Apocalypse Rebirth: Crazy from Day One

Chapter 419 - 429: The People from Sanctyr Base Have Come

Chapter 419: Chapter 429: The People from Sanctyr Base Have Come

Tonight was a joyous occasion for everyone, from Stella Sterling to Felix Lawrence and his men.

Except for Stella Sterling and Andrew Shaw, no one here had tasted meat in a very long time. Today, they were even happier than if it were New Year’s.

Not only did they cook the pork in a variety of ways, but they had also prepared quite a bit of entertainment.

There was singing and dancing, and every face shone with excitement.

The only downside was that every time someone did something, they would stop to thank Stella Sterling, and then the whole crowd would cheer and holler along.

Stella Sterling was thick-skinned, but even she felt a bit mortified at that moment.

So, after spending a little more time with everyone, she took her two large pork legs and returned to her room.

’If I stay out there, they’ll just keep thanking me,’ she thought. ’It makes me uncomfortable, and they can’t relax and enjoy themselves properly.’

’It’s much better to enjoy my pork legs alone in my room.’

’Besides, with my appetite, if I lose control for even a second, the dozens of pounds of pork they prepared tonight might not be enough for everyone else.’

Stella Sterling shook her head and went back into her room.

She gnawed on her two large pork legs while gazing at the moonlight outside, occasionally lost in thought, only to snap out of it and resume chewing on the food in her hands.

’This is a nice atmosphere, but it would be even better if my friends were here.’

Many faces flashed through Stella Sterling’s mind, but her thoughts eventually settled on one person.

Then, she shook her head...

「A few days passed.」

One day, one of Felix Lawrence’s men came running back in a panic.

"Lawrence! Lawrence, this is bad! I saw people from Sanctyr Base heading this way!"

The past few days had been going very well for Felix Lawrence. He had been busy making preparations.

If Miss Sterling ended up fighting with the people from Sanctyr Base, he had to seize the opportunity. He would not only kill River Larkin to get his revenge but also expand his own group’s strength.

Life felt very fulfilling. And he wasn’t sure if it was because of the meat he ate that night, but he felt a surge of energy throughout his body, as if he had a limitless supply of strength.

It almost made him forget they still had a major problem to deal with.

The expression on his face changed, and he went to find Stella Sterling.

Stella Sterling nodded. "I know."

Felix Lawrence looked at her with concern. "Miss Sterling, are you sure you can handle this alone? If it comes down to it, we can take care of these few guys first, and then we’ll just move somewhere else!"

As he spoke, a ruthless glint flashed in Felix Lawrence’s eyes.

His man had said only a few people were coming. It would be simple to capture and eliminate them, then they could immediately pack up and clear out.

The people from Sanctyr Base wouldn’t even know who did it. And once they moved to a new location, what could Sanctyr Base possibly do to them?

Anything was better than letting Miss Sterling face this alone.

Hearing his words, Stella Sterling smiled. "Don’t worry. No need to go to all that trouble."

"Besides, I’ve been getting bored staying here. I was just looking for something to do. Don’t you get in my way."

Stella Sterling stood up and started walking out. Felix Lawrence watched her, confused.

Miss Sterling had always said she had a way to deal with them, but she’d never told him what that way was!

"Miss Sterling, what are you planning to do this time?" he asked, bewildered.

Stella Sterling stretched, her eyes glinting with excitement. "Before they find this place, I’ll reveal myself to them first. That way, you won’t be exposed. As for me? I’ll just have some fun with them for a while."

"Also, while I’m gone, if any of your men spot my people, have them wait for me."

After speaking, she took something out from her clothes and gave it to Felix Lawrence.

It was the insignia of Caeluna Base. If Black Swan and the others saw it, they would understand.

"You think the person who killed Attorney Walsh is really here? This place is a barren wasteland. Who would come out here?!"

"I don’t know. The informant said he saw the masked woman heading in this direction. We just have to go and see, right?"

"Even if she was heading this way, this area is huge! Who knows where she’s hiding? Besides, it’s been days. She’s probably long gone by now, and we’re just making this trip for nothing. It’s so hot, and they’re making us search for someone in broad daylight. Are they trying to kill us?!"

A scrawny man complained discontentedly to the person next to him.

They were just low-level grunts from the outer layers of the base. They couldn’t refuse orders from above, so all they could do was complain quietly amongst themselves.

In his opinion, Veridia was huge, and the world outside was even bigger. Finding a woman who had appeared days ago was easier said than done!

Besides, they didn’t even know what she looked like. She wore a mask; who knew what kind of face was underneath it!

She takes off the mask, changes her clothes, and poof! Who’s going to know who she is?

He thought the higher-ups must be out of their minds to issue an order like this.

Of course, it’s not them doing the hard work and suffering, so they couldn’t care less.

Hearing his complaints, the man beside him, who had a scar on his face, also looked resentful and angry.

He felt the same way, but...

He shook his head, suppressing his frustration, and said to his companion, "What can we do? That guy, Attorney Walsh—his brother-in-law is someone on the inside at our base. I hear he’s got some power. He wants us to find the person and get revenge for his wife’s brother. What choice do we have?"

"We have to look, even if we can’t find her. After all, someone gave us a tip. We at least have to make a show of it. We’ll search for a bit, and if we don’t find anything, we’ll head back. Who cares about the rest?"

"I get the logic, but it’s so damn hot, and they didn’t even give us water. I feel like my throat is about to spew smoke. This is a death sentence!"

The scrawny man continued, shaking his head as he spoke, "It would have been better if they’d sent us out at night. They really don’t give a damn about our lives."

"Sigh, brother, there’s nothing to be done. I’m just as miserable as you are. Let’s rest up ahead and look for some water. If we can’t find any, we’ll just find a shady spot and hang out for a while before heading back."

"This shitty job... I fucking hate it too, but what can I do? They’re the ones on top of us. That’s why we’re all desperately trying to climb the ladder."

"Look, it’s one thing for us two brothers to talk like this in private, but don’t say another word once we’re back. Attorney Walsh’s brother-in-law is not a good person. If he hears about this, we’re both screwed."
