Chapter 621 - 651: The Truth
Chapter 621: Chapter 651: The Truth
"That day, he and my dad got into an argument. He wanted my dad’s house, but Dad refused, so they started fighting. Then Wang Dagang told my mom to hit my dad. My mom wouldn’t do it, so he slapped her across the face. The three of them ended up in a chaotic brawl."
Qin Tao didn’t want to recall what happened that day. At the time, he’d been sitting in a corner gnawing on a chicken leg, a bottle of beer beside him.
As far as he was concerned, the three of them were just fighting over money.
Even though his own parents were involved, he’d known for years that they were selfish, lazy people—and that he was, too.
People like them only cared about their own comfort and happiness, ignoring everything else.
So, even when he saw Wang Dagang rip out a clump of Feng Lan’s hair and kick Qin Jiqun to the ground, Qin Tao didn’t move.
Wang Dagang had worked on construction sites with a foreman in his younger days. He was strong, and since he’d been drinking, he easily overpowered the lazy, self-indulgent couple.
Feng Lan, in particular, had been beaten by Wang Dagang several times before and was terrified of him. She just cowered in a corner, crying and covering her face.
Qin Jiqun was sprawled on the ground, groaning in pain.
Wang Dagang’s eyes were bloodshot. He planted a foot on Qin Jiqun’s neck and snarled, "Where did you hide the bank book from the house sale? Give it to me, or I’ll kill you right now, believe it or not!"
Qin Jiqun was in so much pain he couldn’t breathe.
It was as if Qin Tao were watching a farce. He kept gnawing on his chicken leg and even picked up the nearby bottle to take a swig of beer.
Then, at that moment, he heard Qin Jiqun say in a faint, reedy voice, "The money... no... I can’t give it to you... That’s... that’s for Xiao Tao, for when he grows up and gets married..."
In that instant, hearing those words, Qin Tao could no longer stand by and do nothing.
Qin Tao looked at Qin Jiao and the others, gritted his teeth, and continued, "I charged over and slammed into Wang Dagang. He slapped me so hard I saw stars. I fell to the ground, and just then, I saw my dad’s eyes rolling back in his head from the pressure of his foot. I looked up and saw the beer bottle. So I... I smashed it over Wang Dagang’s head."
After getting hit, Wang Dagang let out a curse, but then he suddenly collapsed.
Qin Jiqun, who had been on the verge of death moments before with lips pale as paper, had just managed to recover. He hugged his son, Xiao Tao, filled with the terror of having narrowly escaped with his life.
But then, Feng Lan suddenly started wailing, "He’s dead! He’s dead!" The three of them exchanged a look and ultimately decided to grab their valuables and flee.
When Old Mrs. Qin heard the truth, she was utterly stunned. She collapsed onto the sofa, looking as if she were questioning her very existence.
Everyone was thunderstruck. So *that* was what really happened?
Qin Tao nervously clutched the hem of Qin Jiao’s shirt. "Sis, I’m begging you, please help me figure something out! Save my dad! I was the one who killed him, not him!"
"Then do you dare go to the police and turn yourself in?"
"I... in that case... will I die?"
He was just a teenager, after all. He’d done a lot of shitty things, but some things still terrified him.
When it came down to it, Qin Tao was really just a spoiled kid.
But murder was something that would undoubtedly be punished by law.
Qin Jiao looked at him and said quietly, "If you want to save your dad, your only option is to turn yourself in. When that happens, I’ll help you find a good lawyer. You’re a minor, so you won’t get the death penalty. But you will definitely spend a few years in a juvenile detention center for rehabilitation."
