Chapter 588: Chapter 618: Trouble at the Noodle Restaurant
If it weren’t for the dowry and his parents pressuring him to get married, Lu Jiuan never would have married Meng Lanlan after they were set up.
However, the stubborn image of another woman was etched in Lu Jiuan’s heart. He didn’t love Meng Lanlan, which was why he’d been putting off legally registering their marriage.
Meng Lanlan’s family was certainly well-off, but what they could offer him was far too limited.
’If only he could be as rich as that Qin Jiao.’
’Then, he could get his hands on that secret recipe directly!’
’Unfortunately, that Qin Jiao was already married, and even pregnant...’
Lu Jiuan narrowed his eyes. He had finally thought of a good way to put Youjia Noodle House to the test!

One day, Qin Jiao was at Jiu Yi reviewing the previous quarter’s financial reports when her phone suddenly rang. It was her mother, Su Yun, and her voice was thick with tears.
"Xiao Jiao, something’s happened at the noodle house!"
"Mom, calm down. Tell me exactly what happened. I’m on my way back now."
Perhaps it was her daughter’s calm voice, but Su Yun collected herself slightly. She said, "Someone reported us. They claimed we have a food safety problem, and now the authorities are here to inspect the restaurant..."
’So that’s what this is about.’ Qin Jiao became even calmer. She said, "We’ve always followed the health and safety standards, so it’s nothing serious. Mom, you and Dad should cooperate with the officials for now. I’m heading over right away."
"Okay."
Qin Jiao briefed Chen Sheng, asking him to look after the company and call her if anything came up. Then she got up and drove toward Youjia Noodle House.
It was the middle of the day, when plenty of students would normally be coming in for lunch. But because of the surprise inspection, the restaurant was temporarily closed.
In truth, just being inspected was enough to have a major impact on a restaurant’s reputation.
When Qin Jiao arrived, a student recognized her. "Senior," he said, "what’s going on with your family’s noodle house?"
"It’s nothing serious. Restaurants get regular check-ups, so this isn’t a big deal. We won’t be able to open for lunch today, though. We have to think of everyone’s safety, after all. Once we pass the inspection and reopen, you’ll all have more peace of mind, right?"
"But we all feel like there’s nothing wrong with your restaurant."
"Didn’t you hear what our senior said? It’s just a routine inspection."
"Oh, okay. We’ll come back to eat tomorrow then."
Some of the students who had been watching slowly dispersed to find other places to eat. They had afternoon classes and couldn’t afford to be late.
Meanwhile, Qin Jiao made her way inside. Sure enough, she saw several health inspectors. She politely approached the one leading the team to get a clear picture of the situation.
The man’s attitude was reasonably polite. "We received a report," he said. "It claimed there’s an issue with your ingredients—that they’re addictive. So we’re here to conduct a quality inspection."
’Addictive?’
Qin Jiao had a feeling this might be related to her proposal to turn the restaurant into a chain. But she kept her composure and explained, "It’s just that my parents are excellent cooks. The local students and residents can’t stop praising the food. Was the report made anonymously?"
"Yes. We cannot disclose the informant’s information."
"I understand that. I just think someone’s probably jealous because our business is doing so well. However, once your inspection is complete and you find no issues, could you provide us with a health certificate or some kind of official notice? We’ll post it on our front door. That way, we can show the person who reported us not to bother us with this again, and to not waste your time either."
The team leader’s surname was Liu. Clerk Liu looked at Qin Jiao, who seemed about the same age as his own younger sister, and asked with great interest, "Are you that certain your family’s restaurant is in the clear?"
