the azure shield suddenly flared. A moment later, an incredibly intense wave of Energy surged forth.
As the violent Energy erupted, four massive figures materialized out of thin air, taking up positions in four directions.
When Li Qian saw these four colossal figures, his heart pounded despite having already guessed what they were. These were four Saint Spirit-level Pet Beasts summoned by Dean Pan!
One had to understand that there was a difference between Saint Spirit Level Beast Masters. A Beast Master with one Saint Spirit-level Pet Beast was called a Saint Spirit Level Beast Master, and so was one with a full roster of six Saint Spirit-level Pet Beasts.
But everyone knew the difference between the two was like that between the clouds and the mud. Dean Pan could be considered the latter type of fully-rostered Saint Spirit Level Beast Master. The only Contract Position he had reserved was specifically for a Legendary Level beast.
Looking at these four Saint Spirit-level Pet Beasts, Li Qian couldn’t help but be captivated.
The four Saint Spirit-level Pet Beasts were an Ice Simurgh Bird, a Flame Dragon, and two Pet Beasts he didn’t recognize. One looked like an alpaca but had four horns on its back, and the other resembled a Kun Fish but had massive bat wings.
After the waves of shock and awe subsided, wild joy took over. With such a terrifying lineup, Li Qian was certain that the so-called Second Elder of the Black Divine Teachings, Lu Yuansong, had absolutely no chance of escaping alive.
The appearance of four Saint Spirit-level Pet Beasts meant that Dean Pan was going all out and clearly intended to kill.
According to Dean Pan himself, this was a big fish, and he couldn’t let it get away. For any Cult Organization, an elder who had reached the Saint Spirit Level was a core member of their strength. Eliminating one of them was, if not like severing an arm, at least like cutting off a finger.
Li Qian felt that with a well-laid ambush against an unsuspecting foe, complete with thorough preparations and a clear advantage in Power Level, there was no way Dean Pan’s battle could go wrong. As it turned out, his prediction was correct.
Just as the four Saint Spirit-level Pet Beasts emerged, the Second Elder of the Black Divine Teachings, Lu Yuansong, who was standing on the toad’s head, was scared witless. His face changed drastically as he cried out in alarm, "Holy shit, it’s Pan Bing from Shazhou Beast Taming University!"
"You... what a venomous scheme! To think you’d deliberately set up an ambush for me here!" He didn’t dare hesitate for a second. In this life-or-death moment, he summoned all of his own Pet Beasts as well.
He summoned three more Pet Beasts, but only one of them barely reached the Saint Spirit Level—a vulture-like Pet Beast that radiated a tyrannical aura.
"HAHAHA..."
Hearing Lu Yuansong’s terrified voice, Dean Pan burst out laughing. "Venomous? In front of you vile Cultists, we don’t even deserve to use that word. We’re merely giving you a taste of your own medicine!"
"I’ve been here all along, just waiting for a fool like you to walk into my net." As he spoke, Dean Pan dropped his disguise, revealing his true appearance.
Li Qian also snapped all the white bandages on his body. An expression of hatred appeared on his face as he stared at the enemy surrounded by the four Saint Spirit-level Pet Beasts.
As Li Qian watched with a burning gaze, Dean Pan didn’t hesitate, directly commanding his four Pet Beasts to launch a powerful combination attack.
"Ice and Fire Quartet!" he roared. As his voice fell, four pillars of light—two red and two white—shot up into the sky.
Each of the four light pillars was a hundred meters tall and about ten meters in diameter, trapping the Black Divine Teachings’ Second Elder Lu Yuansong and his summoned Pet Beasts in the center.
The moment the four pillars of light shot skyward, the battles in the distance—both Haofang’s Sub-Body Robot against the Mutated Ten Thousand Vines Demon, and the Sunbird against the dozen or so Overlord-level Pet Beasts—paused for a split second in unison.
As for the fat and thin figures whose identities Lu Yuansong had exposed, they were scared out of their wits the moment they saw this scene.
Facing such a terrifying attack, they lost all will to resist. They made up their minds and began to flee for their lives.
Li Qian’s eyes were sharp and his hands were fast. He took off his Golden Radiance Sword and threw it fiercely. The Golden Radiance Sword rapidly expanded and solidified in mid-air, transforming in the blink of an eye into a Golden Armored Giant General wielding a greatsword.
The Golden Armored Giant General understood Li Qian’s intent. It directly executed a Powerful Slash of Huashan, sending out a golden sword beam that blocked the escape path of the fat and thin figures.
’Since they’re members of the Blood Demon Sect, it’s very likely they’re the ones who planted the Blood Spirit Gu in my mother. Regardless, killing them wouldn’t be a miscarriage of justice.’ Therefore, Li Qian had no intention of letting them get away easily.
Meanwhile, Haofang’s Sub-Body Robot and the Sunbird were also relentlessly pursuing their targets, trying to expand their battle gains.
Of course, these targets were secondary to the overall operation. For this "lure the snake out of its hole" plan, catching the big fish Lu Yuansong was the greatest prize.
Even if a few small fries escaped, it wouldn’t have a major impact. Besides, it wasn’t certain they could escape at all.
The Flying Ship ambush was indeed the most crucial part of this operation, but the means employed were not limited to what was visible on the surface.
Director Zhong had other arrangements in place. There was another encirclement waiting for them on the outskirts of the battlefield. Whether they could break through was another matter entirely.
Of course, even if they managed to break out, given their power, they would likely suffer heavy casualties. Not even one in ten would survive.
In reality, for these Cultists who spent their days hiding in the shadows and causing destruction, their fate was more or less sealed the moment they attacked the Flying Ship.
