Apocalypse Escape: Day One of Survival

Chapter 378: Live Teaching

Chapter 378: Chapter 378: Live Teaching

However, these attacks only inflicted minor, superficial wounds on the Sixth-Rank mutated zombie; they failed to cause any substantial damage.

Xie Ning waved her hand, blocking several of the zombie’s Ice Cones, then closed the distance and leaped onto the parapet.

At the same time, Lu Wei and Gu Chen leaped up after her.

Lu Wei’s thorny Wood Vines, as thick as a bowl, wrapped around the zombie, pulling taut and making it pause for a moment.

Xie Ning waved her hand, creating two Space Blades. Landing lightly on them, she instantly summoned a Metal Sword and swung it directly at the zombie’s head.

Her movements were incredibly fast.

A barrier suddenly materialized over the Sixth-Rank mutated zombie’s head.

In the blink of an eye, Xie Ning’s Metal Sword descended, accompanied by a Thunder Strike from Gu Chen that arrived at the exact same moment.

This wasn’t their first time working together; their coordination was nearly flawless, as fast as lightning.

With a loud CRACK, the ice Protective Shield on the zombie’s head exploded!

It froze for a second, as if it didn’t understand what had happened, and instinctively shook its head.

The electric current coursed along the ice on its arm, shattering it with a SIZZLE.

Xie Ning unleashed a flurry of Golden Needles, each one piercing the superficial layer of ice and striking the zombie’s body directly.

Probably in pain, the Sixth-Rank zombie threw its head back and howled.

As a Sixth-Rank mutated creature, it must have been quite cunning; otherwise, it wouldn’t have created ice ladders to sneak up the walls.

Realizing that its opponents were too tough to handle, the unlucky bastard turned to flee.

But where could it run?

The ice ladders it had used to climb up had long been incinerated by the combined efforts of several Fire Ability Users.

Even for a Sixth-Rank, a jump from such a high wall would be disastrous!

The zombie turned to look and was dumbfounded. Then, it turned back and, in a surprisingly human-like gesture, glared viciously at Xie Ning.

’Before the apocalypse, this guy was probably a pretty sharp-looking young man.’

’After becoming a Sixth-Rank zombie, does it still appreciate being clean and tidy?’

That explained why this zombie was wearing a simple, clean white T-shirt.

’Right. A corpse wearing a T-shirt in the dead of winter wouldn’t feel the cold.’

Xie Ning stared back at it, then provocatively raised a finger and beckoned. "Come on."

The group of Superpower Users watching from the sidelines couldn’t help but roar with excitement.

Damn, Captain Xie was just too freaking cool. It was impossible not to admire her.

The Sixth-Rank zombie stared at Xie Ning, howled, and lunged at her.

Xie Ning dodged aside, waved her hand, and shouted, "Wind!"

Song Shijun leaped forward. With a WHOOSH, he waved his hand and unleashed dozens of Wind Vortexes that swirled toward the unlucky zombie’s head.

"Fire!" the young woman waved her arm and shouted once more.

And then things really heated up. All the Fire Ability Users, led by Song Kexin, unleashed a barrage of Fireballs. An inferno instantly erupted within a small, confined space.

The feeling was incredible!

The Sixth-Rank mutated zombie was standing right in front of everyone, but it simply couldn’t reach them.

It seemed to be imprisoned within a small, sealed space.

Even though no one could see any sort of barrier, the zombie was trapped, completely unable to move freely.

The two-square-meter patch of ground it occupied was filled with a roaring torrent of wind and fire, sealing it inside to seethe and burn.

"Where are the Space Ability Users?"

At Xie Ning’s command, over a dozen Space Ability Users stepped forward. They gathered curiously behind her, craning their necks to get a better look.

"Go take a look. Focus and feel the fluctuations of your own Space Ability, then do this." With a flick of her wrist, Xie Ning sent a thin Space Blade spinning into the confined space, where it sliced into the zombie’s head.

The other Superpower Users who didn’t have Space Abilities were speechless.

Li Dawei couldn’t help but urge his teammate Ge Yan, "Hurry up and learn from this! So this is what the Space System can do. Xie Ning is giving a live lesson! Go on, it’s a free lesson you can’t afford to miss."

Ge Yan nodded, took a deep breath to feign composure, and began to shuffle forward.

Even though the Sixth-Rank zombie was sealed and couldn’t get out, it was still terrifyingly close.

Especially with a gap of two or three Levels between them.

Ge Yan’s group slowly approached the Sixth-Rank zombie. As they got closer, they could clearly see its terrifying form pressed against an invisible wall, roaring madly at them.

"Whoa, crap!" one of the Space Ability Users exclaimed, stumbling back and stepping on someone’s foot.

"So this is the invisible wall," another said, boldly reaching out a hand to touch it.

Up close, some of the Superpower Users at Third Rank and above could clearly feel the presence of the wall.

"It’s amazing."

By now, the base’s main group chat was in an uproar, with people telling every Space Ability User not present to hurry over and watch.

This was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

Using a Sixth-Rank zombie for practice was something they wouldn’t have even dared to dream of before.

After half an hour of this onslaught, the flames engulfing the Sixth-Rank zombie finally died down.

Looking at it now, its entire body was charred black. From head to toe, the corpse exuded a sense of... utter, ravaged exhaustion.

Xie Ning had the Space Ability Users fall back, then dispelled the Space Blade before the zombie.

The Sixth-Rank zombie stumbled and staggered as it turned to run.

In a very human-like way, it sensed the approaching danger. It gave up on revenge. ’I still have some strength left,’ it seemed to think. ’I have to run now.’

But a bolt of thunder from above, CRACKLING with lightning, slammed its entire body to the ground.

The speed was astounding.

Xie Ning was the first to react, casually sending several more Golden Needles after it.

The Golden Needles pierced the zombie’s skin and penetrated deep inside, immediately exploding within its body.

The shattering power of the Gold Element completely neutralized the Sixth-Rank zombie’s combat ability.

Xie Ning strode forward, a Metal Knife clutched in her hand, and instantly drew out the Crystal Core.

Prying a Crystal Core directly from the brain of a dying zombie was a technique used by the Spiritual System.

With a blank expression, Xie Ning took out a small basin of tap water and, with a SPLASH, rinsed off the Zombie Crystal Core.

After rinsing it twice, she stored it away on the terrace for the time being.

Seeing the Sixth-Rank zombie finally dead, everyone slowly breathed a sigh of relief.

"Thank goodness there was only one mutated Sixth-Rank zombie," someone couldn’t help but mutter.

If a whole group had appeared, they would have been in serious trouble.

Right now, the only people capable of dealing with a Sixth-Rank monster, besides Captain Xie, were probably just a few high-level superpower users like Captain Gu and Captain Lu.

Most of the others were still no match for a Sixth-Rank zombie.

"Ningning, wait!" Yu Tianfeng, Dr. Wei, and a few others rushed over, circling the corpse of the dead Sixth-Rank zombie.

"Take it away."

Xie Ning gave them a look of disgust. "What do you want with this thing?"

"We want to cut it open and take a look before it gets cold."

"Well, you’d better be careful then." Xie Ning was exasperated. She glanced at Yu Tianfeng. "Even though it’s dead, its body is probably still full of the zombie virus."

"Of course, of course. We’ll take full precautions before we enter the lab."
