Chapter 685: Chapter 715: Isn’t It Infuriating?
Jiang Xiaoyue put on a tearful, pouty face.
In reality, though, she wasn’t actually angry. She just grabbed her luggage and waited with Qin Jiao and the others for the next arrivals.
Soon, Mr. Du and Little Gu Duo’s flight arrived. ’Du Liya and Beidou were really something else,’ Qin Jiao thought. ’How could they just let an old man and a child travel alone? Were they trying to be completely hands-off?’
Qin Jiao and Shen Yi went up to greet them and helped with their luggage. Little Gu Duo took Qin Jiao’s hand and said, "Sister-in-law, where are Zijin and Xiao You?"
"Oh, them? They’re getting ready for their first day of kindergarten tomorrow. You can come with me to drop them off, how about that?"
"Okay!" Little Gu Duo really liked Qin Jiao, far more than she liked her own brother.
She was always very clingy with Qin Jiao whenever she came to visit.
Shen Yi was always exasperated by this. ’If this weren’t my actual sister, I would’ve tossed her out ages ago.’
In fact, of all the children in their extended family, most were afraid of Shen Yi. Even his own son, Xiao Zijin, was a little scared of his dad.
All in all, the only ones who weren’t afraid of Shen Yi were probably Qin Jiao and their precious daughter, Xiao You.
The group got into the car. Since they had to pick up several people, Shen Yi had driven the minivan.
They dropped Jiang Xiaoyue off at her home first.
Jiang Xiaoyue had also bought a two-bedroom apartment near Qin Jiao and Shen Yi’s place, where she lived with her mother. Her mom used to be busy working at the Youjia Noodle House, but after it was sold, she started working in the kitchen at the Jiuyi Tea Restaurant.
It wasn’t just Jiang Xiaoyue’s family. Unconsciously, a large circle of people had formed around Shen Yi and Qin Jiao.
After dropping off Jiang Xiaoyue, they took Mr. Du and Little Gu Duo home.
With their family constantly growing, their next-door neighbor had happened to be selling their apartment last year. After discussing it with Shen Yi, Qin Jiao bought it.
After renovating it, the entire floor essentially belonged to their family.
Over the years, Qin Jiao and Shen Yi had stockpiled quite a few properties. Besides starting several companies, as people who had been reborn, they knew that the potential for property appreciation in North City was enormous.
Shen Yi had once laughingly told Qin Jiao that if they worked hard for a few more years, they could start thinking about retirement by the time they turned thirty.
Retiring at thirty, financially independent, with more money than they could ever spend.
Isn’t that just infuriating?
Mr. Du was a bit tired from the long journey, but he still rallied his energy to go see the two little ones.
Xiao Zijin and Xiao You were both three years old this year and about to start kindergarten. For children accustomed to being at home, their first reaction to the idea of kindergarten was outright refusal.
The older brother, Zijin, wasn’t so bad. His protest was a silent one, likely because he knew it was futile.
But her younger sister, Xiao You, was a different story. As the pampered favorite of the entire extended family, the little girl was thoroughly spoiled. When Qin Jiao and the others arrived home with Mr. Du, the little girl was standing on the sofa, announcing, "I’m younger than my brother, so he can go to school tomorrow. I’ll go next year!"
Su Yun didn’t have the heart to be harsh with her, so she could only reason, "Xiao You, you’re only younger than your brother by a few minutes."
"A few minutes is still younger! Besides, we look kind of alike. What if we go to school together and the teacher can’t tell us apart?!"
"Well, what if we dress you in different outfits?"
"Nope! What if they still get us mixed up?!"
Su Yun was speechless. She had never been able to win an argument against her own two daughters, and now, she couldn’t even out-argue her granddaughter...
Qin Jiao felt a little sorry for her mom. She cleared her throat, and everyone in the room turned to look at them.
The two children ran over. They greeted Mr. Du first, and then Xiao You threw herself into Gu Duo’s arms.
Xiao You lifted her small, palm-sized face and said, "Sister Duoduo, I missed you so, so much."
