Apocalypse Rebirth: Crazy from Day One

Chapter 383 - 393: Seeing Felix Lawrence Again

Chapter 383: Chapter 393: Seeing Felix Lawrence Again

Seeing the man’s expression, Stella Sterling found it amusing and couldn’t help but laugh out loud.

The spot the man had retreated to wasn’t far from the bushes where Andrew Shaw was hiding.

A harsh glint appeared in Andrew Shaw’s eyes. He lifted his knife, ready to plunge it into the man’s stomach.

Given his height and strength, a slashing motion wasn’t practical.

A thrust was his best option.

Just then, alerted by the noise, the man’s companions rushed out.

"What’s going on? What happened?"

One of them spotted Andrew Shaw’s ambush, and his expression changed instantly. "Watch out!"

The man who yelled the warning simultaneously scooped up a rock and hurled it at Andrew Shaw’s blade.

The rock struck the blade, sending the knife clattering to the ground.

The man who was attacked finally reacted, stumbling back a few steps. "Fuck! There’s an ambusher here! I got careless."

"Thanks, Lawrence!"

"We’re brothers. Don’t mention it."

The man was bald. He looked toward the attacker, and a flicker of astonishment crossed his eyes when he saw that Andrew Shaw was just a little kid, only a few years old.

The man who had nearly been killed by Andrew Shaw exclaimed, "Holy shit, it’s a little brat! This kid is ruthless, hiding in the bushes for a silent ambush!"

If he’d died at the hands of a five-year-old brat, he would’ve been utterly humiliated.

Disappointment flickered in Andrew Shaw’s eyes. His ambush had failed. He quickly rolled across the ground, snatching the knife back into his hand.

He watched the group before him warily.

’I wanted to take one of them out first, but someone had to interfere.’

At this thought, he glanced at the bald man, his eyes flashing with resentment.

’But the guy’s skills seem decent, and his reflexes are fast. If it weren’t for him, I would have succeeded.’

He sneaked a glance in Stella Sterling’s direction. Seeing she had no intention of intervening, he could only grit his teeth.

’Looks like I’m on my own tonight.’

’This past month with Stella Sterling, I’ve eaten well. I’ve grown a bit taller and gotten a little stronger.’

’Against ordinary people, with my past-life experience and my skills, I could give it a shot.’

’But if these guys are skilled too, then I don’t stand much of a chance.’

’But I have to fight today, whether I want to or not. That woman is clearly just enjoying the show. I have no choice but to bite the bullet.’

’In any case, with her here, she probably won’t just stand by and watch me get killed.’

’I haven’t done anything to offend her recently. She wouldn’t be that petty... would she?’

However, he had no intention of fighting them head-on.

Though he clutched the knife, his face was a mask of terror, his eyes welling up with tears.

Combined with the fair, tender skin he’d gained from being well-fed lately, he looked utterly pitiful and innocent.

His voice trembled. "Picking on a little kid... you’re shameless!"

"Fuck you, you little brat! You’re the one who ambushed us!"

The man Andrew Shaw had tried to stab roared in anger.

Tears streamed down Andrew Shaw’s face as if on cue. "You were sneaking up on us in the middle of the night! We’re completely defenseless. What were we supposed to do but hide?"

Watching him turn on the waterworks so easily, Stella Sterling let out a few soft chuckles from the sidelines.

’His acting is pretty good.’

Stella Sterling’s soft chuckles drew the attention of the seven or eight men.

The man from before yelled, "I almost forgot! There’s this creepy woman here, too!"

"Lawrence, this woman is fucking creepy! Who the hell sits around eating sunflower seeds in the dead of night? And when I showed up, she smiled at me! It’s so damn scary!"

He let loose a string of curses, and Stella Sterling’s gaze turned cold.

’I just wanted to enjoy the show. How is that creepy? How is that scary?’

At that, the bald man they called Lawrence also looked over.

The next moment, his eyes widened as he stared in disbelief. "Stella Sterling... Miss Sterling, is that you?"

Meanwhile, Andrew Shaw seized the opportunity while their attention was on Stella Sterling, brandishing his knife and charging the group.

He engaged the man he had tried to ambush earlier.

Hearing her name, Stella Sterling turned to look at the man who had spoken.

The first thing she noticed was his bald head.

He was tall and powerfully built. His skin was tanned a dark brown, but he looked healthy and strong, and his eyes seemed to gleam.

After studying his face for a couple of seconds, Stella Sterling spoke, her tone hesitant. "Orilon Complex... Felix Lawrence?"

"That’s me! It really is you, Miss Sterling."

Felix Lawrence’s voice grew excited, his whole expression lighting up.

Hearing him confirm it, Stella Sterling’s eyes also held a trace of surprise.

She never expected to run into an acquaintance from her old residential complex at a time like this.

It had been nearly two years since she’d left that complex. His appearance had changed considerably, but she could still see a shadow of the man he used to be.

She hadn’t recognized him at first. If he hadn’t called out her name, she never would have made the connection.

"Hahaha! It really is you, Miss Sterling! You haven’t changed a bit—in fact, you’ve gotten even more beautiful!"

Felix Lawrence burst out laughing, his voice full of cheerful surprise.

’It’s been two years, and Miss Sterling is even more beautiful than when we last saw each other. Of course, I’d seen her looking like this back at the complex, so I recognized her right away.’

The men around Felix Lawrence looked at him, surprised by his reaction.

’What’s going on?’

’Looks like Lawrence and this woman are old acquaintances. So, are we fighting tonight or not?’

At the back of the group, a young boy was also staring intently at Stella Sterling.

Seeing his joyful expression, Stella Sterling’s lips slowly curved into a smile. "Long time no see."

"It really has been a long time. It’s been almost two years in the blink of an eye. Miss Sterling, I’m so glad to see you’re still alive."

As he spoke, a flicker of sorrow crossed Felix Lawrence’s eyes. So much had happened over the years, and so many familiar faces were gone.

So seeing Stella Sterling, from his old complex, made him feel both thrilled and nostalgic.

Stella Sterling glanced at the people behind him. Other than the young boy, who looked somewhat familiar and she guessed was his son...

...she didn’t recognize any of the others. They weren’t from their old complex.

Thinking of the cruelty of the apocalypse, Stella Sterling already knew the answer.
