Chapter 604: Chapter 634: A Formal Apology
Mrs. Liu snorted. "I don’t care who she is."
"She’s Qin Shi’s sister—the one you saw at school today!"
Mrs. Liu’s chopsticks clattered to the floor.
Beside her, Father Liu’s interest was piqued. "What’s going on?"
"I only found out by chance. Qin Shi never talks about it at school. One of my classmates saw her sister filming that commercial, and we later found out that her sister is the one who opened that clothing company..."
Father Liu was astounded. "Didn’t you just say she only graduated from college? To be so young and accomplished..."
Mrs. Liu was so shocked she was speechless. "Is that true?"
"Of course it’s true! It’s not like it’s a secret. You can find out just by asking around a bit."
Mrs. Liu took the matter to heart and actually went to ask around. She found out that the clothing company was jointly owned by Qin Jiao and her husband, but he had made her the company’s legal representative and general manager.
Mrs. Liu immediately bought some delicious pastries and had her son take them to school for Qin Shi.
She said, a bit awkwardly, "It’s fine that you like her, but don’t harass her. The girl doesn’t want to be in a relationship right now; she just wants to focus on her studies. If it happens again—if she beats you up again—I’m not getting involved. Also, take these pastries to her and apologize on my behalf. My attitude the other day was terrible."
Liu Zhao was shocked. It was the first time he had ever seen his mother act this way. But he happily took the pastries, slung his backpack over his shoulder, and left for school.
A few minutes later, Qin Shi frowned slightly as she looked at the boy standing before her, a goofy smile plastered on his face.
"Looking for another beating?"
"No, no! My mom felt bad about her attitude the other day. This is an apology for your sister and your mom. It’s a peace offering, you have to accept it! She waited in a long line just to buy these. They’re the best pastries in the entire old district!"
Liu Zhao set down the pastries and bolted.
Qin Shi frowned slightly.
When she got home from school that evening, Qin Jiao was, unsurprisingly, still at their parents’ house, mooching a free meal.
Their two homes were close, so whenever Shen Yi was busy and Qin Jiao didn’t feel like cooking for herself, she would come over. After all, her mom would always make her plenty of tasty dishes.
Qin Jiao saw the pretty box in Xiao Shi’s hands. "Hey, what’s this?" she asked.
Xiao Shi replied, "It’s from that guy I beat up. He said it was an apology for you and Mom, for his mother’s bad attitude the other day. It’s a peace offering."
Qin Jiao took a look. It was indeed pastries from that famous old shop in the area, which were notoriously hard to buy. This showed their apology was quite sincere.
It was mainly because they had been researching all sorts of pastries recently, so they were paying special attention to things like this.
Qin Jiao picked up a piece of osmanthus cake and said as she nibbled on it, "So, has that kid bothered you again since then?"
"Sis, are you telling me I shouldn’t beat him up anymore?"
"No, no, no. If he’s being a pest, you should still beat him up. But you can’t seriously injure him—you have to avoid any vital spots. Oh, and try not to hit him in the face."
Xiao Shi nodded with a very serious expression.
Su Yun, who was ladling soup nearby, was speechless. ’What am I going to do? It seems both my daughters are becoming more and more crooked.’
She didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. "Xiao Jiao, don’t be a bad influence on your sister."
Qin Jiao said nonchalantly, "There’s nothing wrong with girls being a bit tougher and a bit more assertive out in the world. People take advantage of the kind. If you’re too much of a pushover, someone will definitely walk all over you."
She turned to Xiao Shi. "If anything like this happens again, you go right ahead and beat them up. Your big sis has got your back, no matter what! Just remember what I told you: avoid vital spots, and don’t cause any permanent damage. Of course, if the other person is truly vicious, then just do whatever it takes to protect yourself. No matter the consequences, I’ll be there to handle it for you!"
