Apocalypse Rebirth: Crazy from Day One

Chapter 564 - 573: Mr. Magnus Arrives

Chapter 564: Chapter 573: Mr. Magnus Arrives

’The Master seems to be in such a good mood. Something good must have happened.’

Thinking of everything that had happened recently, his heart had been heavy.

But seeing the Master like this, his own gloomy mood finally lifted a little.

’Perhaps the Master will have some good news for us this time.’

However, seeing her exhausted expression, he suppressed his eagerness and didn’t ask any questions. He simply turned and went to carry out her instructions.

’She looked so tired, as if she hadn’t slept in days. I have no idea what the Master was doing inside the villa.’

But he knew one thing for sure: with the situation outside so critical, and knowing the Master’s personality, she definitely wouldn’t have been idly enjoying herself. She must have been working on a solution.

And now that she had emerged, she had likely found one.

After giving Stephen Lawrence his instructions, Stella Sterling returned to her villa.

While Stephen Lawrence was making preparations, she decided to take a long bath and unwind.

She had been so exhausted lately.

She hadn’t rested properly this whole time. Aside from the bare minimum needed for eating and sleeping, she had spent every other moment researching those medical texts.

’I haven’t showered in over half a month. It’s a good thing I was in the space, where it isn’t as hot as it is outside. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have been able to stand it.’

But even though the space wasn’t as hot as the outside, after more than half a month without showering, Stella Sterling could smell a distinct funk on herself.

’How long has it been since I’ve been in such a sorry state? Not since my last life.’

In this life, no matter how severe the apocalypse became, she had always kept herself clean and tidy.

She had been too engrossed in her work before to notice, but now that she had a free moment, Stella Sterling found it unbearable.

She washed herself again and again until she was certain she was clean, then changed into fresh clothes and stepped out.

Just then, Stephen Lawrence walked in carrying a tray of freshly cooked food. The steaming meal whetted Stella Sterling’s appetite, and her mood improved immensely.

"Tell me, what’s the situation outside been like lately?"

Stella Sterling asked Stephen Lawrence as she ate.

Stephen Lawrence gathered his thoughts and proceeded to tell Stella Sterling everything that had happened outside while she had been gone.

Upon hearing about the situation outside, Stella Sterling stopped eating.

’So many things have already changed in this life. And as time went on, the deviations were growing more and more significant.’

’In my past life, the mutation had also caused great turmoil and many deaths, but the situation hadn’t been nearly as severe as it was this time around.’

’Several bases had even fallen.’

After a moment, she lowered her head and resumed eating. "Go on."

By the time Stella Sterling finished her meal, she had a basic grasp of the situation outside.

She said to Stephen Lawrence, "Have someone go to Meridia Base and inform Gregory Magnus. Tell him I’ve made a major discovery and that he needs to come here."

’Mr. Magnus’s medical achievements are far greater than my own. I might be better when it comes to treating external wounds, but in every other respect, Mr. Magnus is much more capable.’

Stephen Lawrence froze for a second before nodding and hurrying away to pass on the message.

At that moment, his heart was pounding with excitement.

’They had been in frequent contact with Meridia Base recently, so he knew who Mr. Magnus was. In fact, the man had asked about the Master several times before.’

’He was, of course, aware that the Master and Mr. Magnus from Meridia Base had been researching a drug to counter the mutation.’

’And now the Master was saying she’d made a major discovery—it had to be related to that.’

’Sure enough, the Master hadn’t been doing nothing while shut away in her villa all this time.’

After Stephen Lawrence left, Stella Sterling flicked her wrist, and a green vine materialized in her hand.

It was one of the vines that had attacked them in the mountains during her last trip to find Professor Lawrence.

The vines had been incredibly bizarre, but Stella Sterling had managed to take a piece when she left, cultivating it in her personal space.

At the time, she had planned to cultivate it as a potential weapon, thinking it might have some unexpected uses against her enemies.

She never expected that before she could turn it into a weapon, it would become a medicinal ingredient.

’I’ve spent all this time poring over ancient medical texts, and I finally found a short passage describing a condition remarkably similar to that of the mutated people.’

’That ancient text mentioned a medicinal ingredient that was exceptionally effective against this very condition.’

However, the entry in the text was brief and had no illustrations, so Stella Sterling wasn’t certain which specific ingredient it was.

But based on the description, after comparing it for a long time, she found it to be remarkably similar to the vine she had brought back.

Of course, this was all just a guess for now. The specifics would have to be confirmed through experimentation.

While Stephen Lawrence was sending for Mr. Magnus, Stella Sterling did not remain idle. She took a small segment of the vine and used her equipment to extract some of its components.

She had just placed the extract in a vial when Mr. Magnus’s excited voice boomed from outside. "Sterling! I heard you’ve made a major discovery! Is it true? Quickly, let me see!"

The man practically burst into the room. Stephen Lawrence, trailing behind him, had been unable to hold him back and could only watch as he charged in.

Stephen Lawrence looked at Stella Sterling apologetically. "Master, my apologies. I really couldn’t stop him!"

Stella Sterling waved her hand. "It’s fine. You may go."

Seeing that the Master wasn’t blaming him, Stephen Lawrence left, relieved.

Before he left, he glanced at the two people in the villa, his eyes filled with hope.

’I hope the Master and he can really find a way to deal with this mutant infection.’

Otherwise...

Stephen Lawrence had never considered himself a good person. Before, he was just an ordinary man, but after the apocalypse came, he became incredibly selfish.

’Otherwise, he wouldn’t have tried to take advantage of the Master at the very beginning.’

’Even when he first started following her, his intentions weren’t pure. He was just looking to ride her coattails.’

’But later, he had genuinely pledged his loyalty to the Master. Then he became the chief steward of Caeluna Base. He no longer had to resort to any means necessary just to survive, so he no longer had to be a bad person.’

But he had never considered himself a kind-hearted man.

Yet, looking at the situation outside, for the first time in his life, he desperately hoped that a savior would truly emerge to end all this suffering.
