Chapter 377: Chapter 387: The Person You Want to Deal With Is Him!!
"Where are we going?"
After traveling with Stella Sterling for so long, Andrew Shaw finally asked, his curiosity getting the better of him.
It had been almost a month since he started following her. Aside from when they stopped to rest, they spent most of their time on the road.
’He was very curious. Where was this woman from?’
’And where were they heading now? With her abilities, she could make a living anywhere. Wouldn’t it be better to just find a place and settle down?’
’Why keep rushing like this?’
’And to such a faraway place, no less!’
If she were running for her life, that would be one thing—someone chasing her from behind, forcing her to flee to a distant land and start over.
But with her strength, he wondered what kind of person could possibly force her to run like this.
Besides, Stella Sterling had been completely at ease these past few days, not looking like she was fleeing for her life in the slightest.
"To Veridia."
Stella Sterling answered while driving. After a pause, she continued, "This time, I’m going specifically to stir up some trouble."
"And the people I’m going to mess with are pretty strong. The leader of a major base, in fact."
She glanced back at him. "The kind of situation where one wrong move gets you killed. If you stick with me, you’ll likely get caught in the crossfire."
Stella Sterling’s words were serious and earnest, but her expression showed no sign of worry.
She didn’t look like the situation was as dire as she made it sound.
Andrew Shaw answered without a second thought, "So what? I’m not afraid. And I trust you."
Having witnessed her power, Andrew Shaw had complete confidence in Stella Sterling.
So her words didn’t scare him at all.
Still, he was a little curious. ’For her to describe him as so powerful, that person must be truly formidable.’
And for this woman to call it a "major base," the faction couldn’t possibly be simple.
By the 18th year of the apocalypse, very few bases still existed. The ones that did were all exceptionally powerful.
’I wonder what the deal is with the base Stella Sterling mentioned. Have I heard of it before?’
He said, "Which base are you talking about? Maybe I heard of it in the future."
Hearing his question, Stella Sterling didn’t hide anything and said directly, "Sanctyr Base. Have you heard that name?"
In her past life, seven years into the apocalypse, Stella had never heard the name Sanctyr Base.
But just because she hadn’t heard of it didn’t mean the base didn’t exist.
After all, in this apocalypse, communication and information were not widespread. She had only operated within a certain area; without specifically seeking out news from other regions, she wouldn’t necessarily know about them.
So, in this life she was reborn into, if not for a series of coincidences, she never would have known that a place called Sanctyr Base even existed in this region.
"Sanctyr Base?"
Andrew Shaw muttered the two words, a flicker of doubt in his eyes. He searched his memory carefully, then shook his head. "Never heard of it!"
Then, he broke into a wider smile. The sliver of worry he’d felt before vanished, and the faint anxiety in his heart finally settled.
He laughed. "This base must only be powerful in this region. I never heard of it growing up."
"By the 18th year of the apocalypse, most bases were long gone. The ones that remained were all legendary, and in my memory, there’s no such place as Sanctyr Base."
"Most likely, it was destroyed somewhere along the river of time. That means they couldn’t have been that powerful."
"Ha! Lady, with your strength, taking out this base should be no problem. Even if you can’t wipe them out completely, roughing them up will be a piece of cake!"
Realizing this, Andrew Shaw relaxed completely. He chuckled and said, "I’m actually quite curious now. How did the people from this base offend you? What did they do?"
"To make you drive all this way just to pick a fight with them."
"But wait, that doesn’t add up. The place you were before is so far from here. How could they have possibly offended you?"
He received no answer from Stella Sterling to these questions.
’How did they offend her?’
’This base’s offenses weren’t just one or two things.’
’Besides the things they’d done, she herself had a long history of grievances with them!’
’And the one who irritated her the most was their leader, Miles Sanctus.’
Stella Sterling wasn’t surprised to hear that Andrew Shaw had never heard of Sanctyr Base.
She hadn’t heard of it in her past life either.
She didn’t answer his questions. Instead, she asked another, "How about the name Miles Sanctus? Have you heard of him?"
"Miles Sanctus!!!"
Hearing that name, Andrew Shaw’s voice jumped several octaves.
He was so agitated he nearly leaped out of his seat.
He swallowed hard and looked at Stella Sterling tentatively. "Lady, this person you’re asking about... does he have any connection to the Sanctyr Base you just mentioned?"
Even without an answer, the two names—the person’s and the base’s—were clearly connected.
It was impossible for Andrew Shaw not to make the connection.
The happy expression on his face slowly faded, replaced by one of growing concern.
He looked at Stella Sterling nervously, hoping it was all just his imagination. ’Just because the names are similar doesn’t mean they’re related, right?’
But in the next moment, Stella Sterling shattered that last sliver of hope.
A half-smile played on Stella Sterling’s lips as she looked at him. "This Miles Sanctus... he’s the leader of Sanctyr Base."
"From the looks of it, you know him. What, was he a big deal in the future, too?"
Andrew Shaw deflated as if all the air had been let out of him. He slumped weakly against the back of his seat, but still managed to answer her. "A big deal? He was a huge deal. A boss of bosses."
"His power was immense, and he held a great deal of authority. In the era I lived in, his name was legendary."
Hearing this, Stella Sterling’s reaction was quite placid; she showed no surprise.
Andrew Shaw, however, suddenly sat bolt upright and began to reason with her. "Lady, are you really going to pick a fight with him?"
"Is this a grudge you absolutely have to settle? If it’s not something you *must* avenge, I’d advise you to just let it go."
"You’re very strong, but that Miles Sanctus is no simple character. And right now, he’s in charge of a major base with countless followers. You’ll be at a disadvantage if you go up against him."
