Chapter 502 - Black William (Part 2)

Chapter 502: Black William (Part 2)

The Holy See had two methods of treating believers. The first was that a person could become a believer after being baptized, and the Holy See would not care about the purity of their beliefs. The second category only required pure believers. All the bogus believers would be exiled from the capital, so that the light of god would never descend upon these opportunists.

“Sikeqinyans” was the synonym for bogus believers. To obtain money, they could believe in the Lord of Glory, but they could also believe in the Dark Sky Devil. They also could always return to believing in the Goddess of Myers.

The Sikeqinyans were people who were good in learning lessons from the past and then using them to change the status quo. They felt that the average person was the main part of a nation, while the monarch was a symbol for uniting the people. When the Sikeqinyans invented the word “citizens”, they were actually denying sovereignty and theonomy.

Finally, there were some changes to Black William’s expression. Even though the changes were microscopic, Saleen still noticed it. “This person’s heart isn’t all that perfect either.”

“Your Highness, I am very sincere. I have come forth in hopes that we can cooperate.”

“Cooperate? Do you think that possible?” Lex vented her emotions through this sentence. If she had powerful abilities, she would have obliterated the Glorious City, banishing the Holy See to hell.

“Why not? Is it solely because of your father?”

“Of course not. I will state the simplest reason, I despise all of you. Instead of being normal humans, you all chose to believe in some god. That is so pathetic.”

“Having no religion is the biggest sorrow.” Black William could no longer speak to Lex indifferently.

“Ha, since the discussion is falling through, are you thinking of taking action already?” Lex had altered her posture. Her eyes narrowed to slits while being slightly bent. She maintained this expression.

“Why would I take any action? I am kind William. I can follow you. You can’t be in the Purgatory Desert without any motives. Since my men cannot pursue you, I thought that I could stay beside you. No matter what you try to do, I will destroy it. Your Highness, are you having a headache now?” Black William asked smugly.

“Do you have to be so hardworking? Don’t be too proud that you are stronger than me. If I really want to kill you, you will not live either,” Lex said nonchalantly. If Black William landed on the ground, Bain could definitely assassinate him. Lex seemed to be showing signs of weakness by saying this sentence.

“Your Highness, returning to heaven is always a happy thing, there is no use threatening me with it.”

At this point in time, Lex finally understood that the inquisition had thought that she was conjuring some big plan by coming to the Purgatory Desert. They immediately deployed people to disrupt her journey. “This Black William can fly faster than me. Perhaps I have the ability to kill him, but if he doesn’t initiate an attack, I am really helpless against him.”

For an expert, such an action was really shameless.

If Bain was not an assassin, he could still fly in the air and fight. He however had learned the ways of assassination, so his flying ability was inferior to that of Jola’s. Jola could easily fly for hundreds of yards and do battle in the air, but his Sword Aura would be severely depleted. Bain’s offensive power on the ground was exceptionally powerful, he could even kill Jola in a head-on duel, but he could not do anything against a person like Black William, who was good at flying.

If Black William was actually any closer, even the four demons could entrap him. The problem was that this guy was more than one-hundred yards away, as though he was ready to flee anytime.

This person could only be described using one word; mucker.

“How do you want to cooperate?” Lex did not continue provoking Black William. She knew that his team did not follow him. The moment they caught up with him, she would be able launch an assault immediately. The biggest problem a huge army faced in this region was that the various arms could not be deployed simultaneously. If Black William did not participate in battle, he would not be able to protect the lives of his subordinates. If he joined in the fight, Lex could send Bain. Lex did not need to worry anymore because of that.

Lex discovered that not many people from the Holy See were there. Black William did not seem to have any intention of capturing Lex.

“My teacher plans to support Your Highness in building a country. Of course, you will remain a representative of the Grukos family, but it is not for you to oppose the Holy Rock City’s reign.”

“One family, two emperors?” You must be kidding me.”

“Why not? We can divide Sikeqinya or Cloudflow, you don’t have to oppose your family.”

“I have just one question. If a family can have two emperors, does that mean that a plane can have two gods?” Lex’s words were extremely insulting. Saleen possessed divinity, and Lex knew that. This divinity had come from the Goddess of Myers. If she obtained the seeds of the four divine trees, she would also possess divinity no matter which seed she received. To the Holy See, such a presence was intolerable.

“This matter should be left to the future.” Black William’s answer caused Saleen to be astounded.

He was one of six successors to the inquisition, sohe was one of the highest levels of power in the Holy See. Black William had actually said words which were blasphemous to his god. The Lord of Glory once said this, “Other than myself, there can be no other gods.”

Even though Black William did not affirm Lex’s insinuation explicitly, he did not reject it outright either. This was already equivalent to a betrayal of religion. This incident made Saleen recall the few holy masters he had met in the past. They had the purest of beliefs, with the exception of that white deacon called Picasso.

“What do those old men want?” Lex realized that the problem was huge. Black William did not come here by chance, he definitely had some obscure agenda.

“If the inquisition helps you establish a dynasty, the head inquisitors want one of the seeds.”

The moment William’s voice died down, William could feel intense murderous vibes emanating from the two magic war chariots.

Saleen had already released a cloud, he was about to fly out of the chariot and duel with Black William. As long as Saleen was within ten yards of Black William, he would be able to kill him with the Crystal Finger. Black William was at most two grades higher than Saleen, and given the power of the Crystal Finger, Black William would not even be able to resist the blow.

Lex had even taken it a step further. She even wanted to use the power within the God’s Ring to trap Black William.

Black William knew about the existence of the divine trees however. The head inquisitors must have told him that. Even if Black William was killed, the situation would remain unchanged.

Black William subconsciously retreated one-hundred yards. In his heart, he was fearful, he had a fear that his life was about to be forcefully taken away in that moment.

It was no misconception. Such an instinct had already saved his life dozens of times. Even though he was the disciple of the head inquisitors, he also had to carry out assignments personally, and every single mission the inquisition took on was fraught with danger.

After a long while, Lex said, “If the pope is dead, I can consider the proposal.”

Black William composed himself while staring at the two magic war chariots on the ground, as he calculated in his heart, “If this deal doesn’t succeed, can I really harass them until the subordinates of the head inquisitors arrive?”

“He is trying to buy time.” Nailisi saw through his antics.

“I know, but this guy cannot be taken out easily.” Saleen was helpless against Black William.

“The pope is not your enemy. If this is your only demand, I think you will regret it.”

“And why would I regret it?”

“Because the pope is dying soon.” Black William’s words caused Lex to stifle her breath. “The pope is dying? This is considered classified information in the Holy See, so why is Black William having no qualms telling me this?”

“Sorry, I don’t feel like cooperating anymore. If you are willing to follow me, then go ahead. I hope you can continue flying in the desert.” Lex then turned around and instructed the two Black Metal Grand Swordmasters to continue the journey. She suddenly recalled that if Black William followed her into the desert, it would be almost impossible for him to continue flying.

If a black sandstorm of the Purgatory Desert appeared, even a grade-9 sorcerer would be concerned. Black William also had the holy powers of the Lord of Glory. The farther he advanced into the desert, the closer he would be to the temple, and the weaker he would become.

As the Lord of Glory discriminated against other gods, other types of divinity would also reject him. Even though the Goddess of Myers had fallen, her temple would still possess powerful holy power.

The moment Lex finished speaking, she stood up from her seat. Then she flew up and entered Saleen’s magic war chariot.

“If he gets close, we will take action together and kill him.” Lex spoke very softly, but given Black William’s ability, he could definitely hear it.

Indeed, Black William did not dare come close. Even the oracle could not kill Lex personally, Black William was very familiar with the power of god’s punishment. “Lex must be in possession of powerful equipment”. The legacy of the Grukos family might not be as rich as that of the Holy See, but as Emperor Chanake’s daughter, Lex’s skills caused Black William to be very fearful too.

Secretly, Saleen made a decision, “If I manage to be within ten yards from this Black William, I will cast the Crystal Finger immediately and kill this pesky fellow. Even though there will be serious after effects after using the Crystal Finger, it isn’t too difficult to recover from them. If the head inquisitors get personally involved, I will use the badge.”

Since the motive of this expedition had been exposed, there was no point concealing it anymore.

The Crystal Finger was a sorcerer’s spell. Even a sorcerer would need to don Raphael’s Crystal Ring in order to negate backlash from the Crystal Finger. If Saleen were to cast the Crystal Finger, his magic chords would be fully depleted, and he would not be able to use any method to regain it quickly. He would also sustain grave injuries, which would require treatment.

With the power of the Crystal Finger, Saleen could kill a sorcerer in a second. No Magic Shields could withstand this invincible finger. His only regret was that the range of this spell was too small.

Once again, the magic war chariots accelerated, while Black William followed from a great distance away. He maintained a distance of about eight-hundred yards.

“Saleen, use your Water Shield to isolate the chariot,” Lex said urgently.

Saleen did not ask why, he immediately cast a gigantic Water Shield. This spell was his forte. He was most familiar with it, and it provided him with the most sense of security. A bubble expanded, pasting against the interior of the magic war chariot, taking on the shape of a rectangle.

Lex then cast a Mute Enchantment, and said, “We are in big trouble. This time around, we are facing the leaders of the inquisition. Saleen, we have to think of a way to kill Black William. The three head inquisitors will be able to locate us easily otherwise.”
