Chapter 402 - 412: Sending You to the West
Chapter 402: Chapter 412: Sending You to the West
The threat was obvious.
He had noticed this woman just now. He was sure she was alone, with no companions.
That was why he’d chosen her as his target.
She wore a mask, but her figure revealed she was a woman. In this apocalyptic world, a woman who could travel alone was not to be underestimated.
But he, Derek Walsh, hadn’t survived this long by being a pushover. He wasn’t afraid of some woman.
Her clothes were clean and well-kept. One look and you could tell she was living comfortably—a fat sheep ready for shearing.
He wasn’t asking for much, just a pound of grain. That would be enough to feed him for nearly half a month.
At the thought, a thrill of excitement ran through him. He couldn’t believe his luck tonight.
Stella Sterling’s expression was calm. After hearing his words, she didn’t bother speaking again and simply took two steps forward.
She looked down at the items on the ground, then brought her foot down, grinding it forcefully into them.
Several items were immediately crushed to pieces by Stella Sterling.
Attorney Walsh was stunned for a moment, then immediately yelled, "What are you doing?! Those are my treasures! Pay up! You’re gonna pay for all of it!—"
His eyes went wide, his face a mask of anguish. The first item had been worthless; he’d deliberately broken it to set up his scam.
But the things this woman had just stomped on were different. These were the real, valuable items.
Normally, he could have traded them for a decent amount of grain.
But now, she had crushed several of them with a single stomp.
He glared at Stella Sterling, his eyes burning with a murderous rage.
If before he’d only wanted to extort a little something from her, now he was determined. He wouldn’t let her go until he’d made her bleed for this.
Even so, his face was still twisted in a pained grimace. He was so shocked by her actions and blinded by rage that he failed to consider a crucial point: many of his wares were made of refined iron. How could a normal person possibly crush them to pieces with one foot?
Right now, all he could do was glare furiously at Stella Sterling.
But Stella Sterling’s eyes held a hint of amusement. "You said I stepped on them? Fine, then I stepped on them."
As she spoke, she stomped down again, crushing several more small items.
Seeing the absolute agony on his face, the smile on her own grew even brighter.
Derek Walsh’s breathing grew ragged. He had to use all his willpower to keep himself from cutting the woman down where she stood.
He forced a smile and said, "Miss, if you enjoy stomping on things, then by all means, stomp away. It’s no problem. However, you’ve damaged my property, so you have to pay. That first item was worth one pound of grain. The ones you stepped on after are much more valuable. Each of them is worth two pounds of grain."
"I’ve done the math. You just need to compensate me with 15 pounds of grain."
As he spoke, his eyes were locked on Stella Sterling, making sure she couldn’t run.
She’d damaged his goods, and he wasn’t going to be so agreeable.
He’d only planned on shaking her down for a little, but he never expected her to be so stupid as to retaliate in such a foolish way.
’Hahaha, now she can just wait to pay up!’
While watching Stella Sterling, his hand had already closed around the hilt of his large saber.
But after hearing his demand, Stella Sterling just shrugged. "Sorry, I don’t have it."
"You don’t have it? If you don’t have grain, you’ll have to pay with your life!"
Upon hearing Stella Sterling’s words, Derek Walsh’s expression immediately turned savage and cruel.
Even his tone seemed to carry a bloodthirsty edge. He wiped the blade in his hand. "Looks like my partner here is going to taste blood today. Miss, you don’t look very old. It’s not easy to survive this long in the apocalypse. I’ll give you one more chance. Choose your next words carefully."
As he spoke, his fierce eyes were locked on Stella Sterling.
It was as if he would snap her neck the very next second if her answer didn’t please him.
"I don’t."
Her reply was just two simple words.
Derek Walsh was so angry he laughed. "Good, good, good. Looks like I, Mr. Woods, have met a real stubborn one today. Not afraid to die, are you!"
With that, he stopped wasting words and swung his saber, his face a terrifying, ferocious mask.
’Since she’s so clueless and uncooperative, I’ll just take her life.’
’Anyway, after I kill her, I can take her body back to Sanctyr Base and turn it in. I’ll get a good reward for it!’
’Since she’s in such a hurry to die, I’ll be kind enough to oblige her!’
But in the next instant, he found that the person before him had vanished. A sharp pain shot through his hand, and his saber clattered to the ground.
An intense wave of pain washed over him. He stared in horror at his hand—only half of it remained. The other half had fallen to the ground.
In that brief moment, she had sliced off his hand, and he had no idea how she’d even moved.
Derek Walsh’s eyes were wide with terror on his pale face.
The next moment, something cold and metallic was pressed against his neck.
Cold sweat broke out all over his body. He knew he’d run into a master.
’No wonder this woman was so arrogant. She actually has this kind of skill!’
Cold sweat continued to pour down his body, and even his voice trembled. "Miss, let’s talk this out, we can talk this out..."
The people nearby had also noticed the scene, and surprise flashed in their eyes.
This Attorney Walsh was notorious in these parts for being trouble. He’d scammed plenty of passersby, but no one dared to cross him because he had powerful backing.
’And now he’s fallen at the hands of this woman?’
Everyone looked at Quinn with admiration. No one spoke up to intervene; instead, they turned to watch the show.
Their eyes were filled with schadenfreude.
"I’m sorry, you asked me to pay up, and I really can’t afford it. How about I give you a gift instead?"
Stella Sterling’s smiling voice sounded from behind Derek Walsh.
It was a clear, pleasant voice, but to Derek Walsh’s ears at this moment, it sounded like the whisper of a demon.
His voice began to stammer. "Wh-what k-kind of gift?"
’Never thought I’d misjudge someone so badly, to fall at the hands of a woman.’
’If I can get out of this alive, I’ll make sure she pays!’
Stella Sterling looked at the trembling man before her and smiled. "This gift is called sending you to your grave."
With a light flick of her dagger, she ended his life before Attorney Walsh even had time to react.
