Chapter 675: Chapter 705: Shen Yi Gets Looked Down On by His Daughter
What happened with Shen Feng didn’t affect Qin Jiao at all, and Li Xiaomei seemed to have vanished completely. Later, Qin Jiao heard that Li Xiaomei hadn’t returned to her hometown, but had instead rented a house by herself and was now working at a small clinic.
She used to not even want to be a head nurse, complaining it was too tiring. But now, with her family’s sudden turn of fortune and both her husband and son in prison, Li Xiaomei was back to working as a nurse, albeit at a small clinic.
But now, she had no other choice.
Going back to her hometown was out of the question. Before, her family had long since scorned her for her ambiguous relationship with Shen Zhengfeng while she remained unmarried.
After she married Shen Zhengfeng, she felt completely vindicated and started looking down on everyone from her hometown, acting superior to them all.
And now, she was simply too ashamed to go back.
She was about to turn fifty, but she looked much older than her peers. With no other options, she had to scrape by on her own.
She seemed pitiful.
But she didn’t deserve any sympathy.
After all, she had brought this end upon herself.
If she had been a better wife and mother, showing more patience toward her husband and son instead of flaunting her wealth and cursing people to their faces the moment she had money, things wouldn’t have ended up this way.
Everyone walks their own path in life.
Whether the path hurts, whether it’s comfortable—only your own feet know, and only your own feet bear the consequences.
Qin Jiao’s life returned to its busy yet fulfilling rhythm. Of course, she spent most of her time at home. Even with her mother and aunt helping out, she still wanted to spend as much time as possible with her two children.
The same went for Shen Yi.
The couple were like busy bees, bustling about with their work, but they always made a point to hurry home to their family and cherish the time with their children.
Her older son, Qin Zijin, was very good-natured. No matter how anyone teased him, he would just giggle, his eyes crinkling into a smile. It was an adorable sight that could melt anyone’s heart.
His younger daughter, Qin Ziyou, was much sassier. Once, Shen Yi was trying to make her laugh with a small doll, but the little one just gave her own father a beautiful eye-roll.
Shen Yi looked wounded. "Jiao Jiao, does Xiao You not like me anymore?"
Qin Jiao laughed so hard her stomach ached. "It’s time for Xiao You’s bottle! You’re making her wait for her food. You’re lucky all you got was an eye-roll."
Shen Yi said, "But Zijin wasn’t like that. Tsk, tsk. This little girl has quite a temper. I love it, though. Ahaha."
’Okay then,’ Qin Jiao realized Shen Yi was well on his way to becoming a father who ridiculously doted on his daughter.
When the two of them were home, they would have Su Yun and Qin Na take a break. Qin Na only came over occasionally, but Su Yun was there often.
But even on her breaks, Su Yun didn’t stay idle. She would hurry back to her own apartment in the neighboring complex to tidy up.
Fortunately, only Qin Zhonghui and Xiao Shi were at home now, and neither of them gave her much to worry about.
Qin Zhonghui was busy with the restaurant, and sometimes, when he worked late, he would even sleep there.
Xiao Shi was even less of a concern. Her days were a simple routine of going to school and coming home.
However, after what had nearly happened to Qin Jiao, Xiao Shi went to Ji Changxing and said she wanted to learn some self-defense.
She had taken lessons before, but what she learned wasn’t practical at all.
She wanted to learn something more practical, something with real stopping power.
Ji Changxing thought for a moment and introduced Xiao Shi to Gu Xu, the younger brother of one of his old army buddies. The young man had studied Sanda and had become a police officer after leaving the service.
He also happened to live not too far from Xiao Shi’s home.
So, Xiao Shi’s days became busy as well. The young girl was driven by a fierce determination, wishing she could grow up in an instant and become an all-powerful woman, able to protect her family.
