Chapter 220: Refusing a Toast, Drinking a Forfeit
Chapter 220: Chapter 220: Refusing a Toast, Drinking a Forfeit
Being publicly berated by Jiang Moli for having no class, Hou Yuzhu couldn’t keep a straight face any longer.
Her tone turned hostile. "Who the hell do you think you are? It’s not your place to tell me what to do."
"I’m your grandma. What, you want to kowtow and make it official?"
"You!"
Seeing the two were at each other’s throats and about to start a fight, everyone rushed to break it up.
"Forget it, Yuzhu. Why stoop to her level?"
Qian Ling also tried to persuade Jiang Moli. "Let’s go, or we’ll miss our ride."
Hou Yuzhu shot a parting threat at Jiang Moli. "I have things to do today, I don’t have time to waste on you. This isn’t over!"
Jiang Moli smirked. "I was just joking around. Why are you so mad? You should be more broad-minded. If you really can’t stand the sight of me, you can either pretend to be blind or kill yourself."
Hou Yuzhu was so furious she looked like she could shoot fire from her eyes and burn Jiang Moli to a crisp.
...
In a restaurant, Hou Yuzhu was treating a few of her close friends from the troupe to a meal.
A table full of dishes had been served, but since Hou Yuzhu wasn’t picking up her chopsticks, everyone else could only stare at the food.
"Yuzhu, don’t be angry. Here, have something to eat."
"Jiang Moli is just a nasty piece of work. She’s just an idiot with a pretty face and no brains. She just joined the troupe and doesn’t even know enough to keep a low profile. Strutting around all high and mighty every day, she’s pissed off plenty of people. Just you wait, she’s bound to hit a brick wall eventually."
Her good friends’ attempts to console her did nothing to cool Hou Yuzhu’s anger.
"What beauty? She’s flat-chested with a tiny ass, like a scrawny, undeveloped bean sprout!"
While it was true that Jiang Moli was lacking in certain physical departments, it didn’t stop her from being beautiful.
In fact, her slender frame meant she looked good in anything.
A walking mannequin, plain and simple.
However, since everyone at the table was part of Hou Yuzhu’s clique, they all went along with her, joining in on bashing Jiang Moli.
"That’s true. With those two little peas on her chest, she’s lucky her husband doesn’t mind."
Hearing this put Hou Yuzhu in an excellent mood. "Her ass is small and flat, too. I bet she’ll never be able to give birth to a son in this lifetime! A foul-mouthed, trashy bitch. Even if she had a son, he wouldn’t have an asshole..."
Two tables over, Lu Tingting, Song Ke, Wu Meixia, and a few of their school friends were also having a meal.
Today was Song Ke’s birthday.
The whole table was eagerly eavesdropping on the drama.
Anyone invited to Song Ke’s birthday was a close friend. They had all heard plenty about Jiang Moli and knew how much Lu Tingting detested her.
Seeing Lu Tingting pick up her wine glass and head toward Hou Yuzhu’s table, Song Ke and Wu Meixia exchanged a look.
’Is she going to propose a toast?’
After all, the enemy of my enemy is my friend.
So the two of them also picked up their glasses and followed Lu Tingting.
The others saw this and followed their lead.
The group quickly surrounded Hou Yuzhu’s table.
"Hey."
Hou Yuzhu was right in the middle of her tirade. Cut off so abruptly by Lu Tingting, she asked, annoyed, "Who are you?"
Lu Tingting’s lips curled into a sneer. "You look like a walking joke, so I came over to offer you a toast."
With that, she raised her glass and poured the wine onto the floor in front of Hou Yuzhu.
Song Ke and Wu Meixia instinctively copied Lu Tingting’s action.
’Isn’t pouring wine on the ground something you do for the dead?’ only dawned on them after they’d poured their drinks.
The others in their group didn’t know what was going on, but they copied the three of them and poured their wine onto the floor as well.
Some who were further away even squeezed their way to the front of Hou Yuzhu’s table to pour, determined to make sure their "toast" was delivered properly.
At first, Hou Yuzhu was just baffled, but once the reality of the situation sunk in, she was consumed with rage.
"Who the hell are you? Are you crazy?"
"I’m your grandpa! You don’t like a toast? Fine..."
Lu Tingting slammed her empty glass onto the table, her mocking gaze sweeping over Hou Yuzhu and her friends.
"I see you’re all so busy talking you can’t be bothered to eat. In that case, just don’t eat at all!"
With that, she gripped the edge of the table and flipped it right over.
Cups, plates, bowls, and chopsticks went flying, CRASHING to the floor.
Not only were Hou Yuzhu and her friends stunned, but even Song Ke and Wu Meixia were left gaping.
’When did our friend get so badass and formidable?’
The other customers stopped eating, all craning their necks to watch the spectacle.
Hou Yuzhu trembled with rage. "Who the hell are you? Do I even know you? Why did you come over here and start this for no reason?"
"You know Jiang Moli, right? She’s my aunt."
Hou Yuzhu’s face flashed with surprise when she heard that Lu Tingting was Jiang Moli’s niece.
Seeing Hou Yuzhu’s guilty silence, Lu Tingting snorted.
"Whether Jiang Moli is a good person or a bad one, it’s not for an outsider like you to run your mouth. If I ever hear you talking trash about her again, I’ll rip your mouth off!"
After chewing out Hou Yuzhu, she turned on the others from the drama troupe with a full-blown verbal assault:
"All of you! If your mouths are that idle, go lick a septic tank! All you do is stir up trouble, sow discord, spread rumors, and gossip about people behind their backs. Aren’t you afraid your tongues will rot and you’ll die young? You’re all just a bunch of walking bad luck."
The entire table was so thoroughly berated they didn’t dare make a peep.
Hou Yuzhu was livid. "Don’t push it! You really think we’re afraid of you!?"
Lu Tingting rolled up her sleeves. "Bring it. Let’s see if I don’t wreck you."
Seeing a fight was about to break out, Song Ke and Wu Meixia hurriedly pulled Lu Tingting aside.
"Tingting, that’s enough."
"If you get into a physical fight, it’s considered provoking a disturbance. You’ll end up at the police station."
Lu Tingting actually listened to their advice. If she really did end up at the police station, her family would definitely give her hell.
She pulled out twenty yuan and threw it in Hou Yuzhu’s face. "This is for the meal. Keep the change. Buy yourself a couple baskets of sweet potatoes to go home and chew on, so you won’t have time to run that mouth of yours."
Hou Yuzhu was furious, but she had no choice but to grit her teeth and take it.
She knew she was in the wrong for badmouthing Jiang Moli behind her back, and the Lu Family was too powerful for her to provoke.
Only after they had paid the bill and left the restaurant did Hou Yuzhu finally let loose a string of curses.
"What rotten luck, running into that crazy bitch! There isn’t a single sane woman in that entire Lu Family!"
The expressions of her companions were just as sour.
They had come out for a nice, happy meal, but ended up not getting a single bite. Instead, they were completely humiliated, and to top it all off, their clothes and shoes were ruined.
Jiang Moli’s niece was even more arrogant and domineering than Jiang Moli herself.
『Disdain Value +4. Account credited: 40,000 yuan.』
Everyone’s disgust and anger toward Lu Tingting was now redirected entirely at Jiang Moli.
...
Having vented her anger, Lu Tingting felt completely refreshed. She had the waiter bring a new set of bowls and chopsticks and went right back to eating and drinking.
Song Ke, Wu Meixia, and the others stared at her as she took a bite of food and a sip of wine, clearly still reeling from the chaos.
Song Ke was the first one to break the silence, voicing the question on her mind:
"Tingting, I thought you hated Jiang Moli more than anyone. Why did you just help her?"
Lu Tingting shot her a sideways glance. "Are you drunk? Me, help her? I was defending the honor of the Lu Family!"
Song Ke and Wu Meixia exchanged a look.
They could both tell Lu Tingting was just putting on a brave front, but they didn’t call her out on it.
"Tingting, you were so impressive just now. That bunch from the performance troupe were so scared they just huddled there and didn’t dare say a word."
"But you know, the way you cuss people out is getting more and more like Jiang Moli."
Lu Tingting slammed her hand on the table. "Bullshit! I’m nothing like that wretched woman! Just you wait! One day, I’ll grind her under my heel and make her bow down to me!"
...
The clock struck ten.
Jiang Moli sat at her desk under the glow of a lamp, pen in hand, writing furiously.
Suddenly, she faintly heard a voice shouting from outside the courtyard:
"Jiang Moli! Jiang Moli, you wretched woman, get out here!"
