Apocalypse Rebirth: Crazy from Day One

Chapter 442 - 452: The Submission of the People of Sanctyr Base

Chapter 442: Chapter 452: The Submission of the People of Sanctyr Base

They all stared at the scene in shock. Then, it dawned on them—this must have been the cause of the explosion they had just heard.

So, it wasn’t an attack on Sanctyr Base from the outside? It was an internal explosion?

What in the world was going on?

Many people stared in that direction, their faces blank with confusion, then exchanged glances with those next to them. No one understood what had just happened.

But the one thing they did know was that things weren’t as they had imagined. There was no outside attack.

For a moment, everyone quieted down, and their fear subsided. The shock, however, was still hard to shake.

Then, they saw many of the base’s leaders, including Miss Larkin.

She was the second most powerful person in the entire base.

’Since she’s here, everything should be fine, right?’

But then they noticed that none of the leaders looked pleased. In fact, their expressions were grim.

Even many members of the base’s armed forces were kneeling in one direction.

They exchanged confused glances, not understanding why. ’Could it be because they saw Boss Saint?’

But that didn’t make sense. Even if they saw Boss Saint, they wouldn’t just stay kneeling on the ground without getting up.

’Did they do something wrong?’

Soon, they saw where the men were kneeling. They were facing a field of rubble and debris, where a single woman stood.

The expression on her face was completely nonchalant.

They had never seen this person before. She was a complete stranger. Was she a new member of the base, or someone else?

But why were men from their armed forces kneeling to this woman? They couldn’t wrap their heads around it.

Just then, a man of some status walked up to Selene Larkin and asked uncertainly, "Ms. Larkin, what’s going on? Was... was this our doing?"

Selene Larkin was already fuming, and the sight of all these people only stoked her rage.

The man’s approach was the last straw. SMACK! She slapped him across the face. "This is none of your business."

"Can’t you see what a mess this is? Get them to go back! Tell everyone in the base that nothing happened."

Being seen like this by so many people felt like being publicly slapped in the face herself.

She was absolutely seething.

The man she had struck, however, looked completely bewildered, a flash of anger crossing his eyes.

But he quickly suppressed it. After cursing Selene Larkin a few times in his head, he managed to calm himself down.

But when Selene Larkin saw him just standing there, unresponsive, she thought of all the others who had ignored her authority. She assumed this man was now defying her too.

Her anger flared even higher. "Did you not hear me?" she screeched. "This has nothing to do with you! Now take some men, get this crowd under control, and don’t let anyone else come here!"

As she spoke, she kicked him.

She knew that the commotion from using artillery on Stella Sterling was bound to attract attention.

At the time, she had been certain the woman would die. As long as Stella died, a little commotion didn’t matter.

She figured she could have her people suppress any unrest later and offer a simple explanation.

As for the damages, while they were a hassle, killing Stella Sterling would have made it all worthwhile.

But she never imagined that Stella Sterling would survive. That she could survive something like that.

And so, with all these people witnessing the scene, all she felt was humiliation.

It felt like Stella Sterling had slapped her across the face yet again, and she was furious.

She knew, of course, that none of this was the fault of the man standing before her.

"Yes, yes, I’ll get right on it."

The man nodded repeatedly, silently cursing her. ’She’s on a warpath! What does any of this have to do with me?’

But given her status, he didn’t dare to offend her. He could only swallow his anger, then turn and unleash it on the crowd.

"What are you all running around for?! Even if the base were under attack, you’re residents here! You should stand with us! You fall apart at the first sign of trouble! What’s the point of the base supporting you all this time? Now get back, all of you!"

As he roared, he drew his gun, looking like he was ready to shoot anyone who didn’t obey.

He clearly didn’t dare vent his anger on Selene Larkin, so he took it out on the civilians instead.

Seeing this, the Sanctyr Base residents who had rushed to the scene didn’t dare disobey.

They all began to turn back. Besides, now that they had seen the situation and knew it wasn’t what they’d feared, they felt a sense of relief.

As for the man pointing a gun at them, they were angry but didn’t dare to speak up. One by one, they silently turned and left.

Seeing this, Selene Larkin’s expression didn’t improve in the slightest. Her face remained dark.

She looked at the woman in the distance. Seeing the mocking amusement on her face, Selene felt as if she were being openly ridiculed, and it churned her stomach.

Just then, another set of footsteps approached from not far away.

She couldn’t believe it. After everything she’d just said, that man had failed already and was letting more people approach.

’Looks like after this is over, I’ll have to tell Boss Saint that man is incompetent.’

She whipped her head around, her face a mask of fury. "If you don’t want to die, get out of here!"

She didn’t want more people to know about this. The more who knew, the greater her humiliation would be.

Besides, she was also afraid. This woman’s abilities were unsettlingly strange. She had already managed to turn several people against them. If more people came and the woman said something else, what if they were deceived too?

What if she ended up turning the entire base against them? That would be a disaster!

She turned and roared, her face contorted with rage. But when she saw who it was, her expression froze, twisting into one of disbelief. Her voice stuttered, "Boss... what are you—why are you here!?"

"Selene Larkin, what in the world is going on? And why are you so worked up?"

Having been inexplicably yelled at by Selene Larkin, Miles Sanctus was baffled and audibly displeased.

And when he took in the scene before him, his expression turned utterly grim. "You’d better give me a good explanation for what happened here today!"
