The trip wasn’t long. When the couple got home, they woke up their two toddlers and got them ready for bed. The two little ones were sleepy, and after rubbing their eyes, they climbed into their small beds and fell asleep.
Seeing that the two children were asleep, Shen Yi leaned in to kiss Qin Jiao. The couple had always been deeply in love, and having been apart for so long, it was only natural they wanted to be intimate.
But Qin Jiao worried the children might wake up, so with a quick turn, she brought Shen Yi into her space.
Although the space had shrunk, it was still very cozy. The drawings Shen Yi had made back in his school days were still on the walls.
The space silently recorded their happiness. Ahem. Now, it would also have to listen to it.
Shen Yi had missed his wife terribly, so he wasn’t quite finished after one round. But just as he was ready for more, Qin Jiao suddenly pushed him away.
Shen Yi looked completely baffled. "Jiao Jiao, what’s wrong?"
"I heard Xiao You crying." Qin Jiao quickly threw on her clothes and walked into the living room. There, she found Xiao You sitting on the sofa, hugging her little blanket and crying her eyes out.
"Mama..." The little girl sounded miserable as she reached out for Qin Jiao. She only calmed down after her mother took her into her arms.
Shen Yi, now dressed, came out of the bedroom and stared at the scene, dumbfounded.
"How... how did she get in here?"
Qin Jiao shook her head. The priority right now was to soothe Xiao You. The poor girl had been sleeping soundly one moment and suddenly found herself in a strange place; she must have been terrified.
Fortunately, this was the second time this had happened. With her mom and dad right there, Xiao You quickly calmed down. Her sleepiness was gone, however, and her big, beautiful eyes darted around, taking everything in.
Needless to say, they couldn’t continue being intimate. The couple wasn’t in a hurry to leave the space, so instead, they started showing Xiao You around.
Shen Yi stroked his chin. "Only Xiao You has ever come in here, but Zijin never has. Do you think it’s possible... that Xiao You inherited the space?"
Qin Jiao looked at her adorable daughter. "Does that mean the space is passed down to daughters, but not sons?"
The couple exchanged a puzzled look. Truthfully, they didn’t really understand much about the space at all. It had appeared when Qin Jiao was reborn, and it had gone through many ups and downs since.
Initially, they had relied heavily on the space. But they never gave up on improving themselves, knowing that it was more important to become stronger and more capable on their own than to depend on it forever.
Still, they considered the space a part of their family, and now, it was their family’s secret hideout.
Xiao You was still just a little girl, so after playing for a little while, she fell asleep again.
The couple took their daughter and left the space.
Watching her daughter sleep soundly, Qin Jiao asked, "Shen Yi, should we tell the children about the space? I have a feeling Xiao You will end up in there again."
"Let’s wait until she’s older," Shen Yi said. "She’s too young right now and isn’t cautious enough. If the wrong person found out, it would put Xiao You in danger."
Qin Jiao nodded in agreement.
It was late, so the couple got ready and soon went to sleep themselves.
Life seemed to return to its usual hustle and bustle. As the end of the year drew near again, both Qin Jiao and Shen Yi were incredibly busy. But they didn’t mind working hard while they were still young; it was all to give their family a better life.
Fortunately, Shen Yi no longer had to travel to the State City. He could handle most of his company’s business remotely.
Qin Jiao reached out to Gu Xu again, asking him to inform her if there were any developments regarding Gao Yuan’s wife.
Of course, Gu Xu agreed without a moment’s hesitation.
