Chapter 509 - 503: Monster Cultivation Room
Chapter 509: Chapter 503: Monster Cultivation Room
Xie Ning shook the small, glittering golden hammer in her hand. It instantly grew by half a meter, and she propped it on her shoulder.
She walked toward the main entrance. Spotting a shambling zombie, she swung the hammer and blew its head apart, absorbing the Crystal Core.
She had already cleared out the few zombies wandering in the lobby.
Now, heading to the second floor, the narrow staircase was pitch-black.
But she didn’t actually need to see; the range of her spiritual power far exceeded that of her eyes.
Even so, Xie Ning pulled a helmet with a searchlight out of her Space and plopped it onto her head. Wearing the large helmet, she walked up the stairs step by step.
The brilliant searchlight made her already shimmering golden body shine even more brightly.
Xie Ning stepped onto the second floor. Before the zombie in the corridor could even pounce, she had already hammered it to death.
’It’s actually a mutated Wind-type Zombie.’ ’A shame its Rank is so low.’
’This kind of low-level Zombie Crystal Core is practically useless to little Shijun.’
Acting on the principle of never letting anything go to waste, Xie Ning extracted the energy from the Crystal Core anyway.
Her speed at extracting energy had improved by leaps and bounds over the past year; she could now drain the energy with just a sweep of her hand from a distance.
She kicked open the metal door of a lab pod and frowned at the glass containers inside.
Many strange creatures were being raised inside.
She even saw two glass vessels connected to a single apparatus.
In them lay a zombie covered in green fur and a bizarrely-shaped monkey.
Xie Ning took pictures of everything in the lab pod and forwarded them to Gu Chen and Lu Wei.
Things like filing subsequent reports to the Capital had nothing to do with her.
Feeling she had done her part, the young woman took a look around the lab pod, gathering some seemingly useful supplies into a new, sealed, transparent container.
Since she didn’t know if the materials were contaminated, she temporarily placed the container inside a shipping container within a separate section of her Space.
After inspecting all the lab pods on this floor, Xie Ning once again ran toward the third floor.
There were living people on the third floor. She had sensed them back in the lobby, and it seemed like there were quite a few.
They were probably some of the research staff.
Xie Ning guessed as much. Harboring suspicions, she hefted her golden hammer and bounded up the stairs.
Just as she reached the landing, she was, as expected, ambushed.
The corridor was dark, and two people lying in wait at the top of the stairs fired tranquilizer darts at her.
In truth, however, Xie Ning’s spiritual power had already pinpointed everyone on the floor, including their exact positions and main actions.
Therefore, the moment the darts flew toward her, she used her power to reverse their trajectory, sending them right back at the two idiots who fired them.
Two soft PFFTS were followed by the thud of bodies hitting the floor.
’Looks like a heavy dose. For ordinary people, it’s debatable whether they’d even survive an overdose like that.’
Xie Ning felt no sympathy whatsoever.
Researchers who could conduct fusion experiments on zombies and monsters and cultivate Spiritual System abominations... it was debatable whether they were even human. Xie Ning truly felt no pity for them, dead or alive.
"Open fire!" someone shrieked in terror.
However, the words had barely left his mouth when Xie Ning’s suddenly-enlarged Big Golden Hammer smashed into his head.
With a KRA-CRACK, it shattered like a watermelon...
"AHHHH! 012, 013, and 018 are all dead! Run!"
The people hiding in the dark must have realized that the she-devil before them was not an opponent they could handle. They immediately scrambled, running toward the lab pods deeper inside.
Xie Ning took them down one by one with her hammer, smashing whoever tried to run.
She was gentler this time, merely shattering the legs they were running on.
Seven or eight people lay on the ground, writhing and screaming in agony.
"Hurry, release Test Subject One!" a researcher shrieked into a walkie-talkie. Immediately after, Xie Ning heard the sound of an airlock hissing open at the far end of the corridor.
The roar of this so-called "Test Subject One" echoed from the end of the long, dark corridor, instantly striking fear and silence into everyone present.
Many of the men on the floor with broken legs trembled in fear, scrambling and crawling to the side.
Xie Ning raised an eyebrow, pushing up the large searchlight helmet that was nearly blocking her vision.
Her spiritual power detected an incredibly fast object rushing toward her, followed by a sound like the very earth was quaking.
Xie Ning didn’t know how to describe the monster that charged out.
With a perfectly calm expression, she snapped a photo of the monster, tapped the surface of her wristband, and sent it to Gu Chen and Lu Wei.
Upon receiving the message, both Gu Chen and Lu Wei were left speechless.
’What is with this girl? Who has time to send photos and messages when facing a giant monster...’
Xie Ning watched with great interest as the giant monster, its head tilted, scooped up two trembling researchers from the corner with its massive hand.
It slammed them viciously against the laboratory wall as if tossing burlap sacks.
Their heads burst on impact. Terrified shrieks erupted from the few surviving researchers in the corridor.
The two-headed monster was over three meters tall, its heads nearly scraping the ceiling.
Because of this, it had to keep its heads tilted, unable to stand up straight.
’Explosively ugly!’
Xie Ning had never known such a bizarrely unconventional creature could even exist in this world.
’What’s the difference between this and the Alien Species made by the X Realm?’
’The only difference is probably that an Alien Species can at least inhabit a human host and still pass for a normal person on the surface. And the technology for the Alien Species is clearly much more... mature.’
’This cultivated monster, this test subject, is just too crude!’
Xie Ning watched coldly as the monster slammed all the remaining researchers against the wall, killing them with bursting heads.
When only two researchers were left alive, they clutched their heads, weeping and blaming each other.
"Who released Test Subject One? It’s completely uncontrollable!"
’They told it to eliminate the enemy, and instead, it wiped out its own side first.’
Xie Ning almost laughed at the sight.
She had been standing perfectly still at the top of the stairs the whole time, not even moving her feet, just watching the test subject kill off the group of researchers.
Once it was finished, Xie Ning took a few steps forward, stood before the great monster, and gave it a casual wave.
The monster’s gaze gradually focused on her. Tilting its heads, it charged at her with heavy, THUDDING steps.
The Big Golden Hammer in Xie Ning’s hand expanded once more, and abundant Gold Element Energy enveloped its entire surface.
BOOM! She met its charge with a direct upward smash of the hammer.
The monster’s massive body was sent flying backward onto the ground by Xie Ning’s single blow.
Its head slammed heavily against the glass door behind it, which instantly shattered.
It clumsily tried to get back up, but Xie Ning wasn’t about to give it the chance.
Before it could even roll over, Xie Ning dashed forward and brought her hammer down hard on the great monster’s thick leg.
The sound of bone cracking was sickeningly clear.
The sound made the two researchers, who were slumped to the side, begin to convulse in fear.
Xie Ning’s second blow landed.
It was even more powerful than the last.
