Matcha slept in a paper carton, his paws facing the sky, snoring extremely loudly. He had no awareness of his surroundings at all.
In his groggy state, he felt something butting him. Matcha shifted his paws and said, “Don’t push me, Zhao Yao, let me sleep another minute.”
Matcha immediately reacted. He was not at home. Opening his eyes, he saw Floret sniffing his body. Noticing that Matcha had awakened, Floret fled off in fright, hiding behind a pile of rubbish, nervously watching Matcha from a distance.
“What is there to be afraid of?” Matcha waved his paw at Floret and said, “Come over Floret, big brother will give you milk to drink.”
Behind the Dimension Portal, cold rays emitted from Dust Ball’s eyes. “Disgusting fellow.”
Diana said, “This Matcha is too much. How can he bully a little kid?”
Roly Poly shouted, “Teach him a lesson Dust Ball. Open the Dimension Portal and teach him a lesson.”
Dust Ball squinted her eyes and said, “I promised Zhao Yao not to open the Dimension Portal recklessly, however…”
In an abandoned attic, Matcha edged closer to the hidden Floret and laughed heinously. “Floret, come over here, let big brother lick your fur.”
At this instant, an explosion rang. A block of brick hurtled past him and Matcha dodged in the nick of time by activating Time Freeze.
Matcha wiped an imaginary line of cold sweat from his head and said with a smug face, “Ha! Thank goodness I am agile and casually evaded it. Why did a brick suddenly fly towards me?”
As he thought about it, wind and thunder roared. Matcha stared with his big eyes and looked upwards with an alarmed expression. Tens of bricks abruptly fell down while his Time Freeze was cooling down. Matcha was so frightened that he curled like a ball, trembling in fright.
A loud rumble rang in the air. Seconds later, Matcha opened his eyes and discovered that he was not hit by any of the bricks. He immediate covered his chest and inhaled large gasps of air. “Scared me to death. This old house is too unsafe. A pile of bricks falling like that.”
On the other side of the Dimension Portal, the cats clapped their hands in celebration.
“Good!” Lightning watched with relish. “Let’s have another go!”
Roly Poly shouted earnestly, “Dust Ball, may I throw?”
Dust Ball raised her brow and said, “Sure, fifty per throw.”
Roly Poly immediately said, “I’ll pass. Looking at other cats tossing isn’t that bad after all.” He sighed regrettably as he thought, “To think that I, Roly Poly, have been a hero for life, but after owing Zhao Yao, my life has become poorer.”
Meanwhile, Matcha lay in the attic for half a day and only managed to get up with some difficulty. He felt his stomach wiggle and emit rumbling sounds. “I feel hungry all of a sudden. Yikes, I haven’t eaten from yesterday till this morning. I am famished.”
At that moment, Yellow Mud jumped in from the window and released the plastic bag from his mouth, pouring out the food on the ground.
Matcha was surprised and asked, “Yellow Mud, you went out so early to find food?”
“Yeah.” Yellow Mud nodded and said, “Everyday I have to search for food in the rubbish before it is cleared. I intended to bring you along but you were so sound asleep so I didn’t call you.”
Yellow Mud recalled the process of waking Matcha—pushing wildly for half a day, even pressing on his nose to nearly suffocate him, Matcha didn’t even wake up.
Yellow Mud frowned, looked at Matcha, and said, “Matcha, after sleeping for a night, you must be hungry. My harvest was pretty good today. I even found a whole sausage. Quick, try it.”
Matcha squinted his eyes and looked at the food on the ground. His eyes revealed signs of hesitation. “Looks pretty dirty… but I am famished…”
Two days later.
Yellow Mud returned with a bag of food in his mouth. A large and a small figure scurried over and took the food. They poured the contents of the bag on the ground and began eating voraciously.
Matcha said surprised, “We have struck the lottery, there’s fishtail today.” Floret curled up her tail, and held her chin up and chest out as she meowed happily as if agreeing with Matcha’s words.
Looking at both big and small cats eating happily together, Yellow Mud narrowed his eyes and said, “Well… Matcha… Do you want to follow me tonight to look for food?”
“Wah?” Matcha backed up and inadvertently ran into Floret. “I can’t. I have to stay at home to protect Floret. What if other wild cats bully her? You are Floret’s brother. I don’t think you will want to see your sister pregnant one day?”
Yellow Mud looked at Matcha speechless. He felt as though he was carrying a mountain on his back. “This Matcha is voracious… even more than both Floret and me… I feel so tired…”
Watching Yellow Mud’s expression darken, Matcha pounded his chest and said, “Yellow Mud, don’t worry. Do not be deceived by my wild cat looks. My family is very rich. Zhao Yao and the rest are worried sick about me and want me to go back. When I go back, I will pay back my debt with money and ensure that you have fish for every meal.”
Yellow Mud sighed and said, “Why aren’t you going home to look?”
Matcha was discouraged and he thought, “The cell phone battery is flat, so I do not know what’s going on at home.” Constantly confronted with Yellow Mud’s constant gaze, Matcha thought for a while until he had a flash of genius. “Okay, I will go back and take a look.”
A few hours later, Matcha carried a small bag and left the attic. Yellow Mud was at the window and he said, “Matcha, you really don’t want me to accompany you? Do you remember the way?”
“No, there’s no need. I remember the way.” Matcha thought, “Well, I’ll find a place to charge my cell phone first. Then I’ll ask about the situation at home. Humph, after charging it, I’ll order takeaway sushi for Yellow Mud and Floret and surprise them.” He imagined the pleasantly surprised expressions of the two cats after seeing the sushi.
…
“Wah!” Yellow Mud walked round and round the takeaway box. “What is inside? Is it edible? What a fragrant smell! Matcha, you are awesome!”
“Meow! Meow!” Floret would paw at the sushi box, sniffing here and there and she gazed at Matcha with adoration.
…
At this thought, Matcha smiled sillily. He was very satisfied and thought, “Must find a proper place for charging, let me think…” The next instant, Matcha’s eyes brightened. “Yes, find Fish Ball!”
Meanwhile, as Matcha left, the supercats in the Extradimensional Belly immediately shouted together.
Diana clasped her paws and said with a pair of misty eyes, “Matcha has left, let’s make use of this opportunity to bring Yellow Mud and Floret over.”
Roly Poly was eager and said, “Yes, although Matcha is a vagrant, he is highly dependent on Yellow Mud. That’s too easy and comfortable for him. It is good to bring Yellow Mud and Floret over and let them enjoy Matcha’s life. Switch their roles so that Matcha will live a true vagrant life.”
