When Shen Yi got home from work that evening, Qin Jiao told him about it. "I’m not too worried about the others," she said with a sigh, "but Grandma... Old Mrs. Qin is incredibly upset. If Qin Jiqun really did kill someone and gets sentenced, I think it will be a huge blow to her."
Although Old Mrs. Qin wasn’t as overbearing as Mr. Qin had been, her adoration for her youngest son was undeniable.
Shen Yi said, "Beidou has some connections. I’ll talk to someone tomorrow and see what’s really going on."

Shen Yi was very reliable. By noon the next day, he knew the whole story.
It turned out that Feng Lan had taken the money from the apartment sale and, with her son Xiao Tao in tow, immediately started a relationship with a man in his thirties.
The man had worked out of town before and seemed worldly. He’d sweet-talked Feng Lan and completely charmed her. In reality, the two were just living together for convenience and had never legally married.
Later, when the money ran out, the man tried to leave Feng Lan. She begged him to stay, but whenever he got angry, he would hit her and Xiao Tao.
After that, the man heard that Feng Lan’s ex-husband, Qin Jiqun, still had money, so he urged her to go and swindle it out of him.
Feng Lan was afraid of being beaten, so she did as he said. But Qin Jiqun was no fool and, of course, refused. He was selfish by nature; he barely had enough money for himself, so why would he give it to someone else?

The man Feng Lan was with died at the scene, while Feng Lan, Qin Jiqun, and Xiao Tao all vanished.
After hearing the story, Qin Jiao said, "So, you’re saying the murderer is one of those three."
"Are you saying Xiao Tao could be the killer?"
"Yeah. That kid is really reckless. He’s been a troublemaker since he was little, always getting into fights. Of course, any of the three of them could be responsible. We’ll have to find them to learn the truth."
Shen Yi asked, "Jiao Jiao, do you need me to have my contacts do anything else?"

Qin Jiao truly hoped that Qin Jiqun and the others would stay out of their lives, but sometimes, things just don’t go as planned.
One day, the weather was nice, and Old Mrs. Qin went to the market with her daughter, Qin Na. Just as they got back to their residential complex, Qin Na got a call. She had to go to the kindergarten—apparently, Xiao Yu had gotten into a fight, and it sounded complicated.
