Apocalypse Rebirth: Crazy from Day One

Chapter 492 - 501: Method of Handling

Chapter 492: Chapter 501: Method of Handling

’Hunter Night seems pretty reasonable.’

After some thought, Stella Sterling decided to give him a piece of advice.

’It’s unnecessary to take everything. There’s no need to offend those people. Otherwise, it wouldn’t do the Three Tigers Corps any good after I eventually leave.’

’But at a time like this, you can’t let others think you’re a pushover.’

’When you clearly have the upper hand, you have to act like it.’

’If you’re still as accommodating as before, people will just look down on you even more.’

Hunter Night froze for a second or two when he heard her words, but then he understood what Stella Sterling meant.

He let out a low, pleased chuckle. "Miss Sterling is right. I understand!"

Stella Sterling tilted her head but said no more. She was confident Hunter Night would understand.

After all, the man had managed to lead his people and make a name for himself here in Sanctyr Base. He was clearly capable, so she didn’t need to worry too much.

Hunter Night turned to look at Mutt and the others. He saw their expressions were a mixture of relief and veiled threats. He chuckled softly and lowered his voice. "Of course we’ll divide these supplies, but not like that!"

As soon as he spoke, the smiles on Mutt’s and the others’ faces stiffened. From Hunter Night’s tone, they knew this wouldn’t be easy.

They glanced at Stella Sterling, who stood to the side, and sighed in resignation. Turning back to Hunter Night, they adopted a more humble posture. "Then how do you want to split it? As long as it isn’t too outrageous, we won’t object."

They had been outplayed today. They never expected this woman to be so formidable.

None of their men were hurt yet, but what happened to Fat Snake served as a stark warning.

They were terrified that one wrong move would land them in the same situation as Fat Snake.

So, even though they were unhappy with Hunter Night’s statement, they could only swallow their pride and endure.

Besides, when they had proposed an even split, they had already built in some negotiating room and were prepared for this outcome.

After all, the Three Tigers Corps had the upper hand now. There was no way they would agree to an even split. The proposal was merely an opening gambit, leaving room for both sides to negotiate.

They watched Hunter Night intently, hoping he wouldn’t be too greedy. As long as his demands weren’t completely unreasonable, they would agree just to stay alive.

Hunter Night seemed not to notice their expressions and continued, "Our people discovered this place, and we dug the passage down here. By rights, everything here should belong to the Three Tigers Corps!"

The moment he said that, a hush fell over the group.

Even the two Three Tigers Corps members beside Hunter Night stared at their leader in disbelief.

Mutt and his men were even more enraged.

’This Hunter Night is so damn greedy!’

’This is going too far! He actually wants to take everything for himself? Even we hadn’t considered taking it all.’

For a moment, Mutt and the other leader exchanged a look.

’If Hunter Night is really going to be this ruthless today and take everything for himself...’

’...with that powerful woman here, there’s truly nothing we can do to stop him.’

They didn’t want to give up the supplies, but they didn’t want to die here either.

If it came down to it, their two groups would have no choice but to retreat.

They would have to give up the supplies for now. ’When we retreat, the Three Tigers Corps surely won’t try to stop us, right?’

As for the supplies here... hmph. ’We’ll just see if the Three Tigers Corps can hold onto them.’

’No matter how powerful that woman is, she can’t fend off an encirclement. We’ll go back and join forces with Fat Snake’s Family...’

’...and these supplies will be ours in the end.’

Of course, they didn’t want things to go that far. They had no real grudge against the Three Tigers Corps, and now their opponent had such a powerful individual on their side. If possible, they still preferred to resolve this peacefully.

But if Hunter Night insisted on being this ruthless, they would be forced to retaliate. They’d have no other choice.

Stella Sterling glanced at Hunter Night. ’I told him to be firm, but not this extreme.’

However, Stella’s face held a smile. She wasn’t worried; in fact, she looked rather impressed.

’Hunter Night doesn’t seem stupid enough to push things to the breaking point. And from the sound of it, he’s not finished speaking.’

Sure enough, in the next moment, under everyone’s gaze, Hunter Night suddenly shook his head. "But in this apocalypse, life isn’t easy for any of us. We’re all just desperate people trying to survive. Besides, our factions are neighbors. I don’t want to push things to the extreme either."

Hearing this, Mutt and the other leader let out a sigh of relief. They knew there was still room to negotiate.

And they wouldn’t have to come to blows with the Three Tigers Corps.

So they looked at Hunter Night, waiting for him to continue.

"You’re right about one thing. We already took a portion before, so we won’t take much more. I can agree to split the remaining food evenly with you. But when it comes to the water, we want an extra share. The Three Tigers Corps will take forty percent of the water. You two can split the other sixty percent!"

Hunter Night thought for a moment before speaking. This way, no matter how they split it, the Three Tigers Corps would come out with more.

After all, they had already taken a share of the food. Splitting the rest evenly meant they wouldn’t lose out.

And for Mutt and the others, this proposal would seem more than fair.

As for the water, however, he wanted more. In this blistering heat, water was sometimes more important than food.

Besides, he wasn’t asking for that much more—only ten percent extra.

Hearing this, Mutt and the other leader let out a huge, internal sigh of relief.

Hunter Night’s proposal was indeed fair and just, not at all unreasonable.

It was much better than they had dared to hope.

They had expected Hunter Night to use this opportunity to make a killing.

They had already resigned themselves to the fact that as long as Hunter Night wasn’t too greedy—as long as he left them with something so they wouldn’t leave empty-handed and could save a little face—they would agree and let the matter drop.

They never imagined the outcome would be so much better than they expected.

He was actually willing to split the food evenly, and he was only asking for ten percent more of the water. In reality, the shares between the three groups wouldn’t be that different.

His way of handling it was truly a surprise.

They recalled Hunter Night’s earlier words, and for a moment, they were genuinely moved.
