Chapter 500: Not of Our Kind
Chapter 500: Chapter 500: Not of Our Kind
A young woman in dark green cargo pants stepped out of the vehicle.
She was followed by a tall, well-built male driver.
Nina Jacobs sized them up. Their attire was neat and uniform; they didn’t look like survivors.
They looked more like professional roadside marauders.
"Blocking the road again and again... you really have a death wish,"
Nina Jacobs said.
The road through Mornfell had a mountain slope on one side and a steep drop-off on the other.
If a vehicle drove onto this sheet of ice, its wheels could easily slip, sending it plunging down the cliff.
"The feeling’s mutual."
Ronso didn’t underestimate Nina Jacobs and her companion.
Not only had they spotted his icy roadblock, but the way the ice had melted into water in an instant proved that the Fire Element Superpower User between them was stronger than him.
"Actually, if you can provide us with some useful information, we might let you go," a woman behind Ronso said.
Her pronunciation was odd. Nina Jacobs guessed she wasn’t a Drakonian. ’A foreigner with features similar to a Drakonian... she must be from one of the neighboring countries.’
"What useful information? We’re just passing through,"
Nina Jacobs replied.
"For example... where did you absorb the Mystic Ice Core? Do you have any more on you?"
Ronso didn’t beat around the bush. But after hearing his words, Nina Jacobs just laughed.
"Actually, if you obediently clear the road right now, I might spare you as well,"
Nina Jacobs said.
"Such arrogance!"
Ronso conjured several Ice Spikes and sent them hurtling toward Nina Jacobs, while the ten people behind him also sprang into action.
Nina Jacobs’s eyes turned cold. As she defended herself with a Diamond Sand Cover, several Fireballs, accelerated by her Wind Element Superpower, shot toward the enemy with lightning speed!
"She’s a Dual Element!"
someone exclaimed.
"No wonder she’s so bold. But even if she is a Dual Element, we can just wear her down until she’s dead."
The words had barely left the woman’s lips when she let out a bloodcurdling scream.
She hadn’t even seen when the Fireball appeared. It only grazed past her, but her entire body was suddenly engulfed in raging flames from head to toe.
The fire corroded her skin. The woman’s screams lasted only a few seconds before the flames reduced her to ash.
"Allie!!"
Her companion cried out in alarm, then shot a vicious glare at Nina Jacobs.
"How dare you kill one of us!"
Ronso was clearly enraged.
Countless Ice Spikes rained down from the sky.
He thought this move would pin them down, but Nina Jacobs merely flicked a finger, and the Ice Spikes in mid-air instantly turned into droplets of water.
BOOM!
Flames then vaporized every trace of the water element.
A rain of fire descended from the sky. The remaining enemies scrambled to defend themselves, and Ronso conjured a massive Ice Shield to block it. However, the fiery rain seemed to be coated in acid, corroding everything it touched.
A series of screams rang out.
"Stop! We’ll clear the road now! You can stop!"
Ronso realized the woman before him was terrifyingly powerful. The ten people he’d brought were all Superpower Users who had killed before and were ruthless in their attacks,
But Nina Jacobs showed no mercy, killing three more in quick succession.
"Tell me something useful, and maybe I’ll spare your life. You aren’t Drakonians. Where are you from?"
Nina Jacobs asked.
The last words some of them had struggled to utter before dying were clearly not the Drakonian language.
’Has news about the Mystic Ice Cores in Mornfell really spread to other countries in just three months?’
Just then, Wayne Warner sensed a figure moving at high speed coming right for him!
"Aargh!!"
A Speed Element Superpower User was struck in the abdomen by Wayne Warner’s single blow, now writhing in excruciating pain.
"Such incredible skill! Ronso, don’t kill them!"
A voice called out from nearby.
Nina Jacobs raised an eyebrow and looked over.
Ronso, covered in injuries, looked at the newcomer. "Miss Quentin, she’s a Dual Element Superpower User."
"All the better! Miss, Sir, why don’t you come work for us? We will be sure to offer you a generous reward."
The woman called Quentin said to Nina Jacobs with an eager expression.
Powerful individuals are a rare and precious find, and this was a world where the strong take all.
Several flames still swirled around Nina Jacobs, as if ready to strike at any moment.
"You’re not Drakonians,"
Nina Jacobs stated.
Viggo smiled and spread her hands. "Is it really necessary to get hung up on nationality now? Does it matter what country we’re from?"
"Yes, it matters a great deal,"
Nina Jacobs answered without hesitation.
’Those who are not our kin cannot be trusted.’
That single phrase had been deeply etched into her mind since her past life.
In her past life, even after the apocalypse, Drakonia had upheld a spirit of mutual aid between allies, treating foreign survivors within its borders as equals.
Some Drakonians even sacrificed their own lives to save people from other nations.
But this Drakonia became a target coveted by several countries.
They coveted the great nation’s apocalyptic resources.
These resources included not only supplies and energy, but also manpower and tools.
The vast majority of Mystic Ice Cores dropped only in Drakonia, which in turn attracted some jealous jackals.
They disguised themselves as friendly neighbors and desperate survivors, fanning out across Drakonia’s various regions to collect Mystic Ice Cores and supplies for their own countries.
Many Drakonian Superpower Users were even lured away by their generous offers, becoming tools used to attack Drakonia later on...
Nina Jacobs would never trust these seemingly friendly and magnanimous foreigners.
Seeing Nina Jacobs’s wary eyes, Viggo gave a feigned, helpless smile:
"It seems we won’t be able to cooperate with you, Miss? Your Drakonia has always valued peace and harmony. I quite like friendly Drakonians, but I’ll make an exception for someone like you who can’t read the situation."
Viggo traced a line in the air with her hands, and a long saber materialized in her grasp.
"Everyone, let’s teach this Drakonian piece of trash a lesson!"
Viggo laughed maniacally. Her Gold Element Superpower surged around her as she pointed the chilly tip of her saber at Nina Jacobs, saying provocatively,
"Drakonia shouldn’t have strong people in the first place. It’s a waste even if you do."
The moment she finished speaking, a powerful blast of Thunder Element Superpower shot toward her from behind Nina Jacobs!
With a massive explosion, the saber in Viggo’s hand was blown to smithereens.
Nina Jacobs looked at Wayne Warner in some surprise.
That was Silas Crowley’s favorite Electromagnetic Detonation Skill. She never expected Wayne Warner, who had only just awakened his Thunder Element Superpower, to have already learned it.
And it was clearly much more powerful.
The explosion, amplified by the echoes of the high peaks of Mornfell, was deafening.
Viggo looked at Wayne Warner, her eyes filled with apprehension:
"Everyone, attack together! These two absolutely cannot be left alive! Whoever distinguishes themselves can claim any reward they want!"
"Same words back at you. No survivors,"
Nina Jacobs said. She knew Viggo couldn’t be simple; otherwise, she would never have been able to withstand Wayne Warner’s attack just now.
Viggo sneered. "Just the two of you? Drakonians really love to talk big!"
Suddenly, sharp spikes began to erupt violently from the ground.
Hundreds of spikes shot up erratically all around their feet.
Seeing this, Ronso joined forces with a Thunder Element Superpower User to cast a Thunder Net in mid-air!
Dozens of Superpower Users blocked their surroundings, and hundreds of assorted Superpowers simultaneously hurtled toward the two people trapped in the center!
But at that very moment, countless wood thorns suddenly appeared behind those Superpower Users.
"Anyone who dares to harm her won’t even leave behind a complete corpse!"
High up on the nearby mountainside, a hundred people had appeared.
Nina Jacobs’s lips curved into a smile. It seemed her convenient disciple had arrived.
