Chapter 384: Complaint
Chapter 384: Chapter 384: Complaint
"Sir, what does he mean?" The muscle-bound man’s chiseled face showed his utter confusion. "What does protesting have to do with some old man?"
Li Weide didn’t want to speak. Gu Chen had already let go of his collar, but Li Weide’s mind was racing, trying to figure out what he could possibly say to salvage the situation.
But an enraged Lu Wei wasn’t about to waste any more time talking. He started shoving them out of the conference room. "Go, go, go! Stop being so damn annoying. You may have nothing better to do, but we’ve got plenty of work!"
"Treating your friends from Country A like this is going too far!" the bearded man roared.
"We’re going to file a complaint about you to the higher-ups!"
"Yes, a complaint!"
Gu Chen kicked the muscle-bound man, sending him staggering, and said with a smile, "Complain to your mom!"
...
"Are you out of your mind? Were you just itching for a beating? You just couldn’t wait to get your ass kicked, could you?" Feng Lijian sat down authoritatively by his sister’s hospital bed, immediately launching into a tirade.
"And didn’t I warn you last time? Stay away from that whole crowd from the Song Family and the Xie family!"
"You call this me provoking them?" Feng JiaMin grimaced as soon as she spoke, the pain in her arm excruciating.
She was propped up against the headboard, unable to move her left arm at all. "I have a broken arm, Big Brother, and you’re still yelling at me?"
"And who caused that broken arm?"
"Xie Ning, of course!" ’Is my brother an idiot?’
"It was you!!" Feng Lijian shot to his feet, pointing at his sister as he spewed vitriol. "If you hadn’t done everything in your power to ask for this beating, would your arm be broken?"
"When are you ever going to stop making trouble!" Feng Lijian cursed. "Let me tell you, whatever goodwill I had with Chen is almost completely used up because of you!"
"If this keeps up, I’m telling you, Chen and I won’t even be able to be regular friends!"
Feng JiaMin’s mouth fell open. After a long moment, she pouted, her shoulders slumping in defeat. "It can’t be that serious," she whispered.
"Also, how many times have I told you?"
Feng JiaMin flinched. "What?"
"You need to lose with some grace!!!" Feng Lijian roared at his sister, his voice like a furious dragon bellowing in her ear.
Feng JiaMin’s head snapped up, and she yelled indignantly, "Are you seriously telling me I should have called her ’Dad’?? If I call Xie Ning ’Dad’, doesn’t that make you her son too?"
Feng Lijian: ...
’He really wanted to smack his sister on her stupid head.’
Taking a deep breath, Feng Lijian tried to reason with her patiently. "Can you please listen to the main point? When I say ’lose with grace,’ I mean that after you’ve already lost, can’t you just shut your mouth instead of continuing to run it?"
"Saying stuff like ’give you three years and you’ll beat her’? Have you been watching too many stupid TV shows? If anyone said that crap to me, I wouldn’t give them a single second. I’d crush them on the spot. Three years? Where are you gonna get three years?"
Feng JiaMin hunched her shoulders and kept quiet.
"Tell me, are you a complete blockhead? Let’s put it this way: even if she gave you three years and you managed to reach the Sixth Rank, do you think she’s just going to wait for you? Isn’t she going to keep getting stronger too?!"
Seeing her cowering, Feng Lijian’s anger flared up again. He went over and poked her forehead, continuing to scold her. "You have the head of a pig!"
"If I have a pig’s brain, what does that make you?" Feng JiaMin snapped back, tilting her head up in anger. "We have the same mom!"
Feng Lijian really wished he could just smack this sister of his and be done with it. It would save him from the trouble she caused him day after day.
"You can insult me, but don’t you dare insult our mom!"
Feng Lijian was so angry he laughed. "When did I insult Mom?"
"You called me a pig-head. So if Mom gave birth to a pig-head like me, what does that make her?"
Feng Lijian: ...
"Jia Min." Feng Lijian sat down beside her, forcing himself to calm down and speak peacefully. "How about this, I’m begging you as your brother. From now on, stay out of Chen’s business, big or small. Don’t try to get involved, okay?"
Feng JiaMin pressed her lips together. "I... I’ll try."
Feng Lijian felt a wave of relief.
He knew his sister’s personality. When she said she’d "try," it meant she would genuinely make an effort.
As long as she could control that mouth of hers from now on and stop looking for trouble to provoke Chen, he figured their relationship could probably be salvaged.
"Jia Min, you’re the only close blood relative I have left. I just want you to live your own life well. Promise me, stop meddling in other people’s family affairs. Just focus on your own life and try to be happy."
Feng JiaMin was quite moved and looked at her brother.
Seeing the exhaustion etched on his face, she couldn’t help but feel a pang of guilt.
She nodded. "Big Brother, don’t worry. I’ll definitely try my best to do what I promised you. For the next two days, can I take some leave from the team? I want to rest."
A heavy sadness weighed on her heart. For some reason, she kept replaying the look Chen had given her—a look of indescribable arrogance and finality.
...
"How could you be so rude as to attack our friends from Country A? You two have gone too far!" Secretary Chen slammed a few messily filled-out complaint forms on his desk. Feeling a massive headache coming on, he looked at the two young men standing before him.
"Lu Wei, how did you get mixed up in Gu Chen’s nonsense too?"
"You brats! Look, see for yourselves! They’ve already complained to the very top!" Secretary Chen pointed a finger toward the ceiling.
"You need to show some basic courtesy to our foreign friends."
"Old Chen, cut the crap. Just tell us how you’re going to handle this."
Secretary Chen’s eyes went wide. "What do you mean, ’Old Chen’? Show some respect for your elders."
"I’m telling you, this assault incident could be a big deal or a small one. That Li Weide, he’s not without connections. He holds a rather high position in the Global Superpower Academy."
"For now, I’ve managed to keep a lid on this, but you can’t be so impulsive in the future."
"If something like this happens again, I really won’t help you brats..."
"Alright, alright, I get it." Gu Chen leaned casually against the desk. "So, Old Chen, how are we going to resolve this now?"
"Regarding the Superpower Academy branch, have you mentioned it to Miss Xie?"
Gu Chen shook his head. "My girlfriend definitely won’t go."
Secretary Chen really wanted to smack him on the head, but his usual good temperament made him hold back.
"You should still mention it to Miss Xie."
"Old Du from the Capital Branch came by to press me about it again yesterday. He was just asking, no other intentions."
"The main reason they came before, under the pretext of an ’exchange,’ was actually to meet the High-level superpower users on our team."
"Who knew that Miss Xie would appear out of nowhere and display the formidable strength of a Sixth Rank."
"Something like that is impossible to hide."
Gu Chen raised an eyebrow and scoffed. "There’s nothing to hide. If they want to cause trouble for a Sixth Rank, they’d better consider if they’re tough enough to survive it."
Secretary Chen shot him a glare. "Xiao Gu, I’m leaving this matter to you."
Gu Chen looked up, his lips curling into a sneer. "They want to see my girlfriend, so I’m just supposed to let them?"
